It's just a joke based around the fact that the host always had to ask "is that your final answer" and a lot of times it felt like he psyched the contestant out of answering correctly. No he wasn't trying to do it on purpose, the host doesn't know the answer, and more often than not would also steer the contestant out of answering wrong just as much as right you just remember the times where the guy would have gotten it right. See 'norm mcdonald on who wants to be a millionaire'

@@anonymousperson3023 I mean that's pretty much what Who Wants to be a Millionaire was in real life at least on the US version, the Audience was good up until you reached the first threshold after which the questions gradually became more obscure and esoteric, at that point most members of the audience are just guessing and it would hurt contestants more than it would help.

It's not that strange. There have been a few contestants who got that far. There was even one contestant who famously got to the very last question, and then used his first and only lifeline to call his dad simply to tell him "Dad, I'm gonna walk away with a million dollars" and nothing else.

The best way if doing it is to ask the audience first, that way the people just guessing will be spread out evenly between all 4 answers and won't dramatically swing the answer one way or the other

im in 9th grade and I have been watching SNL since 5th grade. I have learned almost all of the cast members that have been on there ever since the 70's till now. I used to watch studio C when I was younger but I never learned anything about them. Imma come back here in a year once i have learned EVERYTHING.

I love the joke set ups here. The audiance voting 100% George, and Regis specifically says "You're wife was one of them", guilting Matt into possibally saying "Yes my wife was wrong and an idiot."
