If you are a Knights player and your "cheapest" Knight is ~150 points, these can fill up the "I have 40 points left over so I may as well take something" spot. The fact that they can hold objectives and perform Actions is just icing on the cake.

I'm using Navy Breachers as troops for my knights, they have a nice "knightly" military look to go with them.

Reminds me a lot of the "Loyal 32" from index 8th edition. Where every imperium army had three 10 man guard units and 2 company commanders for objective holding and cp farming

I'm completely on board. It's just strange that GW didn't anticipate this being the unit for all seasons, for virtually every Imperial Army. They've gotta be losing money every single day that injection mold lies there cold and unused. I was tempted to make some homebrew rules for this - have an Inquisition/Agents army. Maybe allow certain allied based on what detachment - so Ordo Malleus based force could take a certain amount of Grey Knights or Ordo Xenos could take Deathwatch.

It’s useful to know I can use my Arbites Kill Team in WH40K and at 35 pts, it’s possible to fit into many lists to use those annoying unused points. However, I’d still prefer the option of adding 1-2 models to a unit (a la 9E) instead of 10e’s fixed unit composition rules.

these guys are so cheap there’s no way it isn’t some kind of balance error. the other arbites squads are much more expensive and yet have less capabilities. you can also compare them to navy breachers to see an even more drastic difference in power and points cost

I have two squads of navy breachers I just love those models but it's a shame the rules are so poor for them, complete mix of close combat and shooting weapons, just not tough enough to deal with in range and need the rogue trader squad just to get some half decent abilities then you end up with 200 pts for a unit that infiltrates and can take down 5 intercessors at best

100% agree. The comparison to the other Arbite variants makes the points discrepancy pretty obvious. I guarantee GW will ramp up their cost by ~50% when they finally notice the oversight.

@@Rotebearda i am in the exact same boat. got a box of breachers as they are my favourite looking infantry models by far. their rules would even be perfectly fine if they were just cheaper. right now you’re paying space marine level prices for a unit that is a sidegrade to infantry squads at best

Wonder if they're so cheap from just being so limited. If people could run 6 of these they might do a more hasty balance "patch". Or it's just something to make people rush to buy a bunch before they nerf it. And they're limited on the table, without being OP game winning levels of broken so they just letting it happen.

I did consider them for my custodians army or navy breachers or voidsman for 40 pints

Still waiting for the release of Codex Adeptus Arbites! With Judges, Repressor transports (very much now required given the three current unit choices), Bikes, K9 Squads, and Bastion-like 'Precinct House' fortifications...perhaps a couple of 'lone operative' undercover detective types too...

This would be a good series or extended video for each army to help people find those "Must Have" units for 10th for their army when you are like myself and 2nd guess when you auto include certain models.

I’m just so happy that they are back in the lore and game.

I can give my reasoning as a Custodes player. They’re 5 less points than a Prosecutor squad, they get 1 extra model (so essentially 5W to a Prosecutors 4W), get 1 less armor save, but get a natural 5+++ FNP vs all damage rather than a 3+++ vs Psychic attacks and a 4+++ vs Mortal wounds. The Exaxtion squad also has more impactful fire power. A grenade launcher, heavy Stubber, and or Webber are great for some cheap plink damage. The exaction squad also has Assault and Pistol weapons allowing the unit to perform action after advancing and while in combat making them a better utility unit. So for 5 less points you get a more durable, more deadly, better action unit. I guess the one downside is that this will most certainly mean a point increase for the Exaction squad which is necessary, but I’d also like SoS to go way down for Custodes (amongst other necessary point adjustments). Why are Witchseekers 15ppm and Venetari 80ppm. The hell GW?

Let's be real - A squad a of shiny, gritty 'Judge Dredds', accompanied by a mechanical K9, and equipped with something called a "Soulguilt Scanner" is a no-brainer auto-include regardless of points cost. They make even assassins look like pussies

So just for context, the exaction squad is cheaper than servitors and get one additional model to boot.

Assault also lets them advance and perform an action, since GW removed "actions" from the core rules vocabulary for no reason and just tied it to "eligible to shoot" in the missions. So now literally everything can do actions now and things with Assault/Pistol weapons are valued higher than they normally would (Pistol is also great because actions only prevent you from charging, not fighting in ongoing combat).

Been trying my best to put together an army based off of the “Space police” colour scheme for space marines from rogue trader. These were allied into the list before anything. Nice to see there’s some competitive play in trying to build something geared towards head fluff

Their point total fits perfectly with my Imperial Knights. Move your mountain of metal down the board and keep shooting, space Judges in the backline to force Deep Strike units further away, and you get to shout "I am the law!" after the ork player shouts "WAAAGH!".

I wanted to get these guys as a private army / guard force for my Knights. Alas stock issues... 😢

When you’re rich enough to own a Knight, they let you have your own personal police force 😤

Seeing the medkit from these gives them a 5+++ while Leagues of Votann gets a 6+++ from theirs is such a kick in the balls... Oh and don't forget shotguns with the same range as our squad's magna rail rifle... Really cool models though!

7ppm T3 sv4+ and a 5++ is crazy

RBTs are some of the best form of list flex and I hope they make the rest of the Imperial Agents more agressively costed, as opposed to nerfing the one good squad.

It'd be nice if they took cost off of the others and added it to these. More diverse lists is better.

I used to pronounce Tyranids like tie-ran-ids because of tyrannosaurus. Got some odd looks back then.

Sad that the Subductor shields are not true 'Suppression shields' with shock charges in them too... The rules team missed a lore (2nd Ed) note there...

I was wondering if you could look into a video about options for farming CP for armies that don't have access to ez points, like my chaos knights. Trying to boggle out a way to have access to more than 10 cp a game like most other armies get.

A 5 point nerf to put them on pair with voidsmen at arms would be enough imo

I'm very excited to add some Exaction squads to my Space Marines. Even if GW bumps up their points total to like, 60-70 points, I think they're still pretty solid. I'll probably play them unless a nerf makes them _completely_ unusable. That said, if I were to pick my favorite based solely off the aesthetics and vibes, the Subductor squad are the best. I love those big shields. Honestly, all of the Arbites look pretty rad, so I'm glad the Exaction squads are really good. It always feels good when you see a unit you really vibe with aesthetically and then you find out they're actually REALLY, REALLY GOOD. The Voidsmen-at-arms are also really cheap and can come in small 5-person units. I wonder how they stack up? Clearly not as well, otherwise people would be using them instead, but they seem rather cool too, and I'd like to know what their niche is if they have one.

As with basic Close Quarters Battle, you base your team off of your heaviest weapon you have, and enhance them. One thing, though- too bad you can't have a short barrel heavy stubber with a shorter range, and a +1 in S, or W.

1 less BS and 1 less armor as well as no faction/detachment ability. Not really a replacement for Battlesisters imo and Sisters do have cheap small units. But absolutely op for armies that otherwise struggle to get cheap bodies on secondaries, hence their appearances in Imperial Knight lists.

I love how nobody pronounces it arr-BEET-es, which is both probably closest to the nu-greek that the name is clearly leaning towards, and closest to the latin cognate "arbitari" which the name is clearly descendent from.

I literally just bought the exaction squad as a supplement for my new Custodes army because I thought they looked cool. I had no idea I made such a competitive pick. I might still run them as a Vigilant squad though, simply because I need the extra points lol

It has become almost comical how every time I learn about the existence of a decent unit for one of my armies, I immediately find that it has been bought out everywhere and is now unavailable at a decent price lol

It’s so obviously Arbites - Astartes, Custodes, etc. Also, Auspex is right, it IS derived from arbiter (the use of the term arbitrator within their ranks really shows how it should be pronounced). It’s ar-bi-ter, not ar-bee-ter, hence Arbites and not Arbeetes.

Any idea where I can get these guys?! Only place I'm finding them in is kill team box sets and I don't want to drop $100+ just to get the one squad.

i reckon the Exaction squad will go to 10 man for 75 points or 10 men plus a doggo for 80 points as a way of balancing unit in line with the other arbites squad options. still a pretty interesting squad for so few points, but not such a silly price for a tiny little action monkey squad.

I've always viewed them as being used in games much like say Military Police are used to occupy territory in Hearts of Iron. It isn't something you use competitively to fight opponents directly, it is something you can use cheaply to hold objectives. An Imperial version of something akin to for Orks Gretchin and Necrons the Scarabs, difference is those can't hold objectives, while Arbites can, which makes them a little OP for the point cost. I doubt GW will change the rules on them, I just think they perhaps may rethink how they approach fodder units and how useful they are for holding captured game objectives.

How are they doing now? I like the models and I'm building my first Space Marine army 😊

For how good they are, I can't seem to really put them in my Knights list? I don't like Armiger spam much so I'm running 1 Cerastus, 2 Questoris and 3-4 Armigers. Guess I could cut out an enhancement here and there to fit them? But then some combinations I want of Questoris loadouts don't let me take enhancements

@@D00M3R_MAVS ive only had the ability to watch games, as my first DA force is being made a piece at a time to prevent burnout, but from what I've seen as a spectator was they are exceptionally good backline objective holders for the price of a couple enhancements in points, even got to see the Imperial Fists player get a cheeky shot off with them at some 'Nids. Was quite amusing, if memory serves they are a kill team box, but out of stock and no doubt quite the backlog.

Was gonna say that maybe they can replace the vindicare in a knights list, but not sure if that would be worth it. also most knights lists I'm seeing in competitive right now just tend to have 3 x big ones and then like 6 armigers. so there might not be room. I don't know much about the army TBH though. For Black Templars they might be good, but we don't have a shortage of bodies right now. Our Crusader and Sword Bro squads are both really nice. You'll usually see multiple Squads of 20 x Man Crusaders in a BT army right now. Still though, 35 pts is nothing, So I'm sure we can make some room.

Yes, I'm not sure that is still a thing in this edition.

The thing is 7ppm is absolutely insane. That's what most horde units cost.

Assuming generally accepted Latin pronunciation (as nobody really knows what real Latin sounded like) it should likely be Ar-Bee-Tes (as in Tesla). Similarly Astartes should be pronounced As-tar-tes (again like in Testla). The Astartes as heard in something like the famous animation of the same name (as spoken by the sphere, where the last "tes" is pronounced as "tees") is likely incorrect and an english pronunciation of a Latin word. This is all assuming we accept Latin as the origin of and authority (as in follow the same pronunciation rules) over high imperial.

I am taking these because my 2k list had 35pts left and i have nothing else that fits!

Imagine these guys holding your objectives.

Hit me up when you can field them as a stand-alone army... Maybe I'd be interested then.

I'm pretty sure you originally had it correctly that games workshop was going with faux latin for arbiter. Not ar-beet-er or ar-bite-er.

I'm going to be sad when they nerf these (slight points bump and forced to take max squad seem the most likely changes). I run them because I don't I have much to do with sub 40 points now and it's nice to just toss a squad in to fill that gap.

The only thing I can contribute to in this video is with the unit name. Assuming High Gothic is basically Latin (Ave Nox Dominus is pretty Latin) the name would be pronounced r-b-tes ("t-e" pronounced as in tendrils) with the stress on B. Now back to the cave.

Ar-bee-tees is technically correct based on what gw has said. But based on Latin conventions AR-BYTES

a unit of 5 should be at least 55 pts to be balanced, or better just limit it to 10 man units(and still increase the points to at least 90), so they become less relevant point for point, as mentioned they are not borderline takeable in competitive, they are a must in most imperial armies, I would even include guard and space marines for the flexibility for the points it brings.

Short vowels follow the long vowel at the start of a word, so it should sound like AHR-BIT-ESS, with "A" as father, "I" as fit, and "E" as fret, and with an unvoiced "S" as set.

Though if assuming its intended to be pronounced as the plural of itself, as Arbities, but deliberitely mispelt, then it would be AHR-BIT-EEZ with "E" as fleet, and with a voiced "S" as ease.

I am almost done painting mine. So, of course GW will raise their points cost to the point of unusable. However, they are not the only agent squad that is decent.

AR-bee-tace, like the greek pronunciation of hoplites. wish the subductors were better; theres something intensely funny to me abt the thought of a bunch of riot cops with batons trying to arrest tyranids, necrons, etc.
