United doesn't need a Hawaii hub to aggressively push into the Pacific - it's started an SFO-Brisbane service in the past year, now ramping it up to daily. Now also starting an LAX-BNE service. Air Canada has long been able to charge high prices on its BNE-YVR route. So now we need Seattle-based Alaska to start a service to BNE! Many ppl would be grateful!

Probably from SEA, HNL, and possibly ANC (with Russian airspace still inaccessible to many western airlines, we might see a return to the Cold War-era system of stopping in Anchorage when going between Europe and Asia).

You say the one problem is the mixed fleet…. Alaska did quite well after the Virgin acquisition and slowly got rid of all the airbus products. They can do the same with Hawaiian. Hawaiian already had orders for Dreamliners and with Alaska’s very close relations with Boeing they could speed up that process. They would only need to replace 39 Airbus aircraft and those Dreamliners are sooooo nice. 🥰😍🥳

You DO realize the whole airline will be Alaska Airlines, right? The Hawaiian brand will be retained for some of the operation, but the entire combined company will be a single airline - ALASKA. By the way, 23 of the top 25 U.S. markets are dominated by the Big Four. Which two aren't? Seattle and Honolulu. Alaska already controls over 50% of the SEA market, and with this acquisition, Alaska will control over 50% of the HNL market.

Hawaiian Airlines name will not disappear due to the merger. The only difference between pre-merger and post-merger of Hawaiian and Alaska is the operation and crew. You will still board a Hawaiian Airline plane

Don't really see how this helps Alaska, and neither do investors, as after the announcement Alaska's stock tanked. I don't want Hawaiian to be bought up as they're a great airline and the "hometown" airline of Hawaii. It won't be the same if they merge into the Alaska group. Lastly I'll add, Hawaii's tourism numbers still haven't recovered from Covid, while I do love the Islands if you want a pure Polynesian experience there are far less touristy places to go that will grant you a better experience.

they tanked because they just announced taking on Hawaiians over all debt the stock is came back up to 40 a shares some of the highest in the industry. This will increase tourism & connectivity not only to the mainline but internationally as well
