girls never regret crying for shinee's jonghyun or the members all shawol did and still do on occasion when they hear his voice. Shawols will always be there for babywols who become fans of the the boys.

I'm a Shawol, and I always have mixed feelings for SHINee... Happiness, Joy, Sadness, Tears everything coming at the same time. I miss his music more than ever.. How many masterpieces do we have missed? If he were here, I bet, as a soloist, he would be one of the most respected artists in the k-pop industry. Of course, already Jonghyun and all SHINee members are the most respected in the industry. I'm so thankful to SHINee and SHINee World that they keep continuing. It's not easy at all!

i’ve been shawol since 2012, the emotions I feel when watching SHINee content is complicated. I feel an essence of what I felt when I first watched it, there is happiness and excitement, but there is also sadness and anger, but they are all encompassed by this nearly overwhelming feeling of content, comfort, and respect. They will always be my boys, always my ult group. The members are a lot older than me, but i essentially grew up while they became legends, watching them grow and learn while I also grew was amazing. So watching babywols get as emotional as I do truly shows me that it’s not just about how much of an impact they had on me, but also their talent and true hearts that come through even to new fans.

it doesnt matter how well you know shinee and jonghyun to be able to empathize and feel that loss. it shows that you are a good person and have a good heart.

Taemin's "Under My Skin" song is pretty much about coming to terms with everything that happened to him after Jonghyun passed away in 2017. It's basically about his grieving process and fighting the darker parts of himself with the help of the people he loves, such as his family, the other SHINee members and Shawols. He was now bravely admitting that he has also struggled with a lot of the same mental health issues, etc. And it's super meaningful to fans that this was the song he chose as his lead track, which he released in 2018 because it took a lot for him to be this brave and vulnerable after everything we had all been through. Taemin's Japanese songs, in particular, often have very powerful and deep lyrics, and most of his songs have metaphorical meanings and messages. It's always worth looking up the lyrics to Taemin's songs because you are almost guaranteed that there is a lot more going on with the song than you see on the surface. For example, Taemin is a devout Catholic and you will often see biblical references and imagery in his songs and MVs, and there is almost always a spiritual undertone to everything he does.

About Under my Skin: It came out in 2018 and actually wasn’t the title track so it wasn’t supposed to get a MV. However during the song creating process Taemin reached out to the lyricist and told them what he wants to convey with this song and then also chose it to make an MV for instead of the title track because he said it’s something he has wanted to tell the other members and fans for so long. I don’t know if you’re aware but he has also been battling with depression and panic disorder for a long time and is getting treatment for it, he usually never opened up about it but in recent years he started using his music for things which he struggles to put in words

I think everyone connects to SHINee in their own way...and once you connect with them on a human level you feel them beyond their performances. When certain people make you reflect on yourself, your heart opens and you start to empathize with their moments of joy, their struggles and even identify your own vulnerabilities. Isn't it amazing that a Kpop group thousands of miles away can impact you this way? I never apologize for my tears when I watch Jonghyun. He will always warrant a heartfelt response. Under my skin is one of my favorite Taemin songs. I just love his voice in it and the lyrics are so emotional. SHINee is a group I just fell in love with also. Jonghyun's voice gives me goosebumps, he was amazing, so much talent in that man.

Jonghyun was my bias in Shinee, he will always be. When i first heard the news about what happened to him in 2017, my heart just sank. Primarily because of his voice, he has been an inspiration to how I try to sing. It was a very dark year when that happened in kpop, as he was very beloved and respected by other artists, his seniors and junior artists alike. Whenever i hear Lee HI's "Breathe", i cant help but to tear up. When she did that performance live for him, you could hear the emotion and tears falling. Its already been more than 6 years since its happened, and he is still shining brightly in our hearts and in the industry.

Check out the songs they wrote for him. Good evening, I want you and one other but can't remember the title off hand. It's from their story of light albums. And Check out Taemins monologue song. He wrote that specifically for Jonghyun. Find the one with the English lyrics in KZread there is no mv for it.

Taemin has already surpassed k-pop and created a unique and identifiable art only in him, seeing the number of young idols who are inspired by him - an endless list - really makes us hopeful for the new generations of k-pop 🔷🔷🔷🔷🔷

5HINee is THE LEGEND TAEMIN is THE KING of kings

I really appreciate how whenever SHINee is mentioned by fans or even by people in the industry, it's always as 5. There is always a mic. Always a place open for jjong in whatever they do.

As you may know, Atlantis is a mythical city that is part of a story within Greek mythology, referring to the Lost City of Atlantis. The story of Atlantis is most often depicted as a utopian society on an island that became submerged and lost in the middle of the ocean. SHINee's MV is referencing the lost city of Atlantis, so it's supposed to look like they are visiting Atlantis at the bottom of the sea. The whole MV is a reference to the story of Atlantis, which is why you see them selling seafood and why they are underwater, etc. As I interpret the MV, the convenience store is a cover for the fact that it sits on top of a portal to the city of Atlantis. To the average person, the store just looks like a regular store, but if you are in on the secret you know that if you head to the storage room or basement, etc. you will find a magical elevator/submarine that will take you to "Atlantis." I think that move in the choreography where Key and Minho make the circle is them gathering all their power and love and they are blasting it all to the fans (Shawols) or they are sending all their love to the girl who they are singing about in the song, etc. Like a superhero who is summoning all their powers. Because the SHINee members are sort of supposed to have power as the keepers of the portal to "Atlantis," etc. Plus, if I had to guess, it also might be something linking SHINee to SM's Universe. Most of SM's groups' storylines are connected in some way and they are all part of one big story. For example, I think the soda can we see appear in Key's hand in "Atlantis" is connected to the soda can we see in Key's solo "Hate That ..." MV. (However, I'm not yet sure whether the can magically pops into his hand in "Atlantis" because it is coming from its original location in "Hate That ..." or if it appears in "Hate That ..." because Key brought it from "Atlantis." ) Because Minho writes all his own rap sections in SHINee's songs they are all very meaningful, and are strategically placed in the song for a reason. If you pay attention to his lyrics you will see they have a lot of deep meaning and they enhance the story and add more depth to the song. For example, the long sss sound you hear at the end of his rap lines in "Atlantis" are supposed to mimic the sound of waves as they crash on shore or against the rocks, etc. Minho is actually quite poetic when it comes to his songwriting. You should check out the behind the scenes MV shoot for "Atlantis", kzread.info/dash/bejne/nKJq082MftXVaaQ.html, to really see how detailed everything in the MV was. Fun fact: Although all the aqua blue you see in this MV is supposed to represent water and the city of Atlantis, because SHINee's fan color is pearl aqua, all the aqua blue and green colors you see in the MV also represent SHINee as a group and their connection to their fans. Also, SHINee will forever be a group of 5, so, they always make sure to include Jonghyun, in everything they do. So if you pay attention to the choreography when the members put their arms on each others' shoulders, you see Taemin stretches his arm out as if he is resting it on an invisible person next to him, which is thought to be a nod to the fact that this is where Jonghyun would be, and even in other parts of the choreography they leave a wide gap in the middle, which fans also think was done as a reference to Jonghyun's spot in the group. Jonghyun was almost always the center position with everything SHINee does. Yes, all the members of SHINee have amazing high note abilities. Even Minho, who is the main rapper and has the deepest voice out of all of them, has been known to hit some impressive high notes on occasion. That is what makes SHINee so outstanding and why they are so highly respected in the industry. They are idols' idols and legends of legends for a reason. However, if you are impressed with Onew's high note in "Atlantis," just wait until you hear his cover of the song "Friend" in concert from way back in the early days of SHINee. Onew holds the record for the longest continuous note without changing tone or pitch at 40+ seconds. I'm not even exaggerating. SHINee are known as vocal kings for a reason. "Don't Call Me" and "Atlantis" are SHINee's most recent releases that both came out in 2021. "Atlantis" was the title track on SHINee's Atlantis album, which was their repackaged album as a follow up to their Don't Call Me album. Usually when SHINee's comeback song is a darker, grittier song like "Don't Call Me" this means that their repackaged comeback will be happier and lighter, like you see with "Atlantis." Or if their comeback is a light happy song, than their repackaged song will probably be a darker, moodier song. It's all part of their contemporary, experimental concept and how they are always looking for a new style and sound that won't be lke anything they have ever done in the past.

I love love love Atlantis: the vocals, the concept, choreography. The live performances really bring out the choreo. Their visuals as a group: WOW! Taemin's "Move" and the group's "Don't Call Me" are two others that I like.

SHINee is my ult group and Taemin is my ult of ult of ults. I love all of those boys with my whole heart and their beautiful relationships with each other Under My Skin is one of my favorite Taemin songs. The first time I heard it, I resonated with it so much. But then I read the lyrics and it REALLY hit. As someone who has struggled with anxiety and depression (and surprise bipolar diagnosis a couple years ago in my 30s) it struck a chord in me like no other Kpop song has done. I’m so glad you’re enjoying SHINee! I’m not sure what you’ve covered but some of my faves with MVs are View, Good Evening (the first video released after Jonghyun’s passing, which adds a layer of depth if you know that going in), Can I Get Your Number (dance version-black) Everybody MV and/or their SHINee World IV performance (some of my favorite choreo ever) and Dream Girl. And for something grittier, Tell Me What To Do. Ugh, there’s so many because: 14 years of discography! Also, I don’t know if you’ve seen Key’s Bad Love or Gasoline, as well as Onew’s Dice, but those are all solo must watches. Heartbreak for Minho too, and he’s supposed to drop his first full solo album soon. Sorry I keep editing this, but I wanted to throw in a couple more gorgeous Taemin ballads. There are many favourite songs but if u ever listen to them individually Selene 6.23 is a favourite of mine.... Onew is pronounced Oh-New in English or On-New if you say it with a proper Korean accent.

Free your pronouncing of Onews name is correct. He is not classically trained which says much on how he can turn his voice to any genre. With regards the song rainy blue where you see he cried it's because he'd had vocal surgery and has to refrain his voice when he was given the all clear. He cried because he was thankful that it went well and he could return to singing. ( there was a chance that he'd never sing again had his surgery failed. Thankfully that wasn't the case.)
