Who Were the Shepherds?
Almost every nativity set includes shepherds who had been abiding in the fields keeping watch over their flock. After the angel told them that Christ the Lord had been born and would be wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger, with haste they went looking for the newborn King. Once they found Jesus who had indeed been born in a manger, they worshipped the Messiah and immediately spread the word of his miraculous birth. This video explores the meaning of the story of the shepherds in the Bible and how we too can be witnesses of Jesus Christ.

Wow. The shepherds were despised by the community and Jesus is called the shepherd and he also was despised and rejected by men. I've never made that connection before. Thank you for a great video.

I was taught early on in the church that these shepherds were of the Leviticus p.h. and we’re taking care of the Temple flocks for sacrifice.

@@ForeclosureGhost Your illiteracy is fascinating. Try reading Bible, like Gospel of John chapter 18 verse 36, where Jesus declares that his kingdom is not of this world, but of above. Maybe you will also like to read Prophet Isaiah 9:5, where Jesus is declared as mighty God, prince of peace, wonderful councilor and everlasting father.

This is another fabulous video and message by the Messages of Christ KZread channel. I lived and studied in Jerusalem and have had the blessing of going to the shepherds' fields outside of Bethlehem. I frequently think about the shepherds who attended Christ's birth and what they witnessed. I found the point made about shepherds witnessing the firstborn lambs who would likely be sacrificed in the Jerusalem temple, and then witnessing Christ's birth to be particularly insightful.

The meqning of the 'shepherds in the field' scenario is this: Down at Ain Feshkha, the 'farm', the pastors or 'shepherds' were meeting for the equinox. The 'Angel of the Lord' , Simeon/Simon the Essene, the Abiathar-Gabriel priest came to them & announced the new regime & that the 12 year old Jesus would continue the succession. The ministers sang a hymn of praise and declared the new policy 'peace on earth'.
