Who was Ned Kelly? The History of Australia's Notorious Bushranger Gang - Behind the News

The 11th November 2020 marks 140 years since Ned Kelly was hanged at Melbourne Gaol. Matt scores an exclusive interview with the famous bushranger to find out more about his life, his crimes, his death and his legend.
Ned Kelly and his brothers had a gang that held up banks and farmhouses in the bush. That's why they were called bushrangers. The Kelly gang wore strange protective armour, which has since become iconic. At the time, quite a number of poor people were angry at the authorities. So, when Kelly and his gang started to embarrass the police, by constantly getting away with their crimes, disenfranchised members of the public started to see him as a hero. They even started a saying you still might hear. "As game as Ned Kelly." Ned Kelly eventually pushed his luck too far, as was cornered by police in a hotel called the 'Glenrowan Inn.' Many of the gang were killed and Ned Kelly was taken prisoner and eventually hanged. But what exactly happened during that final battle is still something of a mystery.
