My name is Ayo Ada Ogolo and would like to introduce myself as the eldest member of the Kuya/Ogolo clan. What needs to be corrected is that aunty Dorothy, even though she wasn’t ‘visibly active’ in Liverpool when she lived in London. She still had her home in Jermyn Street. As family members including myself and friends would often visit. For future reference I would appreciate it if you would contact myself, as the eldest family member who lived with her aunt for a considerable number of years at Jermyn Street, and rather than making assumptions.

Hi, thanks for your comment. It can be difficult to compress the life of an inspirational figure such as Dorothy into a short video. While some details may be omitted, we hope that we’ve been able to provide an informative overview of some of Dorothy’s key achievements. We can assure you that this video - like all our digital content - was produced following research and with the input of both historians and representatives from Dorothy’s family. It would be wonderful to connect with you further, so do please feel free to get in touch at www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/about/contact-us An upcoming event in Liverpool hosted by Writing on The Wall will explore more of Dorothy’s life in further detail which you may be interested in getting involved in. I am sure with your personal connection to Dorothy, your contribution would be most valued. You can find information on that here: writingonthewall.org.uk/myevents/dorothy-kuya-archiveproject/

Thank you for responding to my message You appear though, to have totally missed the point that I was making, and in relation to the assumption that Dot was absent from Liverpool during the time specified in London. Aunty Dorothy, and to clarify had homes in London, and Liverpool. Her capacity to multitask and commute to and from these places, gave credence to her brilliance in being able to juggle both cities, and not just one. This theme of only returning to Liverpool from London after her retirement, has been annoyingly regurgitated in a lot of the facebook posts, and appearing to come from just one source. Then picked up from other interested parties, to then be followed without question or enquiry? And unfortunately being a historian, doesn’t give you the authority on personal experiences, or ‘all’ family time line inclusions. There are also no credits in the clip, which makes for further convolute discourse here, why is that? Regarding the invite to be part of this exploration, that is kind of you. I have sent you my personal details via letter and look forward to hearing from you in the near future? That’s strange! I also recall speaking to the archivist from WOW over at the Liverpool library, earlier on this year. This person only mentioned that they had looked at Dot’s archive. And once I had introduced myself as a family member to them. They did however mention another important activist, that they were in the middle of archiving. Thank you once again for responding to my post, and look forward to you contacting me. Ayo Ada Ogolo
