The strange timing is all because of Wayne Bennett’s insistence that he won’t negotiate with clubs that have an encumbent coach. So Parra had no choice to sack BA, and that’s why they approached Bennett the very next day. It’s all because of the wrecking ball “integrity” of Wayne Bennett.

Keep Barrett this year, maybe Bennett can coach souths Monday and Wednesday and Parra on Tuesdays and Thursdays and toss for Friday. That way souths can be spooners and parra one above that.

Brett Kenny has maintained for years that player scouting and retention has been the clubs downfall....ps is like to see Adrian lam have a go at coaching the eels, I've had a little to do with him over the years...rate him as a great leader and a highly intelligent player

Trent Barrett is the man for the job. He left Manly for the right reason and he fell foul of coach assassin Gould at Canterbury. He is a quality person and has the right experience as a player, and on the coaching staff at Parra. He would have the support of the players and provided he had control of the list, he would lead Parra to a premiership.

Barretts record is attrocious. He basically destroyed manly while he was there and they had to rebuild. His record is 5 wins of his last 17 coached. He is assistant level at best. Parras troubles started when trent joined as coach assistant. It was still ultimately Brads fault though.
