As an African I have learnt never to show my fellow Africans i have Money being around ppl who are poor makes you a target especially if you have money. Even just by telling them oh am from America oh am From Uk makes you a target they see you as a walking Bank. People who dont have be very careful around them.

I find it strange & laughable that African-Americans think they can come to Africa and think it would be a walk in the park. That’s everywhere outside of the North America or Europe. It happens in the Caribbean too. The locals who have NOT travelled. They will EAT your money down. They come across caring, pretend to be working with you, but actually robbing you. I personally have experienced the exploitation. I do NOT even speak to the builder that built my home. I didn’t allow him to complete the job. He was begging me to take a loan to complete the house. Clearly, showing me that he cared about himself. Even the locals are taken advantaged off.
Wow - very informative
Very interesting conversation. Westerners can relocate from Western country A to B without skipping a step because we're in the Matrix LOL😂. Take us anywhere else is like taking a fish out of water. And that's why we struggle and end up returning home to the West. I think the simplest way for a western to relocate to non-western country is with a remote job from a western country. This might seem like a defeatest attitude but it gets you where you want to be with the safety net to slowly invest or create/build.

Eventually home is best..whether you are African American or Chinese or Ugandan. You will find yourself back home.. simple wisdom
I believe there is a huge difference in being humble and being docile. Humbleness in my opinion, makes you approachable and easy to work with/for. It doesn't mean that you lack confidence or expertise. Running a business is very humbling. I know that people's lives not just my families life but these other people and their families depend on me. Just as me and my family depend on them. It's stressful, it's humbling, and gratifying.

Jose Duke Jackson do not speak for all black Americans. There's a reason why we have So many historical psychologists and they have business departments. They have so many different degrees of economics and finance. I know, I'll say, just come from a terrible family. Fix down on black Americans so that he can survive and hustle in Uganda and feel comfortable.

THE KING OBUTUNDA MUCH LOVE BRO

Good to see king back.❤
Started the show speaking nonsense. "In America, we don't need each other." We absolutely do need one another, just as much as we do abroad. This kind of thinking is why we're at the bottom in America. No group economics, no influence on geopolitics, no control over resources, no control over jobs, and we own less than .5% of the wealth in America.
@user-carolynjohnson
Ай бұрын
He didn’t mean it in a disrespectful way!! I know what he meant was individually as a black American!🇺🇸 example: I live with my daughter and her kids and spouse. if we don’t have money to pay a bill or don’t have food that does not affect my next-door neighbors! We moved into a three bedroom three bath,on 3-1-2024. none of Our neighbors come to our place to say hi my name is. And what he saying is true on the show!! it’s sad but FACTS. I like to know my neighbor here in America. But we don’t need each other to build our life! And Africa community and family pull together to help each other.we Don’t even open our homes up to strangers. It could be our neighbor we suggest they go to a community shelter. Or church

I believe Black people/black Americans are business minded
EXACTLY!!!!!! 💯
I didn't start to find success in Africa until I learned to NOT expect honesty or transparency, to supervise and follow up on everything. Marcus was also the first to mention to me the need for food with some flavor and an American Southern style fried chicken restaurant including the sides👀. He opened my eyes to filling the needs. Although I don't agree that a college degree is the magic ticket to success, especially in a developing country, leadership is not in the curriculum of most degree paths as Marcus pointed out, this is a Hall of Fame episode Great job guys. If you know any Black Americans with experience in AC and refrigeration they could lock up the game in the right location. Getting outside of Kampala exposes many other opportunities with much greater ease of movement.
Am Ugandan but I have lived in UK a while, all that you say is true. The humbleness is nice but can be annoying.

@kenganda ODJ your next project must be to bring together resources for: 1. Market research 2. Immigration lawyers 3. Business Advisory services So that repats can make informed decisions about investing in Africa before leabing their jobs and blowing all their savings. It's too risky to try and do proper research in a month or two, without ptoper networks in your target country.
Should write a business plan before you spend a dime on your business.
Nice name man, King Obutunda- Fruity-King
The diaspora brother need to learn that they sometimes need to be tough to the people they employ because that is the up bring from childhood. It's changing these days but slowly.
I remember Obuntunda chose the wrong Ugandan wife, and she beat him up and left. Then he invested in businesses he didn’t know anything about. Lastly hotepin’ in the motherland is not the move, and everyone can’t be successful in Vlogging. I wish him the best, but these moves will get you a one way ticket back to the US.

If you have no strong altar you cannot live in Africa even wazungu are finding it difficult to live in Africa because some Africans have raised powerful altars that is chasing néo colonisers.
It's difficult to start a new business in a new country if you have never done business in your home country.
As a Black American, we have our own culture and want to bring it to Africa and share our knowledge. But, sometimes it’s greeted with corrupted incarnated folks from the mainland. Why is that I wonder? We cannot change the world or anyone’s life circumstances. It’s truly up to them to change their own matrix over there by not being corrupt and taking advantage of kindhearted folks like me who bring opportunities to their land.

Most AA don't look at Africa as a place to be saved but home and want to live and add to the economy. When is trying to invest in a place referred to as "savior mentality" 🤔.
We need to work in small groups. We need to have one or two locals in our group.
People should bring remote online work. You will need it the first three to five years.
I come from Uganda. My country is like a graveyard where American visions get buried When you come from America to Uganda as an investor, opportunists see you as money making machines. Whoever gets to know that your accent is from America they over charge you for everything
My advise to people who still want to settle in Uganda...plan well and ho do business out of the city...so that orher parts develop....don't settle where its already developed....you will be preyed on....cos of the situation in Uganda that you all will not discuss... Poor governance...
You ARE wrong, but also RIGHT. African principles are human based first and foremost at the core. In essence we do not throw people onto the garbage heap because they do not perform. We recognise that there will be high performers, poor performers and every scale in between. So what do we do with this spread? We do not abandon the non-high performers because they cannot perform for the simple reason that we know we are not performing monkeys in a circus! But also we know that for example a society that values warriors will consider artists non-performers and vice versa. It is all a societal ego-based power and control tug of war. Western Economics which is based on survival of the fittest and the rest be damned to eternal servitude is fundamentally anti-African. So seeing as Africa has chosen to economically align itself with Western philosophy what you, our dear brothers, are facing is an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object. You are in the chaos zone.
the other guest doesn't get an introduction? who is he?
The point is "many moving parts"that is disguised dishonesty
Glad to see you both still here after so many years. Have you ever directed your viewers towards International Banks which pay 8 to 10% or Ugandan Treasury Bonds, which pay 14 - 16% Interest? Rather than invest $100k into a risky business, why not earn 3m to 5m UGX a month in passive interest income with much less risk?

@sarahnamazzi8855 Prior to retiring at 50 I owned a restaurant, laundromat apartments, hundreds of acres of farm land a real estate development company. I was recruited to help create the Entrepreneur Program and taught it for ten years. I used a large part of my profits from my businesses to fund orphanages, agriculture and Micro-loan programs in East Africa for about 20 years. Now that I'm fully retired, I've been investing more in Fixed Deposits and Treasuries in the USA and Uganda because I make more money with far less risk and without the double taxation in the USA and Uganda. Passive income through paper assets have the benefits of time and compound interest.
