    Purtroppo la pronuncia dell’italiano da parte del narratore è terribile, ma almeno ci ha provato, e la storia è buona. 🤷🏼‍♀️ My late husband did his National Service with Celentano. We both loved his music especially his zany comedy songs! One of my favourites is “Grazie Prego Scusi” but there were so many great songs.

That is the best idea ive ever heard - its like a teenager came up with it, but they would never do it, he did it - what a genius, we must learn from him, already he is a great teacher by example. 42:54

    Well, asking someone to learn a language to pronounce a name is a bit of a tall order. ;) However, asking them to pronounce it correctly is not. I have to thank you for calling attention to it, because I think I've been pronouncing it wrong all along (but not the way the narrator did). Well, asking someone to learn a language to pronounce a name is a bit of a tall order. ;) However, asking them to pronounce it correctly is not. I have to thank you for calling attention to it, because I think I've been pronouncing it wrong, too. Oddly enough, I studied Spanish for 5 years in school, so I actually did have some idea of how to pronounce it--it just never "clicked". Maybe from your perspective, it should be easy, because romance languages have simple, clear pronunciation rules compared to English. And I think Italian might be even simpler than Spanish. So, is what you're referring to the "e" sound? That is, it should be (roughly ) like the "a" in "hay" in English, or véro in Italian? And the way the narrator accented the syllables isn't quite right either, though I don't know how to describe it. I think also the 'r' should have a trill, and the "c" in "Celentano" sounds like "ciao"? I've just never heard his name spoken by a native speaker lol.

  • @bsadewitz

    @bsadewitz

    12 күн бұрын

    Ok, I think I know what you mean. The narrator also runs the syllables together, but what makes Italian such a beautiful language (and it really is, I don't think it's possible to say ANYTHING in Italian without it sounding melodic lol) is, in part, the clear syllabication of the words. And so from the point of view of a native speaker, pronouncing the name of such a man as Celentano without the same care as a native speaker would pronounce ANY word would, naturally, be seen as a slight against him. It's also ironic because a common theme in his work is mispronunciation/misunderstanding of foreign language. I didn't mean to write such long posts, but I actually DO care that much haha.

    @@bsadewitz Italian is my third language that I learned from English because I loved the sound. It is like doing a video on Pavarotti and not knowing how to pronounce the operas he performed. 🤷🤷🤷🤷 Then don't do it to begin with. Americans have so many Spanish speaking countries around and don't bother to learn anything. I don't understand it.
