    Dissapointed and saddened that the first few episodes have not mentioned the first monotheistic God, Ahura Mazda from the Zoroastrian religion. In academic circles, Zoroaster (the pre-Islamic prophet of the Persian empire) is believed to have given the world the concept of Ahura Mazda, the All-knowing Lord, and Zoroastrianism has profoundly influenced Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

    This Imam if he had a little bit of knowledge could just have translated some of the Ayat (verses) in the quran where God explains to us who He is God says (what translated means) "In the name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate. Say (O Muhammad) He is God the One God, the Everlasting Refuge, who has not begotten, nor has been begotten, and equal to Him is not anyone." (112:1-4) "He is God; there is no god but He, He is the Knower of the unseen and the visible; He is the All-Merciful, the All-Compassionate. He is God, there is no God but He. He is the King, the All-Holy, the All-Peace, the Guardian of Faith, the All-Preserver, the All-Mighty, the All-Compeller, the All-Sublime. Glory be to God, above that they associate! He is God the Creator, the Maker, the Shaper. To Him belong the Names Most Beautiful. All that is in the heavens and the earth magnifies Him; He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise." (59:22-24) "There is no god but He, the Living, the Everlasting. Slumber seizes Him not, neither sleep; to Him belongs all that is in the heavens and the earth. Who is there that shall intercede with Him save by His leave? He knows what lies before them and what is after them, and they comprehend not anything of His knowledge save such as He wills. His throne comprises the heavens and earth; the preserving of them oppresses Him not; He is the All-High, the All-Glorious." (2:255) "People of the Book, go not beyond the bounds in your religion, and say not as to God but the truth. The Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, was only the Messenger of God, and His Word that He committed to Mary, and a Spirit from Him. So believe in God and His Messengers, and say not, 'Three.' Refrain; better is it for you. God is only one God. Glory be to Him - (He is) above having a son." (4:171) "God has not taken to Himself any son, nor is there any god with Him: For then each god would have taken of that which he created and some of them would have risen up over others." (23:91) And Why, were there gods in earth and heaven other than God, they (heaven and earth) would surely go to ruin." (21:22) "God is the Creator of everything. He is the guardian over everything. Unto Him belong the keys of the heavens and the earth." (39:62, 63) "No creature is there crawling on the earth, but its provision rests on God. He knows its lodging place and it repository." (11:6) The Quran reminds us of the falsity of all alleged gods. To the worshippers of man-made objects, it asks: "Do you worship what you have carved yourself?" (37:95) "Or have you taken unto you others beside Him to be your protectors, even such as have no power either for good or for harm to themselves?" (13:16) To the worshippers of heavenly bodies it cites the story of Abraham: "When night outspread over him he saw a star and said, 'This is my Lord.' But when it set he said, 'I love not the setters.' When he saw the moon rising, he said, 'This is my Lord.' But when it set he said, 'If my Lord does not guide me I shall surely be of the people gone astray.' When he saw the sun rising, he said, 'This is my Lord; this is greater.' But when it set he said, 'O my people, surely I quit that which you associate, I have turned my face to Him Who originated the heavens and the earth; a man of pure faith, I am not of the idolaters.'" (6:76-79) In order to be a Muslim, i.e., to surrender oneself to God, it is necessary to believe in the oneness of God, in the sense of His being the only Creator, Preserver, Nourisher, etc. But this belief - later on called "Tawhid Ar-Rububiyyah" - is not enough. Many of the idolaters knew and believed that only the Supreme God could do all this, but that was not enough to make them Muslims. To tawhid ar-rububiyyah one must add tawhid al'uluhiyyah, i.e., one acknowledges the fact that is God alone Who deserves to be worshipped, and thus abstains from worshipping any other thing or being. Having achieved this knowledge of the one true God, man should constantly have faith in Him, and should allow nothing to induce him to deny truth. When faith enters a person's heart, it causes certain mental states which result in certain actions. Taken together these mental states and actions are the proof for the true faith. The Prophet said, "Faith is that which resides firmly in the heart and which is proved by deeds." Foremost among those mental states is the feeling of gratitude towards God which could be said to be the essence of 'ibada' (worship). The feeling of gratitude is so important that a non-believer is called 'kafir' which means 'one who denies a truth' and also 'one who is ungrateful.' A believer loves, and is grateful to God for the bounties He bestowed upon him, but being aware of the fact that his good deeds, whether mental or physical, are far from being commensurate with Divine favors, he is always anxious lest God should punish him, here or in the Hereafter. He, therefore, fears Him, surrenders himself to Him and serves Him with great humility. One cannot be in such a mental state without being almost all the time mindful of God. Remembering God is thus the life force of faith, without which it fades and withers away.

    +dexter morgan its a bit of a boggle though. As human beings we hae trouble comprehending infinity. The same question you pose about stars and who created them might be posed about God and his/it's beginnings. Who created the creator and who created the creator's creator? It's a never ending list of questions. Because our understanding of beginnings and ends makes it impossible to comprehend something having always existed. Only way I can wrap my head around it even somewhat is the concept of time being the fourth dimension. As 3 dimensional beings we comprehend time as linear as opposed to a stagnate dimension that can be traversed in any direction. Bottom line. It requires a lot of faith to accept that the buck stops with the creator. The natural tendency is to continue looking further back to a new beginning with each creation including the "creator" And all of these things make my head hurt.

  • @Mastermindyoung14

    @Mastermindyoung14

    Sean Kearney There's no reason to add an extraneous god hypothesis to the universes' origins. That's an infinite regression we might not need to try to wrap our heads around. What happened "before" the big bang could very well be a malformed question. It's like asking what's north of the north pole, there is no north of the north pole, and there may be no "before" the point when time began. So to ask who or what created everything is to ascribe a temporal value to something that has none. So just leave it out of the hypothesis due to lack of elegance. I hope that makes sense.

All the characteristics they have mentioned implies that they are referring to a person yet they are denying Gods personality by saying God is an energy without a form etc. How is it that the source is less than his creation?

    Keep hearing about the "who" and the "where" god is. Strange nobody ever seems to ask "what" god is. Yeah, one of them said god is the creator of all. Big deal. Thats an action defining a capability. Its not a "what" beyond that title of action. I'm talking "what IS god?" What is god composed of? What makes god what it is? This question seems to get missed or purposefully ignored a lot. "The beginning and the end of everything". "In charge". "Connected to all of us." The beginning and the end of what? And how is it the beginning and end of all? How is it in charge? Connected to all? Okay, but how and where do we begin and where does god end in relation to all of that? These typical questions and answers regarding what god is seem disconnected and whimsical. There's no real logic behind how anything works beyond the initial claim or the claim backing up the claim. I'm not asking for evidence here, just a more solid logic than I think we're being presented. And I'm ranting because these are the kinds of things I hear all the time from those being asked the question of the "Who" or "What" or "Where" is god thing. The explanation just doesn't go anywhere beyond broken logic explanations. Whoa whoa whoa whoa! God doesn't have actual hands so we have hands to do gods work in the world? Oh, there are so many things wrong, including dangerous concepts created, from that kind of thinking. First of all, if god is the all creator, it either has hands or could have hands. So us needing to do its work is ludicrous in and of itself. Secondly, and this is the fundamental danger to typical god beliefs: Nobody that believes in god actually is god. I'm also pretty sure 99.5% of people that believe in god say they do out of faith. They cannot back things up with anything empirical to confirm its existence in the way they say it is. They cannot confirm their god is the real and true god. So its a faith thing. And I'm not saying any of these people in this video are on a power trip. What I'm saying is that anyone that decides to go on a power trip of some kind, and there are quite a few of them, can do so with ease because they believe they're doing "god's work." When you believe in a "higher power" with that reasoning, you can easily dismiss your own role and responsibility in it. Because, think about it, god is the absolute right. And as long as you're doing its work, then it doesn't matter what you do or how you do it. Its all correct because its from god through you. Unlike people like Bill Maher, whom I do like for the most part but don't agree with everything he says, I don't think that everything evil comes from believing in god. What I think is that most evil things in the world have come from people believing they're doing god's work. I'm not even saying god isn't real. God may have made us in its image. However, people believe in god in their image. Through that reversal, people can justify anything they do as being correct as long as it was from their god. Thats why god beliefs are usually dangerous either from an oppressive point of view or a self deprecating point of view. "God is found in the effort to help out someone in need." Yeah... as long as you see those in need as worthy of it in god's eyes. Its also been found in the subjugation and oppression of others. Yeah, yeah, it doesn't happen nearly as much or as badly today as in most parts of the world, but it still happens more than enough and it definitely happened much more the further back in history you go. Here's the thing. A lot of people like to say that god is love nowadays. Bull. God is power, plain and simple. No matter how you spin it, its a power thing. God is that thing above and beyond in all manner of things, at least in how its typically viewed. As long as its seen that way, god is about power and even power based on love can be twisted into something dark, destructive, and oppressive. Love and helping others isn't always harmless and, unfortunately, if people aren't told specifically how to look at something like its a well fine print contract, they're liable to use the opportunity when it suits them to twist things around to define it for their selfish needs. I'm not saying that the message of finding god in helping others isn't something to aspire to. I'm saying that its not a strong logic to tell someone why its better to find god in this way as opposed to the millions of other ways to do it that are shown to be destructive and considered what most would call immoral and unethical. Why can't we understand the divine? Why are we so determined to believe it is so beyond us? This is especially something true to question if we believe god could be connected to us at all, which it would have had to have been in order to make us, right? How could something make us and everything else yet be separate from its creation? Again, going back to the centrally missed question of what god is, not just what it does and what its titles are. "Bigger than anything we could hope to describe" "Large and in charge" Like I said. Power and a hierarchy. Is it any question why humanity has spent so much time trying to dominate each other? We subtely value it as a precious commodity by associating it with the ultimate right and not even realizing it. Sure, most try to say they're "below" god, but not by much. I mean, okay, scratch that. Humanity is usually seen by most as being a lot lower than god. However, its usually seen as being above everything else on this planet. So its pretty easy for us to reason why certain groups of people should be treated as less, not to mention animals and the earth itself. God is a power trip. Thats why its dangerous. Even love is dangerous as a power. Whether god exists or not is irrelevant. As long as it is seen as a higher power to believers, its dangerous for the world as it always has been. Yes, plenty of good has come from certain religious beliefs, principles, etc. However, the makings and maintaining of those beliefs aren't necessary to create the good stuff. That was just one avenue and without them, other ways could be found that don't include the same risk of damage that higher powers have brought.

It's like people need to see their god, people who ware the cross or carry rosey beads, those physical things are their god! My God cometh not but to steal and to kill and to destroy. God come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly. If God is telling us all that He plans to give us life from everlasting to everlasting that should be good enough for us to live this life instead of searching for who God is. If people would only open their hearts and minds and build a relationship whereas they are walking with God, He will reveal many things to us about Himself.

    If God is speaking to us then why it appears all religions telling very different contradictory things. Perhaps, these glaring discrepancies can be explained if we examine the fact that our relationship with God seems to be precisely shaped by the culture in which we are raised and a predominant version of God we were taught to believe in. If you were raised on Christian family, your God is Yahweh. If you were raised in Hindu family, your God is Brahma, etc. It is undeniable that RELIGIONS obey borders while TRUTH does not. TRUTH is unquestionable, uncorrupted, remains constant/unchangeable and remains a truth whatever it takes. TRUTH no need to debate or defend because it has one answer regardless of language or culture you belong. In America God is Yahweh while in India God is Brahma. Truth does not behave this way. In America 2+2=4, and in India 2+2 also equals 4. If God's message to us was so dire, so vitally important, then why He didn't gave it to us in clear and precise way so all would be in agreement, as evident as simple math problem in which there's a universal agreement rather than trusting His precious message to be spread by fallible corruptible human beings. Why would Almighty God allowed the continuation of such widespread falsehoods in His name which would be effortless for Him to correct, or never even need to correct on the first place because a perfect being would got it right from the very beginning.
