Now maybe I'm not smart or plugged-in enough, but any such traits I can think of have to do with the coast and proximity of the sea.

It's Britain's class system, his personality is ALWAYS positively spinned only because higher class can't do anything wrong. The same behavior would be intolerated from lower class politician.

The North of England along with Scotland should declare independence from the South.

Gimson has always admitted unswerving loyalty to Johnson - and admits it in his biography. It's really not a surprise.

At about the 9 minute mark, it is said of Disraeli that he was "an adventurer without scruples or morals" - I have no idea if this was true of Disraeli but of Bojo it seems to be very apt indeed

Andrew Gimson strikes me as a completely odious person. The manner he refers to people from Peterborough

Andrew Gimson's description of Boris' likely negotiation strategy when he'll begin talks with the other EU leaders, fails to take into account what the EU is. It's a highly bureaucratic organisation where every word on a page and their precise meaning are important and it needs to be that for it to work with twenty-eight sovereign nation states negotiating a common standard between themselves. Boris loose shoot-from-the-hip approach would be anathema to the EU's and not gain any traction. If the British had a greater understanding of what the organisation they have been part of for decades this separation would have been easier. Instead there were promises of the 'easiest trade deal in history,' how they'd be in Berlin rather than Brussels negotiating and the continued insistence there isn't a need for a backstop if they don't want a border while being outside of the EU customs union, single market and ECJ jurisdiction. Brexit more than anything laid bare this ignorance, especially among the politicans that are supposed to lead you. People who should have known better.

He does seem vague about Peterborough. However, it is in Cambridgeshire, with part being regarded as Lincolnshire for some reason, (and, to confuse matters, it was once in Northamptonshire). But he is possibly basing it on the county. Cambridgeshire does nearly touch the coast. By comparison, West and South Yorks, Derbyshire, Notts, Leics, Staffs, Shrops, Worcs, Warks, Northants, Oxon, Bucks, Beds, Wilts, Berks, in particular wouldn't be regarded as containing 'more or less' coastal towns/cities in county terms.

It’s now dubious if he’s actually been to Peterborough as it’s fairly obvious there’s so sea, so that makes it likely he’s fabricating a story to validate a political point. influencing people’s opinions with ignorance. People have been picking Johnson apart from the beginning of his political career. None of his supporters care though.

They say he did nothing as Mayor of London but he started building social housing again which neither Ken or Blair did!

@@emm_arr its fact. London has never experienced social housebuilding to this magnitude in my adult life. And it was done under a Conservative Mayor and government. FACT!

The real BoJo is just a political maniac and he thought joking was always jokes. Political office is very serious business and they need to be focus on governing rather than aggrandizing a few fools around them. Focus on Country First rather than aggrandizing and in times of trouble . you find them trying to change lanes

He is only one person. Just because he has a different hair style due to a hair cut, he is still the same man. Plus he will be the next PM

So, the defence of Boris Johnson is not knowledge, experience or policy successes but 'fleetness of foot' 'he has failed many times so he'll be able to cope when he fails again' and the unmade bed bonhomie thing. Are you fucking serious? The world has gone completely mad.

Sooner or later we will face a real Crisis - would you really want BJ dealing with it?

@minnie woolf-henderson . I would rather trust him dealing with his little johnson someplace reasonably comfy (padded?) and safe (for others). The real Crisis, as you put it, is BJ getting anywhere near any high responsibility executive position in Government.
