Back then the phone-a-friend was often trying to search the answer (boo!) and the computer would be too slow. You can often even hear the clickety-clack.

It happened a lot. Clickety-clack clickety-clack. Ruins the game. And the person probably knew it anyway, but want listening or trusting themselves. And so the dumbing-down trouble began

You know, usually an hour of TV is 44 minutes without commercials, so I guess I was right when I complained about this show having too many commercials.

the episode is shortened because of GSN’s time compression, it usually is 44 minutes but it's shortened to 42 because GSN loves commercials.

Scott had his buddy the googler as the lifeline but it was a super difficult word to spell and he ran out of time. Could've just googled Dec 2000 volcano eruption and would've had the answer. He wasted time getting him to give the exact spelling.

How is it bullshit? You can have a local or a long distance conference call, and call waiting isn't a requirement. You can use a speakerphone when calling one other person, and you don't necessarily need it for a conference call. What makes a conference call a conference call is that three or more people are participating in the call.
