Oh goddamn Tanglor is such a PERFECT MOTU name!!!! What a fact. I loved this figure at release and still feel it's a top 15 of the whole line. I did miss (and on origins) the pulling arm feature (so fun to have one long arm and one short one, but I get it. Always wanted that wrap around staff we never got. Good time

To me, he will always be "Tanglor". That's what he was called in the mini Comic.

Yes, but not on the packaging. You had to know his name was Sssqueeze when you got him and found out his name was Tanglor in the mini-comic when you opened the figure.

@@shawngreenidge3591As a kid, you rarely see a figure in package - only in toy stores, or on your birthday or christmas, right before you tear the box open and throw it away! I got him used - from a friend in Kindergarden. So I got the name from the mini comic that came with another figure (maybe Rattlor). (Also, I couldn't read yet and had to rely on my brother.) ^^

That was an interesting fun fact. Looking back Ssssqueeze is a vintage figure I wish I would have gotten.

Fun fact but not new to me. I learned about Tanglor way back in the 80s. And I didn't have to work at Mattel to learn that 🙃 Aside from this (and your previous predictions about motu's future) I still love and I learn so much from your videos Scott.

I remeber seeing this figure and imagining the good guys pushing him off a cliff but his arms stretch in opposite directions and grab both sides of the cliff preventing him from hitting rock bottom. I remember recreating with two bits of furniture and this figure lol. I saw the new Origins one at ross and had to buy it as well

I have a running joke with his toy and my wife when his arms in the “Angry Wife” pose… you know the fists on the waist from the husband saying and or doing something stupid 😊

The main reason snout, spout trunk failed, is because the factory used the wrong plastic. Squeeze had the same plastic the original had also the same kind used on bendable Action Figures. But snout spout had some sort of really soft rubbery plastic almost like foam rubber. If the factory would have used the same plastic as squeeze. The trunk would not have failed

Cool video! Thank you! As far as I'm concerned, this is one of the best figures in the line. Everything works perfectly, and the amount of detail is amazing. What gets me is how so many people say he doesn't look like a snake. They need to look at an emerald tree boa: usually bright green with silvery/white eyes, a long snout filled with horrific teeth, a highly-domed "forehead" (which is actually made up of powerful jaw muscles), and it's a constrictor.

If I remember correctly the name Tanglor was actually used in the European version (it may be that two names were on the card), I seem to recall that I thought his name was Tanglor. He was one of my favorite late MOTU-figurines (I was getting to old for them by that time) and I don't remember calling him Sssqueeeze.

The problem with snout spout was mainly the material you used on the nose wasn't as sturdy as say what Sssqueeze's arms were made of .I guessing here but I assume when you made old snouty you didn't have access to that stronger material like you did later on for the arms.no big deal your budget only had so much I'm sure compared to later on when you did Sssqueeze.

Squeeze really needed interchangeable arms. I would have loved swappable normal arms.

I love the snake men. But I have one nit pick. It should have come with exchangable arms. So we could altenate between those long arms and say arms similar to Demo Man. Was that ever discussed or in the cards? Or not even thought of due to high tooling costs?

Most probably cost, but it would also probably be difficult to keep the ratcheting shoulders with swappable arms.

There was a great debate on this over at the It'sAllTrue forums, a few years back. The original accessory was called a "pet snake" (quotation marks included) on the back of the vintage figure's card. But it looks too angular to be a biological snake, so the forum members started discussing its possible features, or how they thought of it when they were kids, and the final consensus was: It shoots lasers out of its eyes. Its tongue is a taser, used as a "human-prod" for herding food. Its hooked tail can be used to trip enemies or hook their weapons out of their hands. Its heavy, solid head can be used as a battle-hammer or cudgel for close-quarters combat. When swung at the end of Sssqueeze's fully-extended arms, it has the force of a battering ram. And in a pinch, it can be used as a walking stick in rough terrain, or if Sssqueeze is wounded. And it was dubbed by forum member, dayraven, as "The Ssshhillelagh." It somehow turned into the most awesome "Snake Army Knife" of a weapon ever conceived.
