Who Invented the Vacuum tube, Radio and Electronics?
"If I saw further, it was because I was on the shoulders of giants." (NEWTON, Issac 1675). We start with a quote from Newton, a great science genius, to remember that nobody makes an invention "out of nothing", there is a whole atmosphere conducive to this, the great inventors of the present lean on the "shoulders" of "giants" of the past . But after all who invented the valve, the radio and the electronics?
Electronics, a science that studies the control and flow of electrons in a vacuum or in semiconductors, was born when the first electronic valve, the electronic valve, was turned on, accelerated the development of electronic binary computers, which in turn accelerated calculations and development of transistors and microelectronics, these in turn perfected binary electronic computers, making them increasingly powerful and compact, if today (2020) we are surrounded by high technology, all of this was born when the first electronic valve was turned on.
In 1879, Thomas Edison submitted his incandescent electric lamp to the patent office. The Edison lamp consists of a carbon filament inside a glass tube where the air is removed and the vacuum is made, then a direct current source is connected, the current passing through the filament, which has a certain resistance causes its heating, the filament material at high temperatures becomes incandescent, this is the working principle of the Edison lamp, with the time of use, the Edison lamps were with dark glass. This darkening of the glass occurs due to the known phenomenon, as a thermoionic effect, the conductive material of the filament when heated, gives off ions in the vacuum that over time accumulated in the glass, darkening it. In an experiment Edison places a metal plate inside the lamp glass, his intention was to reduce the darkening of the glass, by connecting a positive voltage source to this plate, from the English “plate” Edison noticed a current flow, the same did not it happened when connecting a source of negative voltage, Edison called this effect “Edison Effect” today we know as thermoionic effect, and this device that he just invented is the Diode Electronic Valve, which allows the current flow in only one direction.
In 1904, Sir John Ambrose Fleming, patented the “Instrument for detecting and measuring alternating current” Fleming is considered the father of the electronic valve because it gave practical use, the Fleming diode valve or vacuum tube allowed the development of broadcasting, service long distance telephone, television and the first electronic digital computers.
The development of the electronic valve was driven by research in search of the invention and improvement of the wireless telegraph, radio and TV. Who invented the radio? In 1943 the United States Supreme Court gave Nikola Tesla the invention of the radio, Tesla in 1894 publicly demonstrated “wireless transmission (radio)” by controlling a small toy boat at a distance, and winning the “chain war” fought with Edison. But in this story of the invention of radio we need to mention two other characters, the first Brazilian Roberto Landell de Moura, who graduated as a priest in Rome, in addition to developing his ecclesiastical career in several parishes in the states of Rio Grande do Sul and São Paulo , Landell de Moura, is credited with being a pioneer in the study of telecommunication science, in 1892 he built a “wireless message transmitter”, successfully transmitting experimentally wireless signals between the years 1893 and 1894 between the top of Avenida Paulista and Alto de Santana, in the city of São Paulo, covering a distance of 8 km. In 1899 the Italian, Guglielmo Marconi, with his project based on Tesla's invention, succeeded in wireless transmission of the Morse code through the English Channel, about 33 km. According to the 1864 theory formulated by James Clerk Maxwell, and proven by Heinrich Rudolf Hertz in 1888, electromagnetic waves could propagate through air and space as well as light waves of the same electromagnetic nature.

Faltou mencionar Lee De Forest o inventor da válvula triodo, com isso os sinais puderam ser amplificados, iniciava a revolução eletrônica. Até então os diodos apenas permitia a passagem da corrente em uma só direção, sem nenhuma amplificação, aliás introduzia perdas.

Eita consertei muitos rádios e TV a válvulas e mista ( transistores ) com estágios de potência a válvulas . Meus netos me perguntou o que fazíamos antes dos celulares e internet , estávamos inventando ambos 😅.

Ez 80 retificadora,vi uma py 88 uma retificadora Mat,ECC 82 ociladora,as outras não consigo saber,no início fiz muitos consertos,rádios eletrolas, TVs, até gravadores valvulados , amplificadores etc.
Uma coisa é certa: Melhor qualidade de som são os valvulados. Pena que escasseou e ficou caro. Só pra quem pode !

As vezes a válvula de imagem da televisão queimava ,parecia um grande fusível de vidro e ferro mas era fácil de trocar, não tinha solda só encaixe. Há uns 40 anos atrás. Daqui mais 40 talvez nem iremos precisar de aparelhos de mídia, só de dinheiro como sempre.

Boa ideia, quem criou o transisitor foi a Bell laboratories, mas o transistor não substituiu as valvulas em todas as aplicacões, todos nós temos uma valvula na cozinha o magnetron. 😉

@@valvoland Verdade, agora que fui lembrar que muita coisa ainda usa válvula, existem amplificadores de áudio que usam válvula, eu mesmo já vi guitarristas que usam amplificadores valvulados.

@@valvoland continuam sendo usadas em amplificadores de alta fidelidade,amplificadores das grandes bandas de rock n roll não abrem mão das válvulas termiónicas.. Eu mesmo tenho um amplificador a válvula com bluetooth.. incrível a qualidade.. Muito superior a estes aplicadores digitais ou transistorizados.. Não tem distorção..

Duram muito, tenho um amplificador Giannini ainda dos anos 60, só foi feita troca de uma valvula, que entrou ar. Continua funcionando firme e forte.
