On just my second ever long ride, I take my ‪@kymcoglobal1397‬ Like 150i up the Marilaque Twisties on a beautiful morning in the middle of the Metro Manila GCQ. I’m joined by my girlfriend Sophia on her ‪@yamahamotorphils‬ Sight, as well as my friend Oz and his cousin Josh on a ‪@royalenfield‬ Himalayan rented from Philippine Moto Tours and a ‪@vespa2095‬ Primavera 150.
Before long, we’re turned around by a roving police checkpoint shortly after Masungi Georeserve. Disappointed but not surprised, we decide to turn back and head down to Shell at Boso-Boso, where we have a nice little bike-swap session. Pia and I try a big bike for the very first time, unable to contain our excitement at finally riding a Royal Enfield Himalayan after hours of consuming KZread videos about it. We also get the chance to compare my Kymco Like to the scooter it copied, the Vespa. The boys also have fun trying out Pia’s super lightweight and efficient Yamaha Sight.

RIDE XP is the name of my new motovlog dedicated to my experiences exploring the Philippines as a new rider, gaining valuable XP in riding and life along the way.
Going on long rides has been the culmination of months of dreaming, further delayed by the various levels of quarantine. I learned to ride at the Honda Safety Driving Center, and actually completed only 4/9 modules before the lockdown hit. I bought a secondhand Kymco Like 150i and just kept practicing in my neighborhood until finally the LTO reopened and I could get the additional restriction to legally operate a motorcycle.
This is definitely the beginning of many epic journeys on two wheels around the country and eventually the world, and I’m excited to bring a more cinematic feel to conventional motovlogs as my skill and confidence on the bike increase, and as I’m able to save up enough money to get a big bike. So hope you guys enjoy my first ever motovlog!
