Hello do the roborock avoid curtains ? My house has a lot of them and behind the curtqins the robot probably can fall down until reach the Window. It was important to me to know because im considering to buy it.
🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:01 *🤖 Comparison between iRobot Roomba j9 Plus and Roborock S8 Pro Ultra vacuum cleaners, both mop and vacuum simultaneously.* 01:07 *🛁 Comparison of base stations: iRobot resembles furniture, auto-refills solution, while Roborock has separate chambers for clean and dirty water.* 03:41 *💻 Both robots have mapping features in their apps, allowing room division and no-go zones.* 05:42 *🧹 Roomba and Roborock start cleaning, with Roomba vacuuming first and then mopping, while Roborock washes the mop pad before cleaning.* 09:08 *🧽 Roborock returns to dock, cleans and dries mop pad, and empties the bin, while Roomba returns to dock for auto-emptying.* 11:43 *🧸 Testing obstacle avoidance: Roomba does well, while Roborock struggles with avoiding obstacles such as cables.* 17:23 *💰 Pricing comparison: Roomba retails for $1400, usually on sale for $999; Roborock S8 Pro Ultra retails for $1600, on sale for $1200.* 19:28 *📝 Maintenance is crucial for both models, with simple procedures outlined and emphasized for optimal performance.* Made with HARPA AI
Im surprised the roomba doesnt have a button to release the mop pad.
Please help had it connected but turned off to clean and now can’t reconnect
I think these are great for ppl with OCD that dont mind cleaning them daily

ok i gotta admit I got a J9+ the other day and I don't have to do much except clean the mop pad if it's used a lot. Darn thing is so automated I don't need to do much with it and there's so many aftermarket parts you can get cheap for it over OEM and that kinda gives it a huge leg up over competitors too. Also, if your white, you can set your Roomba's voice to Mexican for a more authentic vacuuming experience xD
Really enjoying your robot reviews, I currently have 10 robots in my collection and I'm looking to get a few more. I do think Irobot has really fallen behind the times and so I would definitely recommend the Roborock over the Roomba. The Roomba is lacking several features, it uses a camera for mapping, Lidar is much more accurate and faster. It can fill the water tank but it doesn't spin or vibrate the mop pad and it doesn't wash or dry the mop pad. Roborock, Dreametech, Ecovacs and Eufy have gotten far ahead of Irobot when it comes to inivation and features, unless Irobot comes out with something major I don't think they will remain competitive.

If I had $1,500 to spend on the best mop & vacuum robot which one would be the best to get?

Dreame L20 Ultra seems to be the best choice. Followed by the Roborock S7 Max Ultra. This is based on value. (Cleaning power AND price). Spending more doesn’t mean it’s always worth it. Sometimes a slightly older model like the s7 is so close in performance to the newer models (s8) that it’s not even worth buying the new one for so much more $.
i really like the j9+
Which would you recommend for half carpet/half tiles?

S8 maxv ultra, Qrevo maxv are the only 2 I would consider..
Roomba feels more like a premium brand with slightly less features
Where did you get the J9+ for a $1000 bucks?

amazon it goes on sale a couple times a year
My roborock s8 pro ultra did an excellent job cleaning my floors and carpet. The roomba J9+ did a terrible job for me. Very incomplete. The roomba rams into my furniture and walls. I returned the roborock because it ate dog poop and then mopped my kitchen with it and then cooked it while trying to dry the pad :(. The roomb was also returned for just being a poor product and rough on my house. I hope roborock can get with the obstacle avoidance game.

If you want good obstacle avoidance you need the roborock with a "maxV" in the name (S7 maxv ultra, S8 maxv ultra, Qrevo maxv etc). All other models, including the high end roborocks have average obstical avoidance, even the top tier S8 Pro ultra!.

They used to have good obstacle avoidance and will again. They removed the cameras because they thought people were skeptical because they’re Chinese owned. They’ve been adding them back in though.

did you ever have problems with the lidar tower? all my roborocks s7/s8 , 4 in total after a year stop working or have problems because lidar is not spinning anymore or i have to push it. its annoying. its because the lidar bumps and keeps getting stuck on furniture, always with fullspeed. i suspect it being deformed over time and thus the lidar cant spin properly.

You can buy the part and change it yourself. I did it with my roborock and it works like new again. Parts bought from taobao very cheap because it’s very competitive in china. Even the battery I got the replacement about MYR100, change it after around two and a half years of working nonstop everyday 2500sq feet area
I got the j7+ about a year ago & I’ve had so many issues. Docking & undocking, the mop arm not going down, weird mapping, etc. I wish I got a roborock instead 😢

i got a roborock , the 4th , because the lidar tower always stops working for me after some month. because the s7/8 bump into things deforming it over time. when lidar stops spinning the robot stops working. so i am considering a vision based robot like the roomba again. before roborock i had the i980. it cleaned better than the s7 at least on hard floors. all my roomba i had until including the i980 are working until today. no roborock i ever had worked for a year without major problems mainly concerning the lidar tower. also the roombas do get less troubled by obstacles. they could untangle themselves no problem, but the roborocks just get interrupted just by everything. untangling not working. a sheet of toilet paper on the floor is enough to make it quit. you need a well optimized environment for the roborock to work. the vibra mopping of the s7/s8 is superb though.
The roomba doesn't talk!
I have a j7+ and the mapping sucks
WTF is the Roomba doing? 🤣🤣🤣 ...its like a silly chicken with a high-tech sensor array - useless in my opinion. And the "the Roomba went home already" but didn't do the job at all says it all.

yeah the roborock did a better job
Roborock is the best
Sold my roomba after 6 months. Useless. Old technology.
