I remember reading a theory about how Eliza’s gasp at the end wasn’t her final breath or something, but it was her reaction to being shown the audience watching the play based off of all her effort. Showing her that her efforts meant something, that all her hard work paid off.

Eliza is so selfless, she choose to tell everyone else’s story instead of telling her own. All she wants is people to remember the people she loves and the things she wanted the world to do. She didn’t care if they remembered her, she just wanted Alexander to be remembered. That just makes what Lin did with this musical mean so much more because now her story has been told to millions of people

As an (adopted) orphan, I could not have more respect for Eliza Hamilton. Not only did she save so many lives but did it as a woman in the 1800s. And she lived to be 95 which was an amazing age to live to back then and still is now! Honestly Hamilton was one of the founding fathers that schools taught the least about. I heard his name once and didn’t even know he was a founding father until I listened to Hamilton like 40 times. @YufustheDufus

u heard about Richard Henry Lee? George Mason? Robert Moriss? Peyton Randolph? Roger Sherman? Andrew Adams? Jacob Broom? Pierce Butler? i could keep going on but a majority of founding fathers are never taught about, apart from George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Samuel Adams, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and maybe John Hancock. For my school, even in elementary school, I was taught of George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and Alexander Hamilton. Alexander Hamilton was one of the only founding fathers I knew before Hamilton and up until recently did I find out that there were 55 founding fathers, with seven being Key Founding Fathers; and of the Key Founding Fathers, Hamilton was defintely taught less than the others, except maybe John Jay but I wouldn't say he was one of the founding fathers that schools taught the least about, he's at most top 10 most taught founding fathers out of 55. Plus, Alexander Hamilton was one of the most taught founding fathers in my AP US class alongside George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and John Adams. Hamilton was even mentioned more than people like James Madison, John Adams, and especially Benjamin Franklin. Benjamin Franklin was only mentioned a few times with people such as John Jay and Samuel Adams being brought up more. I'll argue that Alexander Hamilton is arguable the 2nd most important founding father behind George Washington, so it is important to teach more about him. A really interesting founding father for me who is never talked about is defintely Gouverneur Morris, go check him out, he's pretty cool. p.s. Jefferson sucked :/

1:16 I love this part. It shows her looking at peoples different perspectives through color!
Eliza is kinda the true hero of Hamilton’s story in the end. Eliza could of just told the world that Alexander was a terrible person (not saying he is)or she could have just not told the world his story and stayed quiet, but she chose to tell the world his story and at that told the world he was great. Also in the process told the world the story of some of his friends. Hamilton could never have reached his success in the way that he did without her IMO (many historians agree). I love how in the show she goes from asking to be a part of the narrative to taking agency to remove herself from it. In the end she didn’t just put herself back into the narrative of the story. She became basically the author of it. That's my interpretation of the gasp at the end. She asks will all her work be enough, for the world to tell Hamilton's story and then she sees the audience.
Fun fact: eliza suffered* from memory loss, she may had memory loss but she never forgot Alexander. (She died of natural causes)

Knowing how much I ended up adoring this musical, I’m so glad that I named my son Philip Alexander. He was born in 2010 well before this came out but it just makes me love the name even more
The last song successfully made me start calling Eliza “My Dearest Eliza”, I get weird looks but I have NO REGRETS this is so beautiful btw, like in a breath taking way, how smooth the transitions are and how the movements are very well connected! The facial expressions are so well drawn I don’t know what to say honestly, this is just practically perfect in every way!

Fun Fact: At the end of this song (and therefore the end of the show), Eliza is led to the front of the stage by Hamilton, she looks up and she audibly gasps before the lights go out and the show ends. Although many people believe this simply represents her taking her last breath before her death, or an expression of joy at finally being reunited with Alexander, there is an amazing fan theory that it's not Hamilton leading her to the front of the stage, but Lin-Manuel Miranda (or whoever is playing Hamilton in whatever performance you see), and the gasp is an expression of awe at the sight of the audience. The theory is that Eliza is being shown that all her work was worth it. That the cast are telling her "you did it. You told his story. And now thanks to you, we can tell both his story, and your's."

The fact that she did all of this for the husband that cheated on her multiple times, fought with often, was partially the cause of their son dying and wanted to be with her own sister is admirable.

@@thebritishone FINALLY A FUN FACT IN THIS VIDEO THAT ISN'T SAD (Sorry for the caps)
Incredible animatic! I always think Eliza suffered the most. First, she found her soulmate,(Hamilton), but the was worried sick that her sister, (Angelica), had feelings for him, and that she may take him away from her, or he’d fall in love with her. Then, she married the one she loved,(Hamilton), only to see him go off to war. She wrote to his commander, (Ya boi George Washington), and begged him to send him home. When he finally did, she told him that she was pregnant,(with Phillip). He stayed, but then went back to the war. She was so happy and relived that George had sent him home, but then worried sick when he went back to the war. He survived, came home, and Phillip was born. Then, she discovered that Hamilton was cheating on her, which broke her heart. And the, Phillip died in a duel. And then Hamilton died in a duel. AND SOMEHOW SHE HAS THE GRIT AND DETERMINATION TO KERP GOING??!! She establishes the first Private Orphanage of New York City, Angelica dies, then finally, she passes away.

She also had to raise 9 children, one of whom sadly had a mental breakdown after the death of Philip. She was a badass.
