Teatro Metropolitan CDMX is a fantastic pro shot, pro audio concert. Pick any song, or the whole show one song at a time and 2 things will happen. 1. We (TWA) WILL be here to watch with you. 2. Your head WILL explode at some point! With 2 E.P.'S and coming up on their 4th full length album, they have never written a bad song. Its honestly kinda scary how amazing these ladies are. And they are three of the most humble and sweet humans around. You'll find that there is one thing we (TWA) love as much as we love these girls, and that is watching someone else fall down this rabbit hole. Great reaction and I look forward to where ever this journey takes you next brutha!

Dany says: "It's about missing someone and the energy this person gives you. You're drawn into their gravitational pull and brightness - like an automatic sun." The video was put together in one week. They shot it at Tecate Pa’l Norte in Monterrey on March 31st. The video team is led by Beto Ramos, Pau’s drum teacher, and Iván Chávez, recent graduate of the University of Monterrey film school. The team they lead is top notch. Their first major TW video was the Metropolitan concert. Dan Lancaster is listed in the credits as a co-producer of the song, a lyrics contributor and providing keyboards. Dan was a touring keyboardist for Muse.

@@davesheville2023 I find this counterpoint fascinating. For some reason, a vote by fans that are likely interested in drumming if not enthusiasts themselves is somewhat a lesser recognition? Would a voting by so called “drumming experts” be more fair and unbiased? Who could say for sure? Secondly, didn’t all the other drummers have fans too? And, likely, don’t a number of them have massively larger fan bases to draw on? Thirdly, who largely determines all-stars in sports leagues, the Billboard Hot 100, the top KZread creators, the best places to eat, the best movies to watch..the best music bands? Some arbitrary, often not unbiased, select expert group, or the actual consumers? Lastly, and to me the biggest question: what defines “best drummer”? Virtuosity, speed, technical expertise alone? Or does the level of impact a drummer has on the overall performance matter as well, if not more? Is it just confined to the physical technique or include other performance aspects such as stage presence, energy, singing and songwriting? For me, when it comes to artistic value and performance, I would rather trust the judgment of myself and other fans rather than appointed “experts”.

  • @davesheville2023

    @davesheville2023

@@RipThru Trying to keep it shortish: 1) a fan vote is great, no problem with that. It’s just when they flood a voting opportunity and then start claiming that their favourite drummer is actually a better player than the others, it’s ridiculous and actually an insult to some very high class drummers. A panel of drummers voting would have had very different results 2) sure they have fans, but probably not the types who get caught up in hype. Their fan bases weren’t going around to their videos and telling everyone to vote. 3) determining a highly skilled drummer versus an average drummer takes people who actually know what they are talking about. If the general public are voting, then it’s really about their “favourite” and shouldn’t be confused with “best” . 4) there is no “best” drummer. There are so many fantastic players who possess all the attributes from technical skill, writing skills, performance skills etc. And many of them are so different that it’s pointless comparing them. Having said that, there are drummers that are simply better than others who cover everything and more that another drummer can. Paulina simply isn’t in the same league as many others. Does that mean she’s a bad drummer? Of course not. But the idea that she’s a better drummer than someone like Josh Freese who has had the type of career that many would kill to have, and he’s been doing it longer than Paulina has been alive, is absurd. One of my all time favourite drummers is Rob Hirst from Midnight Oil - his energy and vocals are amazing and he’s a decent guitarist, a great songwriter and lyricist. Is he one of the “best drummers in the world?” No. And as a drummer myself, it would be crazy to claim that he was. Unfortunately many people are blinded by all the hype and make ridiculous claims. You can bet Paulina wouldn’t think she was one of the “best drummers” going around, and that’s because she would actually know a lot about it.

I just saw them live in Milan (Italy), after a four-year wait and a 13-hour round trip. Their performance was absolutely amazing (I was sure) and I'll see them again in Bologna in July, can't wait! I'm almost 50 years old and I've listened to and seen many historical bands in concert, but none of them has ever fascinated me as much as the Villareal sisters. Their history, the genuine and gentle ways, the energy they bring to the stage, their vocal, instrumental and writing skills, the loving and constant interaction with fans, all these factors put together make them, in my humble opinion, something never seen before. In Milan there were people of all ages, also some kids having a blast (one just behind me with parents), this made me realise that 'our' girls are already beyond the niche of fans, they're rewriting music history, I'm absolutely convinced of that. Welcome to the rabbit hole TECK, you have been warned! 😜🤘⚡

That is one of the characteristics of TW, they play just what is necessary to create pieces of art. With its structure, its breaks, transitions, rhythm changes, modulations, choruses, pre-choruses, drum attacks, its endings… The great beauty of their art is in its simplicity but all this always seems to be at the right time and in the right way, bordering on perfection and predominating sophistication. Each of its pieces can be very different, but always with all the TW flavor. It’s very clear that these sisters have no limits. They have that gift that only belongs to the geniuses that appear among us every certain long period of time. They are the queens of the hook, the riff, the contagious rhythms, the catchy melodies, the sublime vocals, the unbeatable harmonies and the ambiguous but deep and powerful messages. And this happens song after song... INCREDIBLE!! The new rock masters: The Warning. Thanks and greetings from México!! 🇲🇽 🤘😁✌️

If you want live, then I have suggestions: 1) Evolve at the MTV Music Video Awards. OR 2) He’ll You Call a Dream at The Pepsi Center CDMX OR 3) Disciple at the Teatro Metropolitan CDMX. They sound amazing live!

Great reaction and extra points for being a Steelers fan!... Welcome to The Warning rabbit hole, I'm sure you're gonna enjoy the journey. All three, Dany (guitar), Pau (Drums) and Ale (Bass) are amazing, but if you think Pau puts on a show, wait until you get to one of the songs where she sings lead, Pau is also the leading songwriter of the band, a quite multitalented young artist, and yes, she won the 2023 Rock Drummer of the Year award recently.

I love your reaction. I literally did the same thing to my cousin. We watched the 2015 Enter Sandman vid from TW cave, the 1 that put them on the map, and he was like " Awe, look how cute! And they really did a great job!" And then we watched Automatic Sun...He didn't say a word until it was over. He said "THAT is the same band?! Play it again!" Yep, he's been Warned!

Sticking to official releases, HYCAD (Hell You Call A Dream) at the Pepsi Center CDMX and the MTV VMA version of Evolve (which makes other reactors jaws drop and their eyes bulge - no spoilers, please) are the other up-to-date high points. Then there are a plethora of great steps along the way. The entire Teatro Metropolitan CDMX show, in order, is stunning.

Glad you chose to dive into this awesome band. Yes they grew up, lol. 10 years later, now 24, 22, and 19. Yes , studio audio over live video. Song dropped Friday April 5, the video was recorded the weekend before, less than a week turnaround to release. I think they wanted it out in time for the North American eclipse on the 8th. On the upcoming 4th album, Keep Me Fed, out June 28. Dany has a new baritone Fender Strat with fuzz pedal, that and Ale's Specter 5 string bass are tuned to drop A. Love the strums up at the headstock. Great visual effects too. You mentioned Muse, they are one of the girls favorite bands, so definitely influenced by them. Great stage presence, Lzzy Hale has said that they are fierce, and they attack the audience. You want The Warning live-- "Evolve" at the mtv video music awards 2023. They excel at live. Also anything from Teatro Metropolitan CDMX 2022, suggest "Disciple" and the reimagined "Enter Sandman"

One of the things I really like the Warning is that they do play for the song. Dani can absolutely shred, but she keeps it to something appropriate to to the song. There is a video of their entire concert at the Teatro Metropolitan in Mexico City from 2022. I would suggest to pick one of these: the cover of "Enter Sandman", "Dust to Dust", "Error", "Narcicista", "Martiro", and "Evolve". They don't do a bad song.

Such a great story! I await your discovery of Pau (the drummer) taking lead vocals and/or sitting at a piano. She's a total performer. Muse asked The Warning to open for them while in Mexico last year and there are great stories about that. That was followed by Muse asking them to come to the UK to play a few festival shows. Finally, check out 'You've been warned'. It captures them along the way during the growing up process. Love your reactions!

Been a metal head since the early eighties. My first real rabbit hole was Metallica with Kill ‘m All. Hooked forever. Never again I had that with another band….until I discover this power trio! You’ve been Warned!

You hit the nail on the head. They do exactly what the song needs and no more. They aren't about flash for flash sake. Pau said the hardest thing about performing this song was slowing her fills down. She kept wanting to play them too fast. Since she got the timing down, she says this is her current favorite to play live. I suggest you do Hell You Call A Dream live from the Pepsi Center to get another listen to how they sound now. That also has a ton of drum-cam footage. Then go back and see how they got here from there. There are tons of official live videos on their channel. Also, if interested they did gear run downs last year. Each one is a separate video on Digital Tour Bus. That will show you what they play, and they explain why. It also gives you a great insight to each one's personality.

In between the Kiddy release ( so well done) of Sandman and contemporary Automatic Sun ( possibly the greatest marketing coup in history by being realeased with the solar eclipse), there lies a time of a great concept album masterpiece and beautiful rawness of performance at Lunario of Queen of the Murder scene. Art and Passion.

It’s funny. I dropped into the comments and realized that @mykemech had just commented basically the same thing I was thinking. I will add that the reason why I believe you should react to their song “Hell You Call a Dream” next is that I think it’s the best song they have released thus far and you can listen to it on your playlist without having to wait while you react to their catalog. Which by the way is all great. I’m enjoying your reactions so cheers and a new sub from West Texas!🇲🇽🇨🇱🤘🏻😎

Muse are their idols really, and they got the opportunity to open for them in Mexico 4 times and then by invited them to open in UK and Europe 5 times, together with Royal Blood. The very first time they played in that part of the world just happened to be in front of around 40k people. Now they are actually there in their own sold out headline tour playing almost every day, of course in much smaller venues, but people are going crazy.. they are better live as anybody has commented that all the time.

Nicely done... worth coming back for more. For what it is worth, the Warning describes their studio v/s live sound as trying to make their studio sound like their live so they only use studio sound in videos that are either rushed as I suspect this one was for the eclipse or when they can't use a front of house sound link in their recording. The proshot videos don't use camera sound recording as they are shooting from drones and multiple cameras so they use the front of house feed that comes of the mic's into the house speaker system. As you have already experienced fancams only get their phone sound and they can't get the visual dynamics that a pro shot camera can and so people complain about the sound not being good. Also if a fan is in one spot then you only get to see their view of the stage. If the Warning videographers couldn't access the sound as sent to the festival speakers then this will be the best it can get. Sound is easier to manage in the inside venues like the Pepsi Center and more difficult in the outdoor festivals or huge stadium type shows. They have used studio sound a couple of times because they had to and always note it as the source. Take Care David

A lot of good suggestions, below. For a good collection of live performance, check out the songs from the 8/29/2022 concert at the Teatro Metropolitan CDMX. Most if not all are available as singles on The Warning channel. Also the complete concert video is chaptered, handy for reviewing individual songs. “More” and “Evolve” performed at the 2023 MTVs are a lot of fun.
