Salim Moussa Achi was born in Jerusalem, Mutasarrifate of Jerusalem on June 1, 1909, to Assyrian Christian parents Moussa Elias Achi and Shmouneh Hanna Achi (née Hannouch)[1]. Shortly after his birth the family moved to Beirut, Lebanon.[2] He was a Lebanese humanist, author, philosopher, and purported worker of miracles.[3] By the age of 21, he had adopted the name Dahesh, Arabic for "inspiring wonder". Dr. Dahesh established Daheshism as a religion in 1942. The spiritual message of Daheshism can be summarized in a belief in the existence and immortality of the spirit, reincarnation, the unity of religions and the spiritual causality and just reward (karma). His publishing career included essays, poetry, short stories, novels, and an autobiography, and exceeded 150 works.[4] Dahesh was imprisoned on September 9, 1944[5] and later on stripped of his Lebanese nationality and exiled from Lebanon in 1944 during the reign of Lebanese President Bechara El Khoury. @@julirensch Her exploration of Doctor Dahesh is sophomoric. Her facts are mostly wrong. Even the picture that is allegedly of his father an mother is actually of Doctor Dahesh and his sister Antoinette. Promoting that video by Dima Tannir is tanatamount to besmirching Dahesh's memory.

@@MarioHenriChakkour سلام لك اخي الكريم. ساخبرك قصة حصلت مع جدي وهو اخبرني إياها. جدي يشتغل في الدهان و حصلت له الفرصة ان يذهب ليدهن بيت الدكتور داهش هو والعمال تبعه. فقال لهم الدكتور داهش: انا ذاهب و اي شي تريدوه قولو لهذه الامراة الموجودة في الصورة امامكم. بعد الشغل الطويل إستراحوا، فبدأوا ينكتون و يقولون: شو رأيكم نطلب من هذه الصورة ان تعد لنا القهوة. وطبعاً كانو يقولوها باستخفاف. وبالفعل طلبوا هذا الطلب من الصورة فخرجت الامراة من الصورة لتحضر لهم القهوة. وهنا دب الرعب في قلوبهم و فروا هاربين.

@@MarioHenriChakkour المسيح حذرنا انه سياتي اناس و يفعلون معجزات وعجائب. وقد حذرنا المسيح ان لا نتبعهم. وقال لنا: ها انا سبق و اخبرتكم. فإن كان لم يأتي الدكتور داهش و امثاله فيكون المسيح كاذباً. الدكتور داهش يستخدم قوة شيطانية لاجتراح المعجزات. وساعطيك الدليل من عائلة لبنانية. من اب وام وإبنهم. عندما ضرب صيت الدكتور داهش، ذهبت عائلة لبنانية مسيحية إليه لعلهم يؤمنون به إذا صنع لهم اعجوبة. فقال لهم الدكتور داهش: خذوا كل واحد ورقة وإكتبوا بها ما تبغونه وانا سأقول ما كتبتم. فكتب الاب جملةً، وبالفعل عرف الدكتور داهش تلك الجملة. وكذلك الام كتبت جملة و بالفعل عرفها. فندهشو اندهاشا شديدا. اما عن إبنهم ، فقد كتب الجملة القائلة: المسيح إلهي. والدكتور داهش للاسف الشديد لم يعرفها، لعل القوة الشيطانية التي في داخله لم تعطه تلك الجملة. وتلك القصة موثوقة، من عائلة .

@@MarioHenriChakkour انا ابن زقاق البلاط و اخي الكبير عايش فترته و الوالد و الاقرباء و جيراننا عايشوا الفترة التي ادعى فيها النبوة كلهم قالوا انه كان يستعمل اساليب الالعاب الخفية التي يستعملها السحرة في السيرك في تلك الايام كانت الناس بسيطة تصدق اي شيئ انا بالناسبة لما تفضلت به انت و اناس اخؤين على انه ممكن ان يكون نبي او ملهم انا سأعطي رأي الشخصي لو كان فعلا صاحب قدرات خارقة لماذا لام يسيطر على لبنا او يصبح رئيس ل لبنان او العالم من يملك فدرات خارقة مثل التي يقال انه يملكها لحكم العالم و غيره

@@truthful9762 First, I hope you don’t mind, in the of interest clear communication, I must express myself in English because (a) I don’t have an Arabic keyboard, and (b) my Arabic is rather rusty. Alright, to your first point: you have a God-given right to formulate your opinions based on whatever criteria you deem fit. The bottom line is, however, that you, yourself have never met him. Am I correct? I, on the other hand, knew him for years. He would even stay with me in New York City for weeks on-end. So, my opinion-unlike yours-is based on first-hand experience. Second, you bring up an excellent point: if he had all these powers, why didn’t he do this, or why didn’t he do that? etc. Before I share with you my point of view, let me first say that most of the stories you hear in this video clip are myths. In other words, they never happened. For example, that barbershop story is pure fabrication, the result of years of malicious attempts by the Bechara El Khoury regime to sully Dahesh’s reputation. So you know, Dahesh was jailed, tortured, and exiled from Lebanon without ever being given the opportunity to defend himself in a courtroom. In addition, his Lebanese Citizenship was illegally revoked as well. The plan was to dump him, without identification, in the middle of the night, in Turkish territory, while WWII was still going on. Now, the story of how he was able to return to Lebanon and hide in the Hneine Palace for well over a decade until President Camille Chamoun restored his nationality is in the section called “Innocent in Chains, The Notes” (You can find it on Daheshville.com). And before you say, “I don’t care” just remember that you never met him, and I have. And, unlike the people you describe as simpletons, I am an MIT graduate. They don’t let idiots into MIT. I am not showing off, I am simply trying to appeal to your sense of fairness and humanity: In other words, you need to consider the possibility that everything your family thought they knew about him was wrong. Now to your excellent question: First of all, Dahesh never claimed to have powers. He was a human being like you and me, with the exception that there were times Miracles would occur in his presence. He was the vehicle. That’s it. Himself, he had no powers. He, like every other human being, had to earn his daily bread. How about this… Why didn’t Jesus Christ become the ruler of Rome? Why didn’t Moses simply convince the Pharaoh to let the Israelites free? I mean, think about it. Moses performed amazing Miracles. Why didn’t he just snap his fingers and teleport the Israelites out of Egypt and into the promised land? The reason is this: The mission of any prophet is to help light the spark of faith in the heart of those who have none, or those who have lost it. Not even God forces us to have faith. And God can do anything. Yet, He gives us the choice to love or reject Him. His prophets are mere ambassadors. They, themselves, can’t do what God Himself will not do. In any case, we disagree. I tried to change your mind by sharing my experience. @@truthful9762 BTW, I lived across from the Phoenicia and Holiday Inn Hotels. The first RPG that ushered the "Battle of the Hotels" exploded a few meters away from me (it missed the big opening that gave onto the balcony facing London Street, which is off Phoenicia St. So, I'm "ابن المنطقة" also. I grew up visiting Doctor Dahesh, unlike your family and older siblings. And so, I beg to differ with them. As to your argument that people back then were naive and simpleminded... I guess you're right. Many of them believed the junk featured in that video. If the producer truly wanted to be fair, he/she would have posted the WHOLE show (almost two-hours' worth, I believe). Instead, he/she opted for sensationalism, turning the matter of Daheshim into a circus freak show, instead of the complex, rich, and glorious tradition that it truly is. I am sure that wasn't their intent because anyone who watched the full show would agree they treated the subject fairly. Then again, that's entertainment, right?!
