I remember reading that Waluigi was actually cut due to time restraints. It would make more sense than him being too creepy looking, considering he was in three previous games and in three future games.

Yes. A former developer of the game went on reddit many years ago doing a q and a that revealed waluigi wasn't too creepy, but instead was cut to time constraints. Metal Mario was instead his replacement as it was much faster for them to do. Other characters like paratroopa and toadette were also thought of to replace him before going with metal mario. I'll link the reddit convo if I can find it!

Waluigi being cut from 7 for being "too creepy" is a false rumor, time constraints is was actually kept him out. And no, Metal Mario didn't take his slot.

I still want E.Gadd to be playable some day.

So you forgot about Mii Outfit C in Mario Kart Wii. It's Icon is still in the files and in some official Mario Kart Wii cheatbooks it tells you how to get it by beating a number of expert time trials I believe. The cheat books are also how we know it was supposed to be a Toad Mii Costume.

I’m sad that waluigi didn’t make it into MK7 just because he was creepy but then end again they added queen bee and she was at to big in Mario galaxy and that was after I played Mario kart 7 and it’s not like they were able to shrink her down to their side or grow everything & everyone so that she would be able to race.

I learned a lot from your excellent and concise presentation. Well done! P.S. I thought it was fantastic editing, especially the part where you cut away from the Double Dash character menu as you went to select Diddy Kong.

Birdo and Diddy Kong, while now in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe due to the Booster Course Pass DLC, were also meant to be in Mario Kart 8 on the Wii U, whether that be through the base game or DLC.

Im pretty sure Petey was probably cut in wii because they wanted to see how the players warm up to Rosalina or try her out. Because unlike Hammer Bro and paratroopa, petey’s icon looks finished

Spike's emblem was hinted in Bangkok Rush on a advertisment.

This is from a Nintendo employee: "Waluigi's omission from Mario Kart 7 was a hard one for us here at Nintendo. It was due to the time constraints associated with the Christmas deadline for the game. Rest assured Waluigi will be making further appearances in the Mario series for at least the next few years. Also understand some characters, such as Waluigi, are more expendable then others and space was limited. The game needed Bowser, DK, Wario and it didnt need the few expendable characters that we here consider "cult classics". We needed a balance between new racers and our standards."

Actually Donkey Kong JR is the modern Do key Kong's father. Donkey Kong Jr's dad is Cranky Kong.

Interesting kamek was originally intended for MK8.I hope he is going to make a return in the BCP he’s a great character. Another great short swifty keep them coming😊👍

Kamek has joined the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe game, as of July 12th, 2023.

With the new booster course pass and birdo confirmed. I think we will get diddy Kong and probally the new dk jungle parkway, Pauline, kamek, and potentially petey piranha cause of the new piranha plant cove track that dropped in tour that we will probally see in the booster course. dream characters I want to see added are: funky kong, and hammer bro.

At least the face of scrapped MK characters actually made it into a mainline MK game

If New characters will be added to MK8DX i doubt that a potential Mario Kart X will go beyond. Especialy if it got the unfinished free update symptom

It may be overly optimistic, but I'd like to see E. Gadd added to Mario Kart Tour! He would be a great fit for a Halloween Tour. 👻

According to various sources Sonic and Tails were considered to be in double dash as well

There is one recoloured charcter in the new game. IF they are a new wieght they are new. Unless you are one of those people who think the kids are all the same

8 deluxe's roster is pretty goof now and is getting even better with more comming but i still dont know what they were thinking with the og one...removing so many main stays like diddy, birdo, king boo etc and replacing them for...the koopalings and some clones Sry but if you aren't a fan of the koopalings them the roster is just bad

Sure we didn't get Waluigi in Mario Kart 7 despite him being a staple to the series, but hey at least we got a "relevant" character that made two minor cameos in Super Mario Galaxy series and never again since then, clearly deserving the spot just as much! That being said though, I'm pretty sure they cut Waluigi not because he looked creepy, but because of time constraint (Honey Queen was supposedly easier to make for the game).

I know we’re talking about the characters that didn’t make it in the series….. I still have hopes that mk8 deluxe will hopefully or eventually get more characters and alternate characters as well … so I still have hopes for more characters in the Mario kart 8

I hope there will be a character DLC then some of these characters could have a potential chance of getting into mario kart 8 deluxe.

I feel like the ultimate 'cut' character is Goomba 🤣 Cut before even the planning stages all because they don't have arms 😭 Just imagine MK8's highlights with a Goomba... ends evil Luigi's career.

Despite Waluigi being my main, I think that Waluigi's 3D model on the 3DS would look creepy and off putting (the waluigi on waluigi pinball is a 2D sprite of cut out)

Besides the obvious and still very questionable exclusion of Waluigi in Mario Kart 7, I'm kinda bummed out about the 3 cut characters from Mario Kart Wii. That already has the best character roster of all time, and it would've been perfect to have one more lightweight (Paratroopa), one more middle-weight (Hammer Bro), and one more heavyweight (Petey Piranha, my favourite). That way everyone from Double Dash would be there too, making it the ultimate Mario Kart roster IMO (I'm not a huge fan of the crossover stuff, makes it feel less like MARIO Kart).

Kamak was the only one who really was scrapped, the others weren’t in the files at all, and Pauline wasn’t even popular at the time

Waluigi wasn't cut for his "creepiness" in Mario kart 7 but more because of time constraints yes i know some people in the comments told you that but one more could help
