The people wanting to cut funding should go into burning structures with the fireman and get a first hand experience about what they need equipment wise.. Fire fighter is one of the few jobs where you know you will be in the CRAP frequently.. Police can go a career without being shot or discharging their weapon... A fireman will be in fire fighting situations more often and in any weather..

Politics destroys fire depts. One reason I retired after 30 years service in a professional fire dept.

I really feel sorry for the firefighters, but aren't you US Americans proud of paying as little or no taxes as possible? That's what you get.
