The presence of Romania and Bulgaria in the EU still poses problems today; although to be fair they both got better now than what they were in 2007. But still EU officials do not want a repeat.

No we don't, EU respects human rights unlike Turkey. Working standarts are low, theres corruption and backing people up on every step of the way, healthcare is the best for rich, worst for the poor, supermarkets don't even have meat other than cheap chicken meat anymore. While the president sees all of thees all he does is judge the other parties, and pick fights with other countries. Did i mention the current leadership allowed around 10 million of illegal immigrants to get in? And let them have free education and healthcare, better than the actual Turkish citizens, all of these immigrats cause problems every day everywhere, attacking people out in the steets and generally dont have good hygene, no manners, some of the ones that got Turkish citizenship(somehow) dont even know Turkish. Oh also, Turkey has a ethic seperation in itself too, there are Kurds, Zaza's and other ethnicities that refuse to accept Turkey's common way of living, and government does nothing about it. These are the reasons why Turkey will never get in EU, even if they wanted to. As a Turkish citizen I would absolutely love the benefits EU provides and all the rights i would've had. I guess we are people of two different worlds.

I'm from Moldova, and most people support EU accession. I don't know where you got the 38% from, it's more around 65%. Also, EU officials have repeatedly said that Moldova can join without solving the Transnistrian issue. If you followed actual EU discussions about Moldova and Ukraine, you'd know that Moldova has much more support than Ukraine from member states. There's also no way Serbia has more chance of joining than Moldova, knowing how eurosceptic they are. I was excited when I saw this video, but really disappointed by such a wrong appreciation of Moldova. The main problem is not the wrong and extremely outdated data, but that it supports Russian propaganda in Moldova. Russian forces are trying to convince some segments of society that "the people don't want EU integration because the EU is scary, only the government does" which is a blatant lie. Would be really useful if you could upload an edited version with the right data and review of Moldova.

Regarding Turkey, I felt like the actual reason(not talking about the process) was EU not wanting it. I think from EU point of view Turkey would immediately become a big player in the EU: Turkey has the 2nd largest army in NATO, so it will become the largest in the EU, the GDP is in top 20 in the World, so in EU it would stand #6 below Netherlands and above Poland, would be the largest by area in the EU(if we don't count Greenland), but the most of all - the largest population in the EU(which will raise Muslim population 4 times in the EU) and also the long border with the countries in the Middle East. Regarding the official process, in the video it's stated that Montenegro will become part of EU by 2028, so it's possible to close all 30+ chapters in the negotiation phase in 4 years, if both parties want it. So I wouldn't thin that the closing all the 35 chapters in negotiation phase was the real blocker.

There's an update on our progress since this video has been uploaded. Few days ago, the EU has confirmed the closure of the chapters 23 and 24 (concerning the rule of law and corruption). These are the most important chapters by far. Hopefully, we should expect to close at least 10-15 more chapters before the end of the year and open up the last 2. These chapters that I mentioned are all ready and integrated in our law, however we had to wait for the closure of the chapter 23 and 24 before closing these ones. I wouldn't put Ukraine higher than Moldova as those Moldovan territories are much less problematic than all the ukrainian war situation. Moldova has much more stable economy than Ukraine, people speak romanian there(one of the official languages of the EU and it's very small country therefore much less problematic than Ukraine. We don't even know what territories Ukraine will control and wether it will exist as a country at all while Moldova might simply join like Cyprus did with northen cyprus problem.

He did that because it was clearly stated that current political will is mainly about Ukraine, and Moldova just got the right timing. Of course the tide can change, and it may go with your scenario. People underestimate the role of geopolitics in all of this. EU needs to have close ties to Ukraine, because it can suddenly turn to Russian marionette with any elections, and the next thing you know is you've got two biggest armies in Europe at your doorstep. Who would want that? So not mandatory taking Ukraine, but tying it to EU somehow is about future of Europe, not about some charity.

@theb1z0n I want Ukraine in the EU but in order to enter the country must have good relationship with all it's neighbors, have stable and well defined borders and be financially stable. Ukraine doesn't have any of this, we don't know what will remain from it and it has budget deficit of 20% of it's gdp and it isn't able to cover it without international aid(if it ends Ukraine ends). Moldova doesn't have any of this and might enter without Transnistria like Cyprus did.

@@theb1z0n I understand that Ukraine is strategic for European safety and I fully support military and financial aid for Ukraine but entering EU violating it’s accession criteria isn’t the best thing to do both for EU and Ukrainian. Entering EU isn’t equal to Ukraine winning the war, if Europe continues to send weapons and money it might and EU membership isn’t a decisive factor. And then there is a need to acknowledge that Ukraine isn’t very democratic at least now with it’a martial law, censorship and no elections which is all understandable because of the war but its just not the country to let inside the EU in its current position, its too risky, it might turn second Hungary. It’s better wait until the war is over and if everything is okay with Ukraine then EU accession might be considered.

I don't think any country will be allowed to join until there are reforms done to the EU it's self, especially on its veto rules. But as for who could join, Ukraine is likely the least likely country to join any time soon because of the current war but also because of it's size, there are also a lot of work and reforms that will be needed in Ukraine before they are ready to join, but because of the war, it could actually speed up the process by having less opposition from the public and politicians, which could speed up the process of doing the reforms needed to join the EU sooner rather than later, but there are zero chance of that happening whiles the war is going on and until the reforms are done to the EU, which I think need to be done before 2030, so for me, Ukraine is a bit of an unknown, the war doesn't allow them to join, but the war has also made the people and political parties very pro EU, that could do wonders when it comes to doing the reforms needed to join the EU, in other words, say the war was to end today in Ukraine, the country might have far less of an issue implementing the reforms needed to join the EU, so that could speed up the process a lot compared to many other countries that drag there feet on reforms. As for the rest of the countries that want to join, it's really up to them, the sooner they do the reforms needed, reduce corruption, stabilise the political and economic system, the sooner these countries can join, if they meet all the conditions needed to join, it will put pressure on the EU and it's members to reform the EU sooner rather than later. In any case, the more of these countries that join the EU, the better for the EU and for the country in question over the long run, it will help to create political and economic stability, as well as economic growth, it will help to reduce the risk of Russia and their political games of meddling, but most importantly, the EU will in time help to develop these countries into rich countries, that's a powerful message the EU has that Russia can't counter because they can't even develop their own country into being a rich-developed country, and they can't afford to splash the cash on these countries to keep them onside whereas the EU is a lot richer and can afford to do so, not to mention all the other incentives on why countries would rather be in the EU then to side with Russia which uses countries like pawns for their own ends. So, get a move on EU, you've got till 2028 to reform the EU lol.

And add to this that Serbia is not the only EU candidate who does not recognize Kosovo (Moldova, Turkey, Bosnia and Herzegovina).

@@woesmaro Well, most Europeans don't know what these 2 are doing because they are "far away". Edi Rama is an Erdogan in the making, disrespecting the Greek minority in southern Albania and also arrested a Greek candidate that was running for major of Himara for no reason other than he wanted to place his own guy there, for his personal agenda. "North Macedonia" meanwhile, with its recent elections, got a pro-nationalist president that, during the swearing-in ceremony, called the country Macedonia and not North Macedonia on purpose. "Row over North Macedonia's name flares up again" Copy that in your broswer if you're willing. So no, they are nowhere near ready to join. And said stability and growth that the EU membership will provide won't sway them from the path of heresy. If we let them join now, they will have carte blanche to continue that behavior while Greece will have no more leverage against them. At least now, Greece can try to coerce them to drop their agendas if they wish for that lucrative EU dough since they won't change of their own will.

Interesting but at least for the moment, it should be irrelevant because the eu itself needs urgent structural reform first. Even if all those countries did everything the eu application process demanded, once a country is in the eu, there is no current mechanism to ensure it doesn’t backtrack and the few levers the eu does possess have been shown to be inadequate due to basic blackmail from the unanimity requirement. Secondly, and this is going to sound so heartless, but all current candidate countries will be net recipients, so are the current members ok with the pool of funds being significantly less than what they currently get and a few of the current eastern members will have a new relationship with the eu as members paying in, not out for the first time. Being the the eu shouldn’t just being about gaining the most money as a country can from the older wealthier members, but still, it’s a new type of eu if it truly grows to encompass many of these countries (i personally think Türkiye membership is dead in the water at this point). The EU is totally unrecognizable today compared to what it was at the beginning of the century- whether that is a good thing or not is a loaded question.

Its 2024, 97% of the Albanian population is in favor so I guess we can blame their internal political apparatus for this delay? Bosnia & Herzegovina - they were recognized as a candidate in 2022 so the works begin. My only concern is their Serbian half which seems to march to the beatings of the drums from Belgrade/Moscow thus this needs to be resolved before any accession. Georgia - the people want but their politicians are deeply influenced by Moscow so the Georgian people need to take care of that business first. Ukraine - needs major reforms before joining. Its up to them! Moldova - same as Ukraine. Its up to them! I personally favor a united federal Europe, but based on concrete and implemented reforms by all candidates. Im against a multi-tiered Europe as it would just enable more Orbans and Erdogans to create chaos and disunity!

Türkiye will only Join if they become USA's little dog, which won't happen under the AKP - MHP government. They'll now join BRICS+ & Shanghai Cooperation which has higher GDP then G7 lol, EU will regret their choice
