Can people please just wake up and realize that WSM is no longer what it used to be? Up to now it doesn't look like they're doing anything to change that, and this year they literally didn't announce athletes or events until 2 weeks before the comp. WSM is a dying brand, while other comps like ASC are holding strong, and new comps like The Shaw Classic (SMOE) and Rogue Invitational have already surpassed it. The old guard (sorry to include you here, Loz) are just holding onto hope that it will regain it's prestige, when really it's only the title of "World's Strongest Man" that trick people into thinking it's still the best. Sure, it sounds cool. You know what sounds cooler? Strongest Man on Earth! These new shows also pay better and give an exponentially better fan experience, especially for those of us that like to stream these shows. I love strongman with every bone in my body, yet I do not have any problems saying the other comps are leaving it in the dust.

If there are invites, there should be a list of ~50 athletes that are invited (30), 31-32 being reserve and 33-50 as reserve for the reserve. The list should be closed at least 3 months before the WSM and be published for those 50. If anyone drops because of the injury or turns down the invitation, this person should be removed from the list and everyone should go up with the placing. It would mean no late call ups, everyone would have a clear vision if they have chance of being one of the final invites or no. Visas can be sorted out way before it's too late. The only downside would be not inviting a rising stars that did great shortly before WSM, but the athlete selection and prep for the comp would be more fair across the lineup. But hey, it's WSM, a freakshow, not a real comp. Good to see Thor not giving a damn about this subpar show.

It's a real shame Rongo didn't get an invite, he's more than strong enough to be there and deserves it more than some of the existing invites. We didn't need to shoehorn in 11 US athletes did we? (Or sure, 9, if we're really going to count Cambi and Andrade as representing Italy and Mexico instead). There are more than enough international athletes capable of competing at the level that it takes the piss they fill up as many slots as they do just because they're less hassle to invite.

Short time frame isn't an excuse, they have literally the entire year to plan the roster and work on making sure they have a diverse pool of possible reserves, but they don't, because it's easier for them to just invite another american. I was glad to see they invited Roszkowski, they just could've done more. Jordan Osborne? Jokužys? Coco? Kohlruss? Kelvin de Ruiters? Any other competitive SCL guys, or national title holders?

Bryce changed it so for the first and only time, there was more static events than dynamic events. Last moment switch up too so people couldn't prepare...Eddie probably knew though because that's his boy. That's cheating, sorry. Another absent competitor is Jean-Stephen Coraboeuf. I can only assume his decision to represent France after qualifying through the Australian strongman circuit means he now has to qualify through Europe now. I always thought it was a strange decision by him considering he actually came from New Caledonia, a French overseas territory, not France itself and he's an Australian resident. If anything he should've represented New Caledonia. However, it was a decision he was perfectly entitled to make.

Thor won’t ever be keeping in Giants Live again after GL executive Colin Brice was exposed to have been rigging events for his sponsored athletes. We Bryce saw fit that events were rigged for Eddie Hall and Luke Stoltman that accentuated their strengths. Thor remonstrated this fact for years and was excoriated by Eddie Hall and GL until a conversation with a former WUS exec and Luke Stoltman surfaced that proves Thor was right all along about Colin Bryce’s corruption.

It’s not only good for fans of the sport but also good for the athletes as they can personally monetise themselves through the exposure

Is because Colyn rigged WSM 2017 and other shows in favor of certain atlethes like Hall and the Stoltmans´. Thor and other atlethes complained about it in 2017 but only Thor had the balls to keep his allegations. Thor moved on and when he was working with WUS in order to break the deadlift record Eddie Hall and Colyn threw him under the bus, to wich Thor respond saying he would never work for GL or WSM again, thne he broke the record, challengued REddie to a fight and in the build up to said fight Hall and Colyn made a documentary throwing absolute shade to Thor, sayhing he was a bad loser, that he comlained for double dips, wich he did and refuse to shake Halls hand after Eddie won. Now, though there is footage of Thor complainging about the double dip with Colyn, he was also right to call him on, cause days prior he showed Colyn how he does the viking press and Colyn gave thumbs up. However, that was never the main point, the main point was that the vents where last minute changued in something much more in favor to Eddie, wich was Thor´s point and something dumb people still seem to not get to this day. Furthermore, Hall insisted that Thor never shaked his hand, despise official footage of WSM showing otherwise, in other words, Thor did congratulated him. Furhtemore, Thor´s beef was never with Eddie, but Colyn, until Eddie threw shade at him before destroying his WR. Now, some days before Thor humbled Eddie Hall in the ring for good and changued his name to "Eddie the Crab Hall", Mark Boyd, a WUS promotor leaked an actual phone call with Luke stoltman where Luke admitted he and his brother where favored by Colyn at WSM, ..." jus like he did for Eddie", Luke said. This phone call shook WSM and the Stoltman´s to the bone and they allegued they here tapped without their autorization but regardless the call was legit, That day, the strenght World knew that Thor was right from day one. Well, that and countless evidence. Then he put Eddie down in the ring.

I know you don't want the video to be too long, and most of your viewers already know the answer. Another video idea: your DREAM 30 athlete lineup, or in other words who would be on your invite list for 2025? No caveats or qualifiers, assume everyone is healthy this time next year and willing to compete. Just create your most stacked lineup possible. Would be a fun topic. Great content as always.

I'm going to share the story as I remember it. If I got anything wrong, someone please correct me: Thor lost the WSM 2016 to Eddie Hall by one point, and many said and still say it was under shady circumstances. Feeling cheated, Thor shared once or twice on his Instagram that he got cheated. Things got heated between him and the WSM organizers, including Colin Bryce, who, under the banner of Giants Live, partnered up with Eddie Hall with the permission of WSM to produce and publicly post an entire documentary on two major KZread channels. The documentary was aimed to defame and tarnish Hafthor's image by using highly altered footage with the clear intent of forging a narrative. Since then, Hafthor doesn't want anything to do with WSM and GL, and it is what led to the boxing fight between him and Eddie.
