Cas, this video was just what I needed today! I have a request for the next one: Can you please keep a timer in the corner of the screen so we can see the actual passage of time? As a fellow ADHD lady, I struggle to estimate how long a mini-project would actually take to complete. I know everyone operates at their own pace, but it would really help people like me who can’t even kinda guess (which often is a big roadblock to starting.) *I also appreciate that you did speed up some of the more tedious steps. It was sufficient to give us an idea of what you were doing without subtracting from our own time unnecessarily.

When my daughter was ten, I let her skip her homework because she was practicing lock picking, and that seemed so much more useful. Sure enough, last month she was at an event and the park district forgot to unlock the vendor's gate, so nobody could leave. My daughter pulled out a hairpin and popped the lock, to the delight of the crowd. I'm so proud of that girl!

"OH, my wedding ring!" That one hit home and totally cracked me up. 😂 I'm glad you found your wedding ring, Cas! My dear Hubby and I both have the habit of putting special jewelry in a "safe place," and everybody knows how that goes. Our wedding rings and other nice pieces of jewelry have gone into a "safe place" during vacations, or when one of us needs surgery, etc., only to be discovered a year or more later, in a really odd location, typically discovered through serendipity. It always makes my day when I find some wayward treasure. It's almost worth hiding things just so I could find them.

Also, we take all of the band aids out of the containers and throw them in a plastic container Then when you need one, you just grab it out of the bin. Just a thought, of things that work for my family. Maybe they will work for yours too. :)

As long as you’re alive you’ll keep buying and collecting and needing stuff… it happens. Consider it a blessing and a pleasure you get to steward and care for this home. If we could all be so lucky, right? The day you no longer need things or to manage or clean them it’s because you’ll be in the morgue or underground. Thank God today is a great day to declutter and clean! Phew! Live to fight the good fight another day.

I am certain that I have undiagnosed ADHD and I collect hobbies, I live in chaos, with my partner who also has ADHD, and I grind my teeth in my sleep... when I sleep, that is! When I stop at the end of the day my thoughts get really loud and insistant! When you stopped and said, "I just threw out labels, I am going to label these and they will be the most frickin amazing thing!! I'm a genius!!!" I TOTALLY felt understood and not so alone any more!!! I do things like this all the time! Thank you for the inspiration and for being your beautiful self!!!! I love your little chat at the end - I only discovered your channel yesterday and have watched about 15 of your videos already!!!

I have been card making, needle felting, gardening, visual journalling, scrapbooking, photography ( a lasting hobby and passion, at least), cooking ( which I usually dislike) baking (until my oven became too unreliable) polymer clay creations, jewellery making. quilling, making bunting and garlands... oh! We also call our 'junk drawer' "The Drawer of Requirement"

I think all things creative….my list looks like yours but add cake decorating ( which I think you’ve done before also…?) soap making, sugar scrubs deodorant, kombucha, music. I keep these items though because I enjoyed them and will never know when that particular mood will strike and off I go….on the hobby train!! 😂

I, too, hobby hop. (Cake decorating is one of mine as well!) And the thing about a hobby is, it doesn't have to be a job to be "worthwhile." Did you have fun? Did you create art? I have decorated exactly one wedding cake (so stressful!), but knowing how and having the tools certainly give me more options for the monthly potluck at church or when the next birthday comes around. And I agree with the above that circling back to old hobbies can be fun. I particularly like some of the fiber arts, because a.) there isn't as large an initial outlay of money as for some hobbies, b.) they don't take up much space, and c.) I can go back and continue them after years away. (I started knitting a baby sweater when my sister was pregnant for the second time, and then *I* got pregnant and put it away. I finished it years later, for her sixth-or-so child. No harm was done to it by being put away half-finished in a bag for over half a decade.) Now, I tend to rotate between knitting, crochet, and cross-stitch: I get bored with just one hobby.

Gluten free baked goods are insanely expensive, and decorated gluten free baked goods are almost nonexistent. But around here, everybody still gets birthday cakes.

Shameless hobby hopper here as well!🤚🏾😁 Does anyone else get "hobby loss anxiety"? I describe it as you get all the things you learn the skills and do it for a while. Then you start to do it less and less. Then you realize after spending all that money and time you may be losing interest, and you get anxious that you might be losing interest and hobby hop to a new one? I hate that feeling😓. How do you prevent yourself from hopping to a new hobby instead of picking back up one of the previous hobbies?🤔

Cas, light bulbs are not trash. Yes, you can donate them to many places like Goodwill, Salvation Army and more places. Light bulbs are hazardous waste so they have to be dropped at the landfill or waste station. Unopened snacks that your kids don't like can be donated to food panties or church food collections/pantries. I hope you'll do these in the future. Always good errands to run with your kids so they can be generous in the future and teach their kids too. Great video!!!

But uh, I now have several thousand buttons in all different colors, sizes, and materials. I made a whopping total of three items and haven't gone back to it. 😂

You like to learn all the things, and that's why you had so many hobbies your ADHD hyper obsessed over. I've got the same thing, but instead of a million hobbies, it's a million book idea and several classes at once to learn ALL the things. Gotta remind myself to grab Skillshare because that dessert class looked amazing!
