Who made this song?

Ойын-сауық

the internet has a lot of mysteries, it's a pretty mysterious place! however.. this song has alluded internet detectives for years.. It's name?.. it doesn't have one.. the most common word's it goes by is "like the wind". but even that's up for debate! why are people so fascinated with this song? and more importantly.. where did it come from?

Honestly if this song didn't slap so hard, nobody would care about who wrote it. Just because media is lost, doesn't mean people want to find it. But the fact that such a talented artist is just out there somewhere, makes this one of my favourite rabbit holes.

there is also this song called "everyone knows that" or "ulterior motives" that is also really mysterious because it apeared on the 1980's without a certain stage of the decade, it appeared on a random 1980 commercial and was posted in 2021 by a guy named "jaykay" that also uploaded another song that we call "la cancion de alicia" in watzatsong, they were both plublished in 2021 EDIT: it was found 😭

From 1985 to 1993, I worked in a record store, selling new and used records. The store had been in business since 1975, and continues to this day. I used to marvel at the number of "independent" records we had, that went back to the mid 1960s. Some were local (Wilmer & The Dukes, New Math, Chesterfield Kings, Duke Jupiter, etc.) that had records that were talked about and sold, but once that time was up, they were just stored away. And I only knew these ones because they were local, if you were to ask me about regionalisms from Michigan, Wisconsin, etc...I wouldn't have a clue. The problem is that once something like that comes out...if it ever does...is usually forgotten about...and/or sinks like a stone. If "Like The Wind" was released - at all - chances are that, over time, they were dumped in the trash, or stored in some bug infested vinyl storage room...to this day. Will we ever find out? Well, an old inside joke at the store where I worked was; "how long you plan on livin' in town?"

In 1991-92 I was on a message board for new song ideas and one thread I joined a music writer asked for short stories that give a sense of wonder. Of course years later found out his name is Brad Roberts. I told 2 of my stories which were used. My first story was about an event that took place across the street from Lakewood Elementary School in Euless texas where I laughed at a kid while waiting for school bus and a kid hit me because that was his best friend and the kid had pure white hair and his friend told me he got into a car accident. My seconds story was about a kid I sort of befriended and he was not allowed to have friends but they invited me to go to church with them and they at one point durring service were all flopping on the floor and this shocked me as I was just 14-15 years old. The other story with burn marks was not my story but while we told these stories other commenters were livid saying that is not sense of wonder! That is a stupid story to tell! Well for us it was real life and really took place. Those stories made their way into the song Mmm MmmMmm. To this day comments saying the song is about abuse is totally wrong. Even to this day those events made me wonder. Life is strange.

There's a place, as there's no sorrow. ... Dreaming Take it in, take it out while The Sun will never Shiiineee. Well I know it anyway, [I'm [somwhere / some way] on your mind? / that some way [on] you min[e/d]?] Take it in, take it out while The Sun will never Shiiineee. Well I know it anyway, [I'm [somwhere / some way] on your mind? / that some way [on] you min[e/d]?] Take it in, take it out with some [ruse?], Tear it in, tear it out if you [believe in you?] Take it in, take it out with some [ruse?], Tear it in, tear it out if you [believe in you?] Take it in, take it out with some [ruse?], Tear it in, tear it out if you [believe in you?] Take it in, take it out with some [ruse?], Tear it in, tear it out if you [believe in you?] Take it in, take it out with some [ruse?], Tear it in, tear it out if you [believe in you?]

It must be a redo of the song. Possibly a fan of Statues in Motion that decided to goof around with the song and changed the rythm. Possibly died later on so no witness. German radio station possibly cant reveal it because they dont have the archives of the author and song

@steinful Around the 3:00 mark of your video you have a shot of the lyrics that you pan through with a fade. I wasn't able to read the chorus outro with the fade. Would you be able to post in them fully as a pinned post? From what I can tell, these are the most accurate lyrics of this song. I have watched several lyric videos that have their own interpretation of what the lyrics are, but the ones you have seem spot on. I just stumbled onto this whole "Mysterious Song/ Like The Wind" phenomenon tonight, and this song mystery is addictive, as well as the song is amazing. If you could post the full lyrics, I would be most grateful, as I am sure a lot of others that are interested in this song.

I've always thought it quite possible that it's a demo tape. Furthermore, the idea that it was all done by one person and recorded in a home studio is not out of the question either. A couple things this theory has in its favor are that it narrows the circle of people who knew about it, and secondly, the artist may have passed away in the decades since its recording. This would explain the mystery of why no one has come forward to claim it as their composition. (I think it's a great song, personally.) Finally, I actually think aspects of the recording sound a little 'homemade', like the way the lyrics come back in after the instrumental interlude (not smooth & seamless), the lack of clarity at points on the vocal track, and the mix of the drum track. Whatever the case, a cool musical mystery I wouldn't have thought possible in our internet era!

Just a thought, but could it have been recorded in '82, then recorded again by someone trying to 'fix' it by using a different synth? Perhaps it's multiple files that sound very, very similar. (Honestly, I'm going to have to do something similar, myself, one of these days, as one of my songs was corrupted, as well as one of the samples I'd used to create the final piece. The old program I originally made the samples with no longer exists, so when I recreate it, I'll be using a completely different music program and I'll have to recreate some of the instrumental parts from scratch. Stranger things have happened.)
