I'm a Gregg, from the MacGregor Clan. My uncle did our lineage all the way back to Scotland. May Rob Roy Rest in Eternal Peace
I am actually a descendant of Rob Roy. He’s my ninth great-uncle. Thank you for this. You made learning my lineage more interesting.

is the movie remotely accurate to his story?
Was he a Scottish Robin Hood, or just a Hood? Yes, but not just any kind of hood. He was an exceptional hood. We should not judge his deeds (real or imagined) by today's sense of morals, but by the times and the places in which they occurred. I was pleased to know that his burial place has been preserved, along with Mary and two of his sons. I visited this place (not easy to find), and while it is not a tourist attraction, it is worth a visit. One is strangely drawn to it.

You sound like a rather intelligent fella. That's rare, these days.
As a MacGregor I couldn’t wait to watch this video. Really appreciate this one Eric
Very very good presentation freind ,thanks for your time on this topic much appreciated 🇬🇧
Masterfully done. This channel is turning into a real institution on KZread. Congrats!
That was awesome, thanks for the lesson, Eric!!!! Much appreciated!😊❤
Well done, Eric. More, more please!
Personally, I don't think he robbed Montrose, and think Montrose had one of his factors set Rob up. I usually go to pay my respects to the man and his kin whenever I drive back to the Highlands. Feels like a place of pilgrimage for some reason.
Very interesting and well-done presentation.
Nice bit of History, well done!
Very well done one of the most accurate presentations on the McGregor that I have seen or read about. A very well balanced, and as far as we know accurate description of a fella, that was a man of his times.
Enjoy the video ! Always love watching or reading Scottish history ! Thank you
Great video. More please.
He was both, or neither, depending on what was most advantageous at the moment.
I'll never see Liam Neeson in the same light again. Sigh. For some reason, I've never read Rob Roy in all these decades. I'll have to remedy that.
My ancestors on my fathers side came from the low lands of Scotland to America in 1760. Back when the Scotts had a choice of North Ireland or North America my ancestors chose North America. My last name suggest that my ancestors where the subjects of an English vassel nobility of the low lands, and took on the sir name mantel of the local lords nobility title for protection from being robed or taxed.
Although a lot of history of Rob Roy is fictionalized, from everything I have read, he did NOT die peacefully of old age, but from the wound of a duel.
fair to say the Liam Neeson movie is totally different to the book then?
+USAKiltsOfficial *I understand Rob Roy Mac Greguir to be both rebel and con man out of necessity.* Mac Greguir was on Clan Donald's most-wanted chart, therefore on the lam.
So much you missed out but good .
Actually, Highland cattle theft was as serious as house rolling in the US. All that was needed was to show your deed to the local breive and he would get your cattle back.
This guy gives off major Kurgen vibes
Hmm...perhaps these Jacobites are somehow involved in the torture and death of my ancestor in 1666, John the Martyr...need to research him more too...
Ah the good old days of killing your enemies and raiding not to mention fighting English.
Crieff is in no way a Border town. Time for a Geography lesson Eric
I'm sure he died in bed from a wound received in a dual.
Youre wearing a skirt, mate
