If I remember correctly I mostly used the 3 Male MCs, Koromaru, Kanji and Makoto.. Sometimes I replaced P4MC with either FEMMC, Akechi or Mitsuru throughout the story.. Poor Yusuke, but I guess Atlus overcompensated by making him very good in P5 Tactica..😅

I think its much harder to rank persona characters in Q2 and with that said FEMC is too criminally low and P3 MC is too high imo. Akihiko is also arguably the best character cause of his unique skill that's just junpei's old skill but it also depends on team comp. Yukiko, Yukari and Makoto (who is also amazing in the second labyrinth) all make broken linkers as well like FEMC and linkers don't want max or top speed stats otherwise the teardropper could not do their debuffing job so for linkers low speed is better. Yosuke is one of the most reliable at this for his excellent speed stats and has a cheaper version of death chaser. Yukiko and Yukari with the swap mag attack accessories can out damage Kanji's linking capabilities and with a move like dragon cry low speed can be offset with relative ease. Depends on how you wanna play i guess though but the only issue i have with FEMC is when she gets her link skills during level up as well as some other skills she learns which some of this can be offset through the card system to speed things up. Yusuke and fragile characters would still be good if Q2 kept the Q1 system where backline units take less damage. I really feel Q2 did some characters dirty compared to Q1 but Q2's gameplay is much more fun since it has the P5 elements which i like a lot although baton passes are lame in Q2 imo. Now i know i am speaking from a linker perspective and linking isn't the only way to play or beat the game. I agree with almost everything on the list outside of this stuff. Also Goro feels like a necessity at all times due to his easy binds, amazing support skills and amazing stats. A lot of my bosses get down to Goro and one or 2 others soloing the rest of the boss's hp so while i get what you are saying with ken i find that usually there won't be room on the team for him unless you don't use a character like Yu Since joker's crit buff is important and Goro is just probably the best support in the game leaving room for only 3 other members and for a linking team you want your fastest character on teardrop duty, your linker, and your healer which while i said P3 mc is overrated he makes a great healer since he usually goes last meaning he can heal any damage you accumulated in the turn and can also make a great linker like FEMC although i prefer FEMC between the 2 for linking . I play on risky mode as i find it much more fun playing most games on highest difficulty. Linking is why i think its also hard to properly rate characters outside of the ones you would call "trash tier". If you want to put time into it you can make a good portion of midtiers high to top tier with linking alone and even without linking everyone can use 1 alternate persona outside their main one which can learn a large portion of skills from fused personas so even some of the worst can be fixed if its something as simple as the skills they learn on the main being a problem. So what's your favorite strategy in these Etrian Odyssey styled spinoffs?

Linkers in q2 did get a nerf, they are still pretty powerful but i feel in this game your not depending on linking as much as the previous game so when it comes to team building your not always gonna use it all the time but most of the time like dungeon crawls and bosses but not the velvet rangers one where they demand a lot of AOE attacks which links don't really do. I did use FEMC as a Linker, unlike q1 they added in additional skills that still make her the best like her skill set, other then her and ken any other linker option has to put in some heavy lifting to get into that role due to how good the link passives so FEMC still stands on top at best linker because her sub persona enables so much customisation, even going as far as being able to have all elemental links at once. Goro i feel while he does have a good skill they made sure he wasn't OP as the likelihood of it working is pretty low compared to other options like Yukiko and Mitsuru due to the chance of the skill working compared to salmone's kiss and actually having low luck, outside of the velvet rangers it's not that impressive and salmone's kiss might be better in most other situations. Akihiko is really good however I think it's between him or Yu has best damage dealer, it's very close and could be personal preference however there is a passive that anyone even yu can learn that does the same effect as junpei's old skill but unlike aki's buff it's a % chance this means aki has more damage potential however he is a bit more frail so he may not be appealing then Yu who has some considerable amount of bulk

I would love to see who's best at what since Etrian style games are good-bad classes + team combos but if i remember the characters just start blending into each other. The tier list would be who works well going through the game, even if this game is sub-persona Q and in persona fashion phys > Mag. Links are just Overkill.

I did my own tier list for the game a while ago, as I watched the vid there were some positions that I agreed and disagreed which I can elaborate below: God: Close to being OP and can incredibly be useful in a lot of scenarios. FEMC: has the full linker kit on her base giving her lots of customisation options even being a secondary fast healer on top of her linking thanks to her speed which go hand in hand with her roles. Mitsuru: basically the closest thing in this game as Q1's Naoto, her passive basically increases the damage if she is exploiting a weakness and this can go beyond magical attacks so pretty much any elemental skill in the game allowing her to rework her setup depending on the situation and there wouldn't be a drop off in quality. she can also be a decent healer. She is also the game's best binder which is what made q1 Naoto good as she naturally comes with bind arts + and salmone's kiss, paired with her high luck it's pretty reliable in shutting down enemies/bosses. Joker: has the niche crit buff and has the best upgraded persona, he is at the bottom of the tier because of his initial being frail with 2 weaknesses you want to be careful with, so you got to play it smart with patching them up in the meantime before getting satanael. Top: The Meat default that’s recommended, not broken by any means but very solid. Most of them fill in similar roles so it’s a mere preference if one appeals more to you. Yu: one of the best reliable damage dealers, has solid all-around stats and can hit hard but surprisingly has some decent bulk. Aigis: kind of like Yu in being an all-rounder but leans into being a tank, I do have her as the best because of her flexibility in both bosses and dungeons but don’t be surprised in needing more of a dedicated tank. Kanji: basically, the dedicated tank, his passive is a cheap all-guard and you can pair it with a sp regen skill for it to be used endlessly, with the tanks you can stack them with absorbs and resist element passives making them incredibly tough to kill Haru: another tank but I’ve recently been told her passive stacks with the normal passive that does the same thing which stacked makes it so that it always works. Like with kanji if you stack with a bunch of absorbs and resists, she becomes hard to kill. Yukiko: I noticed you ranked her low but don’t underestimate her, she excels well at doing 2 things and doing it well. She is basically Mitsuru but more of a dedicated healer role instead with high luck and has salmone’s kiss gained naturally, she just needs bind arts+ and she is set, her healing is solid but she exclusively comes with mamatudi which cures all binds on the party unlike matudi which everyone can use and that isn’t even her perf which is just extra evasion which is fine for her, only issue could be her speed but if paired with a reliable tank it won’t be as big an issue Akihiko: the dedicated glass canon, his physical damage could be the highest with his buff which enables 100% innates a second usage of the skill so after a Hassou Tobi you then have another Hassou Tobi for extra damage for free. Compared to yu he is however frail and there is a passive that does a similar effect as the buff with chance of it working, I think the survivability is probably preferred as there are a lot of buffs and debuffs to set up for that high damage ceiling. High: Akechi: the third binder character, he does come with a fancy perf bind which has a med chance to target all enemies in a row the problem is the low luck stat making it less reliable in actually working compared to Yukiko and Mitsuru. In later stages he can fill in the healer role since his offense does drop off quite a bit but his placement here is his availability which most of the tier depends on Ryuji and Ann: Gonna pair these two together since they can be summarised as being solid characters for the 1st dungeon, after that you have better options. With availability being more of a selling point in this game then in q1 that’s enough to put them this high. Naoto: Naoto is the 2nd best mage; her kit was built with the intent on using two elements with bless and curse allowing her sub to learn whatever element making her very viable on using whatever element you need in the situation. She is however a late bloomer as it requires a bit of investing, so she is a good pick for the growth item you get after defeating a boss, but I recommend saving it till the late game where she learns her last skill. She is really good for the velvet fight, her null light/dark on her upgrade persona makes the Elizabeth phase less painful and she is probably the most competent at handling almighty which can come in handy as the velvet attendants love switching their resistances that it becomes hard to use anything other than Phys or almighty. P3MC: I think he is overrated; the game does force you to use him in a side quest hence the placement but other than that he is a case of “cool on paper but poor in practice”. His stats aren’t presented as mage he actually has more strength than magic on max level, he basically uses his perf passive to give out high magic damage. Now the passive has a bunch of problems which I think pale towards Mitsuru’s for starters it does not effect bless and curse or even almighty damage and most of the bosses after he joins are weak to it including the next boss after his recruitment making the perf useless in those scenarios. He is very linear in focusing on one singular element on high damage and doesn’t have much else to offer like binding, notable good healing, or anything else that he kind of ends up feeling like deadweight and unlike Mitsuru’s perf it only effects magic so he will burn up very quickly if you’re not careful. Mid: Mainly filler, none of these characters are bad but they don’t stand out in ways that make them a must use or the game doesn’t force you to use them at all. They can be used if they are like your favourite character and you won’t have a major downgrade, I won’t judge. Morgana: he is a better character to sub in Favor of Yusuke but by the time the femc comes in, you then realise the dungeon primarily demands light, Elec and fire quite a bit so he may end up getting the boot right after, he does have media and you can give him a sub to have one of those 3 elements but because akechi, Ann and femc are decent enough for heals morgana could be seen as desperate Makoto: she joins after the first boss and you could take advantage of her starting level but she doesn’t have much else, she is built to be a linker/healer where she uses her perf buff to act first and then have her heal or set up links first before anyone else, it’s ok for what it is but the lack of innate link passives makes her dependant on her sub having them to really see her shine. She joins after femc, so it does somewhat get overshadowed especially if femc is built to heal and link which leaves little for Makoto to offer. Chie: she is also a linker, but her main preference is the damage dealer role as femc is just way too good for it. Because of her sex you can see some niches here for her on the equipment compared to Yu and Aki though I think Yu who joins at the same time does exceed a bit higher then her and even Aki in terms of offense when he joins, she does always have the added bonus before re-entering the dungeon but that’s about it with her. Ken: same as the prior two, slightly redundant to femc but unlike the other 2 his kit comes much closer to the linker role innately though he does lag just a bit compared to femc, he does have better stats though I think the better skillset allows more team synergy to pitch in other roles. Yukari: she is innately the best at healing BUT healing hands is not an exclusive in fact the passive Idol hands has even higher healing percentage by comparison and anyone can get it. Other then that she doesn’t excel in much else other than healing and magic offense which she is nowhere near the likes of the mages above. Low: Yosuke: when he joins, he doesn’t excel in much of anything. High damage? Yu and Chie Binds? Akechi and Yukiko. His perf is also kind of weird where he within 3 turns he does a follow up attack which isn’t that amazing as it seems where it’s just another normal attack. Shinji: he actually has an interesting perf with a enabled splash effect which can be cool for links but there is nothing in which he could strongly be dedicated to right away like tanking, linking or damage but doesn’t have much in the way of skills in his kit that makes him stand out right away and the late join time also hurts him as you probably have a team that covers the roles but is more dedicated to said role. Junpei: similar to Shinji however due to joining later it sparks competition and he doesn’t come out alive as Yu is already around and then Aki joins at the same time, Chie joins before him and even has the same perf skill. shit tier: Yusuke: he is the only one forced in this tier hence he is at the top and he does suck, however we all end up technically using him weather we like it or not. Koro: the weakest of all the characters who make any attempt of being a linker due to his perf basically being obsolete with Navi passives such as a sp regen that does the exact same thing rest of his kit is linker/mage and like with Makoto and Chie he doesn’t get a step up on the linker role. Teddie: basically, Yusuke if you weren’t forced to use him and you can just avoid his existence in the roster. For the Navis I would go Futaba > Rise > Fuuka, with Futaba for battle with her free skill buffs and shield and Rise has some passive healing when exploring dungeons which can extend the longevity of exploring them, they just nerfed fuuka’s healing she isn’t as good as she was in q1

I agree, I feel like him and Ann and should be pushed to mid tier at least, good for the first are of the game and then after that you just end up switching them over for the p4 cast which most of those are pretty solid except yosuke and teddie. Ken is weird, he is very similar to FEMC though i feel like because contributes more in the game with earlier join time along with having a better kit by having the full link skillset makes her better to work with (due to not being dependant on the sub and has a lot more customisation) as her sub can solely have her access to all of the elemental links in the game at once, ken is far from bad but i think femc overshadows him in most areas except maybe stats

I think it should be mentioned that party member skills are NOT the only skills they can get. You can use skill cards to give all party members new skills on their primary persona. So you can give All-Guard to Aigis and argubly make her a better tank than Kanji because Runic Shield is exclusive to subs and has a low chance to null row. While Aegis Shield on awakening has a high chance to self. But the downside of self doesn't matter when you can get All-Guard on Aigis. Aigis also has a better stat total than Kanji, only losing in Strength by 5 points and HP by about 80. Also FEMC can turn into a giant Fire-Link nuke with all the Fire and Link Boosters + Challenger Arts + First Star and then the item that switches her high magic stat for Strength since the links are HP-based. TDLR: Party member skills in Q2 on their primary persona can be changed and therefore, the only things that matter on a party member are stats, exclusive skills, and affinity.

i personally found that like other persona games, physical is better than magic. there was almost no reason to have damage-dealing moves that costed mp because of how little mp each team member has as well as how high mp costs are i would've used akihiko but personally found that yu got a lot of really good lategame skills. ranjinzan for physical electric damage, maziodyne for wiping out large amounts of enemies that were weak to electric, myriad arrows is broken and matarukaja to support the party shinjiro also has all guard btw. he only learns physical skills unlike kanji, but with yu and akihiko being really good teammate options it's hard to use kanji efficiently. plus at level 99 he has max either strength or endurance stat, forgot which. yukari's trait is way too good. obviously need a healer too and yukari basically made a full revive cost basically nonexistent in endgame plus mediarama being a lot more efficient despite being a defensive class, i found that aigis is the best attacker in the game. she excels at doing damage and staying alive as well as having marakunda for debuffing the defense and orgia mode to add more attack. if you equip yoshitsune on her with power charge and give her boost, she will 5 shot the final boss by herself, which doesn't sound all that insane but it's pretty insane when you think about it i played on risky mode so joker was a forced teammate. not like that mattered because return from yomi is an awesome skill and first star to take advantage of his high agility by chance, did you use tiermaker to actually sort the team members in the tiers you did? because i do have a tierlist on that website for the party members

What is for you the optimal team in this game? In PQ2 in think is better for try different characters, mostly because heal is free, otherwise in PQ heal a team required money and the game increase the amount of money everytime you heal the team. Also, do you think Unison Skill affect the tier list or is something irrelevant for the tier list? Finally, the first boss in PQ2 is a nightmare for me, I was able to defeat FOE's and even doing that I could not defet the first boss I took me more time and luck to beat him.
