That's true. He's still extremely powerful, and would beat a lot of the villains on the list. But most of the cosmic level enemies like Dormammu, Surtur, and maybe Hela would beat him. Keep in mind though, that's just the MCU. If they took him from the comics, he'd still be one of the most powerful beings in the universe without the stones.

Actually the real problem dc has is that they can't decide which movie tells the origin. Like we get it Batman lost his mom and dad and then bang the Batman was born. And no explanation on what his motivation really is.... Like is it that hes mad that his parents were killed? Is he just against evil in general and he's an anti hero? How did he get over his parents being dead ? Who took care of the business? Was that Alfred? Is Alfred secretly more capable than Batman ?

The MCU has severely depowered Thanos...yeah, he needs the infinity gauntlet to fulfill his agenda, but needs it none at all to defeat any of the avengers...none of his home grown powers were ever on display in the movie, except for his awesome strength. So in the MCU, he's seems to be not much more than a awesomely strong, scarred purple ogre, with some intelligence thrown in.

They started off kinda weak, but besides those two it really hasn't been that bad. Even Whiplash had some kind of emotional connection to the hero. I mean, Loki is a very complex character, Killmonger is understandable in his motivations, the Vulture is relatable and you actually feel bad for him, Zemo has an emotional, and again relatable backstory, and of course Thanos is one of the most complex characters the MCU has ever had.

The argument made by some on this thread that, "You can't count the Infinity Gauntlet" is illogical. If his weapon doesn't count then the suits worn by Ghost, Yellowjacket and Killmonger shouldn't count either. Neither should any power that isn't an intrinsic part of the individual, thus any super serums or modifications shouldn't count.

Kenneth Malone The question is, what gives Thanos more claim to the gauntlet than anyone else? Is Thanos + gauntlet any stronger than anyone else + gauntlet ? So if everyone has equal claim to the gauntlet, and the gauntlet makes any one wielded the “strongest” then it doesn’t make Thanos + gauntlet anything unique does it, he “just happens” to have it. He’s a Titan first and foremost.

thanos without any stones destroyed hulk in a few moves. That same Hulk fought evenly with Ragnarok Thor , and Thor from the same movie was holding his own for a while against Hela even though he couldn't actually beat Hela.

Besides it was a perfect way to demonstrate at the beginning of the movie that "the antagonist is strong enough to take care of himself without the stones" which adds a lot more to his "terror" as a villain

If the others are also stripped of their special toy. The Eternal Flame is like 80% to 90% of the big boss Surtur's power, with it he would kill ego with one big stab like he did to asgard. without it, hela would own him as easily as Thor did in the first part of Ragnarok. Hela also has the best healing factor ever shown in the MCU, as the spear of Odin, a King's weapon, forged by the dwarves, etc, is stabbed into her chest and the wound heals in 2 frames at 24 frames per second. That is a Fatal chest wound, completely healed in 1/12th of one second.

Lets talk about, the top 4. So I think thanos could beat surter with the infinity gauntlet easily. I feel like the only reason hdla lost to zruter, is because the filmmakers decided that the movie was too long and just gave a BS way for hela to die. First Hela where the fuck u goiiiiing. Hela was mov8ng towards surter which allowed him to crush her. But if she moved away. Then i think she couldvs won thT. Anyway thats not important. Because thanos can kill beeq boy surter. Idk how surter wins? I fel like if thanos plays it smart, then he can get the upper hand. It depends how many stones he has tho. No stones = Thanos getting YEETED. Would you be okay with calling him a super wolf? Spider-Man, super spider? My point is, Super human would be better used to describe those HUMANS who are able to display feats no average human can display. Shrey Vaghela against Hulk he didn’t use the stones, and we saw him being physically stronger than either Hulk or Thor, and casually shrugged off a hit from Thor with a metal bar. Also it took all of Spider-Man, iron man, Doctor Strange and Star Lord’s combined physical strength and tech to pull the Gauntlet off of him, whilst he was half asleep. He also tanked the ship nebula crashed into him with like a beast, having not had time to react and use the gauntlet to shield himself . Dudes strong

Dormamu is number 1 cause: 1. he is immortal while thanos is mortal 2. he has infinite power over the dark dimmention and he doesn't need any infinity stones. 3. thanos isn't as smart or wise as dr. strange so he would not be able to defeat him the way strange did I wouldn't agree with that. Maybe Thanos did the right thing and is wiser than all of them. I'm sure he would have done similar things to defeat Dormammu. On top of that, regarding to Marvel Power Grid, the Intelligence of Thanos (Earth 616) is on Super-Genius level, while Stephen Strange (Earth 616) is only 'gifted'.

I pretty sure Thanos didn't became a universal warlord by brute force alone. The guy has analyst and observe many planets for countless of years. Thanos has even build alien technology, and is very creatively and calculated in his plans. Dormammu couldn't put down a inexperienced Dr. Strange with the Time Stone while Thanos out bested a Socerer Supreme Dr. Strange with the Time Stone. Thanos is far more intelligence and wiser than Strange that it isn t even fair comparing. All Thanos have to do is turn the Dark Dimension into a light dimension or evoke time there or even erase Dormammu.

Can you make a remake with yon rogg, mysterio, king Laufey, taserface, fenris wolf, shocker, sonny birch, and maybe even some Netflix villains.

I wouldn't say Thanos is the most powerful villain in the universe. He may have the power, and even the competence to use it. But the infinity stones give him so much more power and versatility to his attacks. However, Iron Man and gang were able to hold off against Thanos, and Mantis even kept him restrained. So what is he WITHOUT the stones? What is his natural power and limits? According to ME, I think Dormammu would be able to stab him just as many times, even less, and kill Thanos, without Infinity stones. Hell, pit him against Surtur - Surtur would not just pierce right through him, but burn all of him as well. And guess what? Even if Thor hadn't aimed for the head, without the infinity stones, he'd have all the time he needs killing Thanos, because half the population wouldn't be at stake, so he could just have another swing at Thanos' head. All of those scenarios would work, had Thanos never gained a single infinity stone. Case closed. ... But sure. Thanos is #1 villain. Whatever. I personally liked Ultron.

Without the stones he would still be stronger than Hulk so he would be top 6 easily. Thor is the only one that stood a chance against him without using stones. Iron man also. MAYBE Strange. But he would squabble everyone else.

Thor IMO is the biggest failure in the MCU, he cant beat any of the main villians. Thnos, Hela, even Loki constantly got the best of him

You go so much stuff wrong. Killmonger didn’t take the heart shaped herb. Proxima midnight wasn’t caught off guard by Scarlett witch and she couldn’t do anything to counter her anyways. There are a few others stuff I can’t remember and I’m not bothered to go back.
