I didn't know about Beemer vs Bimmer until my coworker told me he owns a BMW motorcycle which is a Beemer. And I would choose 3 pedals all day. I get that autos are faster but I enjoy shifting my own gears.

I bought one in the early 90s. I occasionally heard beemer but never once heard anyone say bimmer.

The guy with the z8 was a customer of mine I shipped it for him nice to see a happy customer!

Beemer is the BMW Motorcycle, Bimmer is the car. Period.

While the suggested pronunciations of the title are definitely wrong, I wouldn't go as far as to say the letters in an acronym have to be pronounced the way they are in their original language. It's not like with Porsche, where saying "porsh" or "porsh-uh" is definitely wrong, because Ferdinand Porsche's name is pronounced "porshe", with a short e like in "get". BMW are just letters, not a name.

What a stupid question, it's neither! The brand is called BMW. You can spell it however you spell those letters in your language, since it's an acronym, not a name, but "beemer" or "bimmer" is not it! 💁

Is this channel dead?

In France we say "Bay-M" without the "er" or "w" at the end, and it would be an E30 2 door 3 pedals for me 🙂

@Herr_Keystyne tja, aber erkläre das mal schriftlich einem Englischen Muttersprachler. Der englische "V"-Sound kommt für sich alleine stehend dem deutschen "W" am nächsten und als Buchstabe in einem Wort wird das englische V _exakt_ wie das deutsche W ausgesprochen.

I wouldn't say it has to be pronounced the German way, since BMW is not a name in the traditional sense, it's just three standalone letters put together. VW is a better example of what I mean: "Wee-doubleU" is fine, "Woulkswäggön" is wrong!
