Wrestling exhausts so much energy when you’re grappling though, either up against the fence or on the ground. If he does manage to get Izzy down he probably would’ve been gasssed after the first round and wouldn’t have had the legs or arms to last a 5 round fight. Also, he’s probably actually 50 years old instead of 43. If you go by the Cuban to America athlete equation lol. These guys come over with no birth certificate so it’s anybody’s guess as to their real age. Having said that, Romero could pass for early 30’s with his stature. He’s a freak of nature. Cuban athletes are complete wildcards lol.

In Yoels favor, everytime he took a step forward Izzy took 3 backwards and circled. Being the much shorter guy, this made it almost impossible for Yoel to close the distance. Romero left hook game plan worked twice izzy made adjustments and started picking him off but Romero kept on waiting for izzy to come at him. He was so salty izzy didn't do what he wanted and izzy developed a new plan in fight after Romero decided he didn't want to fight until he saw he was going to lose by points. I mean compare izzy's last round against gastelum he wanted that win so bad Romero didn't chase down that belt like every champion did, he wanted it at the centre of the octagon like a wwe money in the bank case. Rapha S. I might add that Izzy neutralized that overhand after getting stung twice by it. From what I remember, Yoel was countering Izzy’s forward pressure, which was usually a front kick or round kick of some sort, by punishing him with that overhand right. However after getting stung a few times, Izzy was able to get his guard up and block it pretty effectively in the following rounds. I suppose the threat was still there though

Romero said pre fight every fighter has a flaw and he has seen Izzy’s and would show everyone! Could it not be possible that Romero decided to not give Izzy the looks he “needs” and then he takes away Izzy’s biggest weapons???? Yoel's strategy was to literally stand there and try to bait Izzy into over extending. Also for any idiot that says Izzy was "running" he moved out of the way when Romero bursted forward, and then immediately was back on Romero, once again what do you want him to do, stand there and get KO'd? Or perhaps start exchanging in the pocket with Yoel fucking Romero when that's not izzy's game. Izzy is the champ, Yoel is the challenger, it's on Yoel to TAKE the belt.

Romero is the challenger. He’s there where others want to be challenging for the belt. You can’t squander a chance like that by not doing anything and leaving it up to the score cards or giving it a crack. The champ just has to win, doesn’t matter if it’s boring or not. Romero stuffed up should have chased and not left it to the score cards or what little they could score.

The main point of fight for Issy was not to keep belt . But to show he could do to Yoel what other fighters could not hence legacy goat status. Did he do that.. If someone is standing in front of you, not moving and just covering their face, the logical thing is to attack the legs and body with kicks. Especially if you're the taller fighter. Yoel's gameplan was to literally stand there and catch him with a huge overhand right. He caught Izzy with it the first round and that's when Izzy realized that's all Yoel will be doing the entire fight. So Izzy strikes from the outside If you're trying to counter with an overhand right, the way Yoel did it is not the way. You set it up with jabs, leg kicks, feints, movements. Yoel did none of this. Just waiting for the overhand Right or just bum rushing and hoping for the best. Every Striker knows that Izzy would just attack from the outside with a gameplan like Yoels Yoel was trying to make Izzy make a mistake and attack a defense shell and Izzy did the first round and didn't after

Sounds like a good way to win by out pointing someone. But why would you call out Yoel to fight him like that? He wanted to make a statement by beating him more convincingly than anyone and finish him. But he was scared to get closer than kickboxing range the whole fight and turn around and ran anytime Yoel tried to close the gap in any way. When Yoel tried to fight he ran, when Yoel waited for Izzy to come at him he wouldnt do it. He wanted to stay on the outside and pop leg kicks. I mean it got the job done he won by points but did he really beat him? He called out a brawler to a point fight lol

Izzy said he'd win a fight. Romero solved that by refusing to fight.

This fight was decided before they even booked hotel rooms for the fighters. It was decided that Romero will lose. The only reason Romero was so pissed off is because the match was boring, since Adesanya showed nothing. Romero did what he could (within the limitation that he wasn't allowed to win) while Adesanya who had no limitations, and was allowed to do whatever he wanted, showed nothing. Romero is only satisfied if the audience is satisfied, whether he won or lose. If audience is bored to death, Romero is pissed off.

I scored for Izzy because Romero showed NO agression or control. He didn't initiate exchanges. Izzy did all of that, however he did it. Octagon control isn't standing in the middle being stationary; you have to EXERT control of the Octagon.

@@armandoteamouwu9420 that is the question. Some people are backing Yoel. Personally I think Israel was attacking more. You have to beat the champ not just stand there, hopefully thinking you can knock him out with a counter.

Carlos D. Yes he can say he’s he best. Over 25 mins he did more than your bf Romero to win. Romero’s leg was fucked lol. If the fight kept going till the last man standing.....oh shit, it’s probably go to Romero cos that’s all he fuckn did 🤣🤣🤣🤣 nah, Izzy would’ve crippled him and brought that statue down.

After the Jones/Reyes fight and the Romero/Adesanya fight UFC needs to show judges cards after each round. There is no way Adesanya did enough to win rounds 1 and 2

My son (17) actually fell asleep watching this main event final. I thought Romero's plan was to expose Adesanya as timid, scared, solely a counter-punch fighter. I thought Romero advanced more, held center of ring more, attacked more, took more chances, did more damage with hands, took him down, etc. All Adesanya did was circle and stay outside in thigh-kick range and never engage, never fight. This is the fight game, not a points fighting match held in some local gymnasium. Very poor performance by Adesanya and one that made him look like a coward.
