The hardest part of explaining Crawford to younger people, as we get older, is gonna be how impossibly calm he was in the ring, when considered against how heated the last few years of boxing discourse has been, and his place in that discourse. People are gonna forget how much air Crawford vs Spence took up for half a decade. They're gonna watch the fights, and it'll be obvious he's a killer - especially bc, like, now he's unified two belts, it has changed how normal people discuss him and his legacy. But that pre-fight interview with Jim Gray, with Bud wrapping his own hands, Jim asking him about the scale of the moment, and if he had butterflies, and Bud going 'of course there are.'? To be able to just...casually admit that, on national television, 'yeah, I'm nervous' while sounding anything but? I wont say I knew it was over, but the mastery of emotion he has shown in and around fighting is like no one I have ever seen. And then he walks out being announced as the next undisputed welter by Eminem, over *that* song? I'm not sure any of that is gonna translate when kids are watching this a decade from now, arguing about where Crawford ranks - just like I know I am always missing something looking back at the fighters I didnt get to see live. Glad I caught this one.

Well said Teddy. It feels so good to hear Crawford finally getting the recognition he has deserved for so long. I have watched this man's greatness for many years and thought to myself that nobody is going to beat this man. I'm not sure Floyd could of beaten Crawford in his prime because of the power Crawford has. Floyd was always so much more athletic than his opponents that helped give Floyd the advantage, but with Crawford's athleticism it would take away Floyds advantage and thats why i might have to lean towards Crawford because of his power. I haven't seen that kind of power in the Welterweight division, i think ever!! There's a video out there on youtube somewhere, i wish i would of saved it, but Crawford is having a hit off with another boxer that is tall and thin and when its Buds turn, he hits that heavy bag like i've never seen anybody hit a heavy bag. He just destroys it, i sat there and was almost in disbelief, because i've never seen anybody move a heavy bag the way Crawford was. The look on his face was like he was possessed. It was one of the most impressive displays of power that i've seen in boxing period!! I still think alot of people don't realize that Crawford's power is on another level. His strength also surprises every opponent he fights. Bud was a good wrestler in his younger days which allows him to have body control over his opponents when they clench. Another thing i think is great about Crawford is how humble he is and the amount of respect he shows the other fighter when the fight is over. I swear i seen a couple of times that Bud pulled back on Spence, when he probably could of knocked him out earlier. If Bud trains the way he did for the Spence fight in the future, nobody will be Bud. The only way Crawford gets beat is by himself or his age starts to slow him down. He is definately an all time great.

I respect your opinion but u are way off brother. Mayweather fought until 40. Mayweather at 27-28, was lightening fast on another level. Crawford is not a super power puncher. Why Crawford is already one of the greats for me: 1. Teddy said it: cold-stone, fearless. At the same time, he works to avoid getting punched. He sure isn't afraid to get punched. It's a matter of business - boxing business and just being smart. 2. Boxing IQ and the ability to adjust mid-fight. Jeff Horn round 3 for example. 3. Can take a punch - hard to tell for sure on this, but I'm looking at the Kavaliauskas punch and Crawford's recovery. You might say he's missing the X factor somewhat - ticket salesman and all that. Fair enough, but that doesn't win fights.

To someone that isn’t familiar with that it can sound like the person is either drugged or drunk. Lmao Plus people love their fighters so will hold onto excuses. Look at all the people still defending Wilder saying he was drugged.

I knew it was going to be a tough fight for Spence but I don't dislike him and to see him go down this convincingly was a bit heart wrenching (first time I ever experienced it watching a pro boxing match) and it took away from Crawford superb boxing skills, which should have been the main focus of this fight for me. Spence was utterly and completely flustered and out of his depth in there, I never seen Spence so disoriented and confused, something was off, it didn't make sense to me. Been watching Crawford since the Gamboa win and I've been a fan ever since because during that fight the announcers were questioning his moves like going to southpaw and he proved them wrong by knocking the guy out viciously and making him look pedestrian as far as his skills. During the Spence Crawford fight Spence hit him numerous times you don't see it as much because everybody's highlighting what Crawford did but Spence connected at least 10 to 20 solid shots in the body and the head and it did not faze Crawford because he can take a punch. When you get in there with Crawford it happens really fast he don't want to knock you out in the first round because if that second round had 30 more seconds that fight would have been over then. He wants to hurt you he wants to run you through about 9 to 10 rounds and punish you and then knock you out. I don't need the Spence Crawford fight to know how good he is I've been watching him and watching his fights on KZread and pay-per-view for years He's that good and I hope people don't think he's that good and sleep on him and run up in that ring with him so he can fols them up and put them to sleep and get paid and go home. In my opinion and I've watched them both he would have no problem beating Floyd Mayweather He's got more power he's just as fast the only thing Floyd has is the defense but Crawford can get through that He's just that good. Floyd was a good prize fighter and that's what it's about getting paid and when he wanted to he could hurt you but that wasn't his game his game was given the audience 10 to 12 boring rounds and then during those rounds showing you a flash or two of offense collecting a check and going home. Again this is my opinion it would have been nice to see that fight. Like Teddy says he goes in their calm he never gets emotional in the ring. I just wish that Crawford had a brother or a twin just like him that was a heavyweight😊

Meeting weight is a matter of nutrition not “draining.” It’s more s matter of time when a boxer simply tires of the discipline required to meet weight and has little to do age. Nutritionists know this. I really respect Errol. People were talking about the car crash has taken away “something.” I think in fact that it gave him the will to keep getting up after being pummeled and outboxed so thoroughly. People are acting as if (1) Bud bringing his A+ game and (2) Spence being terrible are mutually exclusive. They really aren't. Bud put in an astonishing, career best performance. However, Spence put on a career worst performance, and that's not simply about Crawford's tactics. Spence has always been a terminator, who doesn't get tired, doesn't get hurt, punches like a machine and is as solid as a rock. That looked NOTHING like the Spence in the Ugas fight: - He was EXHAUSTED after 3-4 rounds!! This is a guy who can go at a super high intensity for 12 rounds without breaking a sweat!! - He got knocked down by a punch to the shoulder?!! Badly hurt, bleeding and puffed up after receiving a few punches!? He has never been hurt before in a fight and suddenly he's half dead after a round? He was lethargic, weak and unsteady - and looked like 30% of the fighter he normally is. Couldn't move, couldn't punch and couldn't take a punch. That doesn't detract from Crawford's performance but let's be real - he was way, way, way, way off. Why, I have no idea - but that was a shell of Errol.

Crawford walks around at 160lbs... he will be PERFECT at 154lbs. Crawford can easily put on that extra weight without suffering any loss in ability. Charlo is NOT anywhere close to Crawfords level and Charlo's chin will most likely not hold up against Crawfords power. Charlo will have to get on a Citi bike and ride around the ring, try to tap and move tap and move and hope to win a decision. Unfortunately, i don't believe Charlo can stay away long enough to survive and he will get caught and KOd or TKOd. Castaño gave Charlo waaaayyy too much trouble and he is nowhere near Crawford's caliber nor power

No rematch…More Weight is just gonna make Spence even slower and more off balance…Why is no one talking about the difference in the trainers? If Crawford was a team and Spence was a team everyone on “first take” Monday morning would’ve been talking about how severely out coached Spence was. Crawford’s trainer was talking all truth before this fight to Spence’s guy. It all makes so much sense now and Spence’s guy knew it inside.

I am not to much of an expert but maybe he refers to this type of whiplike punch as how Tommy Hearns and Gerald McClellan would punch. Teddy could you please elaborate on this next podcast? My peace of mind depends on it haha. Love both of yuz.

I’ll mention 3 fights that are possibly similar. Collins vs Resto, Cotto vs Margarito 1 and Wilder vs Fury 2. Even though a professional Photographer’s photos during the Wilder fight showed one of Fury’s gloves was concave. The other glove you can clearly see the outline of four fingers. And Fury’s sleeves on his robe were extremely long, you couldn’t see his gloves. There was no investigation. Supposedly Derek James checked Crawford’s gloves after the fight. This is how Billy Collins Team found padding missing from Resto’s gloves. An investigation was done, and Fighter and Trainer went to Prison. Cotto’s face in the first Margarito fight tuned red real fast, and by the 3rd Round I could tell something was wrong. He was getting hurt with every punch landed. And he changed the way he normally fought. I knew he was a better fighter than Margarito. Margarito later got caught prior to the Moseley, by Nazzim Richardson with loaded Wraps. No investigation, no punishment and was still able to box. When he fought Cotto again, he didn’t have the destructive power he had in the first fight. Wilder fought a Boxer in the first fight, a fighter who wasn’t known for his power. In the second fight, Fury become a puncher, walking to Wilder, unlike what was shown in their first fight. Where did the extra power come from. The Damage done to Wilder so early in the fight, was unlike anything he had experienced, or what Fury had ever achieved. Now the Spence Crawford fight. Crawford had never done that to any opponents face ever, similar but worse than Cotto’s. He seemed to be hurt by every punch Crawford landed. He became hesitant to pull the trigger Cotto had more mobility with his style, Errol has never been that Mobile, because of his style and defense. When you get rocked, sometimes it’s hard to recover, and Crawford took advantage and pushed him off when he tried to tie up. I wonder if the Spence Team dropped the Ball like Cotto’s Team in the first fight. I don’t believe the Officials who watched the wrapping of Margarito’s hands and signing off on the legality of the wraps for the Mosely fight we’re punished. I love boxing, but it’s a “Dirty Game” at times!

Forget the obvious that everyone mentioned speed difference power difference ring IQ ext thing that impressed me most is the fact Bud beat the natural southpaw at southpaw! Bud is a switch hitter but he is naturally orthodox & he beat one of the best lefties at his own stance!

I totally agree with Mr. Teddy Atlas within this entire interview. It is my opinion that Terence Crawford totally outclassed Errol Spence Jr.. Spence is a fantastic and fabulous fighter however he's never come up with someone with the skills and ability to reset, change, adapt, counter etc. as Crawford. If I was Terence Crawford, I'd take the Charlo fight, win, and then spend the next 9 fights taking on known names and former champions like Kieth Thurman to encompass a 51-0 record with no youtubers or MMA fighters. As a coach/trainer, I always liked the nature of Terence Crawford and appreciate his skills and would like him to become the only 3 weight undisputed champion AND take away Floyd Mayweather's fraudulent record of 50-0....... I firmly believe that if Floyd Mayweather met Terence Crawford in their primes, I truly believe that Terence Crawford would figure out Mayweather's shell game and end the fight in a stoppage before the 10th round..... It is such a shame that Bob Arum didn't promote Terence Crawford that he should have been. Bob Arum should have promoted the .... right out of Crawford. Heck, he'd probably 50-0 by now had Bob Arum promoted Crawford to fight 2-3 times a year...

I've been a fan of TC for a minute, not even as long as some other huge fight fans. But his true fans see something that apparently others don't. First heard of Bud when I saw highlights of Klimov & Burns bouts, but then I caught his match vs Gamboa & in 2 secs I saw a Master of the sweet science. Then I heard him speak afterwards & that was all I needed to know he's different. Possessed-level of commitment to the mission in the ring, like a controlled rage. Incredible!!! His mental game, attitude in the ring, focus + execution level is top notch. He's been best P4P for me since Horn fight. Charlo can try but best believe he hasn't faced anything like Bud.

Both conclusions can be correct about Spense. I picked #TerranceN10 but thought it would be a MUCH MORE of a competitive fight. I think the weight could have caused him some probems but still not to the extent that it would have changed the end result. Styles make fights.Crawford would always be a bad matchup for him.
