My truck is a 2014 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD turbo diesel (Duramax) with 80,000 miles.
Paul's truck is a 2015 Ford F250 Super Duty turbo diesel (Power Stroke) with 69,000 miles.
Both trucks are can handle our camper-- a Grand Design 2020 model year 206RD Reflection fifth wheel.
In addition to higher miles and also being older, the Chevy has less horsepower and less torque than the Ford. It has 40 less horsepower and just under 100 pound feet less of torque. Also, it is not paid for. BUT it is loaded with options including heated and cooled leather seats, sunroof, climate control, backup camera, and has a shorter wheelbase by six inches than the Ford F250.
The Ford F250 is newer, with less miles and it's paid for. It also is much more powerful-- it's a rocket! BUT it is a base model. It doesn't have a backup camera, has cloth seats and is six inches longer. That extra length makes it harder to park than the Chevy.
The Chevy has 1000 more pounds towing capacity for a fifth wheel than the Ford. Paul has done all the maintenance on the Ford and feels the Chevy is a mystery and could mean problems.

At your ages, you both should know the dangers of a short-term romance. How much would it cost to keep both your assets for a year? I suggest you do the math and keep both assets for a year (at least). I would call the one-year approach, “ a do nothing approach” - much cheaper if you break-up. Advice from an old accountant.

Cool your jets boys and girls. You’re running too far too fast. May I suggest that you travel together for a while in your own accommodations (your trucks and RVs respectively) until you are able to know that your relationship will stand the test of time (maybe a year). You can still have close contact and have your own stuff until you determine the outcome. One who really cares for their partner would not have a problem sacrificing for one another. Just an observation/opinion for what ever it’s worth. PS I love my 2015 Ford F250 Power Stroke Diesel truck.

I admit I am new to your Channel and don’t know a lot about the history but there was one suggestion I hadn’t seen in the comments. i agree that ideally it would be wise to ensure the relationship is on very firm ground if there is any possibility that either of you would struggle to get back into a rig of your owns should the relationship end. That point aside, if you plan to move forward with just one truck a paid off one is really beneficial especially as they get on in miles. That’s money you can put into repairs or future proofing ahead of sustained travel. Now by selling the Chevy and no longer having a payment you could make the ford easier to live with. You can get seat covers for the truck that might increase the comfort levels and heated seats are available aftermarket and aren’t that expensive to have installed by a shop. Backup cameras can be added too. Then you have some of the comforts of the Chevy on a lower mile paid off rig! Then you can put the payments you were making into savings so that you pay yourself toward the cost of a newer truck down the line. Then you can put a lot down or pay in cash! I won’t weigh in on Ford vs Chevy. My comment is just based on practicality.

Howdy Ms. Amazing. I enjoy watching your, underscore, channel. As a couple now you both are reviewing the comments so this is for you's. This is a touchy subject and am glad you chose to share it . Sharing the problem of double lifes is the issue, honestly the two sets of body languages with sound and without sound is revealing. Not to cast dispersants on your relationship, never put all your eggs in one basket even with 100 chickens. I see and just now here where I'm at the daddy's got all his toy vehicles on one string and mommas got the smooth ride she drive herself. It doesn't matter if it's a ClassA with a toy trailer and a third vehicle following or 5th wheel triple towing with a 4th vehicle following there is a vehicle for each which is sometimes a God sent concerning mobility. The trailer is another matter, there y'all don't need two. Selling a camper in this marketplace is a disaster, your going to be taking a bath no doubt. Any conversation starting with "If " needs more time . 8 week is no time to cut the baby in half to please both, we know how that turned out, one lost, one won and the baby survived.

Good advice! This guy is taking advantage of Liz. If he really cared about her he would of helped her heal from the broken hand by staging his trailer and truck next to hers. Instead he jumped at the chance to move in on Liz. She was vulnerable and it is easy to see this guy took advantage of that situation. I have a bad feeling (as one of the viewers) about this dude and his motives not to leave out the displayed control factor as the 1st red flag. Liz may be saying good bye to her freedom!

As a 3 time Chevy diesel owner 2007, 2009 and 2011 and drove many miles, I suggest you keep your truck for at least 3 months and if things are great with your journey, sell the Chev and keep the Ford as it’s paid for and 4x4 is a must if you plan to go to areas where rainfall and dirt roads are abundant. Four wheel drive saved me so many times when the roads are an issue and parking when the ground Is muddy or very sandy. Down the road when you upgrade the truck together and get the brand and features that suit both of you. Love the channel and keep technical info coming.

Yes. They are both four-wheel-drive. we agree that having a 4 x 4 is very important. Thanks for your vote for the Ford. Since it had cloth seats, I just found it too uncomfortable for long trips. Hey guys, great, exciting stuff! Proves puppy love can happen at any age. I vote for his truck, not because it’s his, with lower mileage, is paid for, etc, but because it’s a 4X4! It’ll take you more places, get you out of trouble faster and you can add after market gear to it, especially since he’s a gear head. At 72 and having been married three times, I do concur on the advice of storing one of the trucks. Most are advising for a year, but how about a compromise at six months. Compromise is the name of the game, but do it with intelligence! I hope to be on the road full time later this year and would love running into you somewhere along the way. Oh, almost forgot, a true gentleman always asks permission for the first kiss and one that sleeps on the couch for weeks or months while caring for you in your invalid state should set off the magical bells that he is a keeper. Me thinks, you both are. I look forward to seeing your journey. I’m the Burro Hermit. My best to you both,

Well, I'm pretty partial to a Duramax / Allison combo. I'd keep them both, park one RV and the Chevy somewhere in storage in case things don't work out, and use the Ford. It has a more powerful engine, better stability because it's a longer wheelbase. better tires (looks like BFG AT tires). I prefer cloth seats for traveling in warm weather.

Very easy decision. I have a 2004 Ford F-250 diesel 6.0 L. I have 340,000 miles on her and she runs great. I also had a 2005 Chevy Suburban at about 130,000 miles she literally started to fall apart. Suspension issues, transmission issues, engine issues, etc. Then we got a 2008 Chevy Astro van. This went back under the Lemon Laws. We use the truck to pull our 34 ft 5th wheel. We have been all over the east coast as far west as Ohio. Other than regular maintenance no problems with the Ford. As far as trucks go you can not beat Ford quality. Aside, Liz I just found your channel last night and have watched most of your videos. My path was similar to yours but luckily I was able to save my marriage and we hope to hit the road full time within the next couple years with the 2004 Ford F-250.

Hi- and welcome to my channel! Thanks for sharing about your experience Ford vs Chevy. I was married to a Ford engineer and between us we had at least six new Fords during our marriage. We knew to clear our schedule the first few weeks with a new one because we would have to take them back to the dealer for repairs. I've had an F150 and an F250. And-honestly- I would have bought an F250 this time around. I kinda think it's luck of the draw with which one is better. I mean, you could get a "Friday car" where shortcuts were made on the line. The main reason I went Chevy is I wanted a shorter wheelbase for manueverability. My Chevy really shines in that department, when compared to Paul's. Getting his parked is a real hassle! But we are weighing all options. Congrats on being able to save your marriage. Hope to see you guys out on the road someday!

Don't sell either yet. Reasoning: both are over 3 years old so majority of depreciation is behind you and a one year wait will not cost you all that much. Put one of them on blocks in your own garage and put limited nonop insurance on it , for the next year. For example, California allows you to do a reduced license registration for non operated vehicle ay a much cheaper rate. With the tag cost down and low insurance tab, that will buy you too lots of candlelight with wine dinners. I like the suggestion of letting the person who will be doing most of the driving, pick the truck. Be happy and have fun!

You will find important advantages with the 4x4, if you're traveling the country both in snow and soft campgrounds--not to mention boon-docking. Cloth seats wear much better and are more comfortable than leather if you have a lot of seat time. I prefer the Chevy handling and steering, but this Ford would be my vote of these 2. My rig is the Chevy standard cab, 8' bed, 6L gas, 4x4 and 4:10 gears. Fuel is cheaper than diesel regardless of small mileage difference, and repairs and maintenance is better with the gas. Diesel only if you're towing heavy equipment. My load with the gas is 3,300 and tow is 13,300. Pulls the Rockies up AND down. Keep both, your relationship is new. Good luck. :)

Consider the asking price you can get for the rigs. Also you should add eye lights to your videos.

That's a creative idea-- love it! Ooh...except we'd be paying for insurance and for storage for the other one. Hmmm, and then we plan to take a year excursion around the country so we prob won't be back to get it. Still pondering our options....!

I like the Ford... newer & less miles! Santa Barbara Rancho Oso is so nice. Was raised there so its always nice to go home when I camp there.

We just love Rancho Oso! We stored my Chevy there for a few months and RVed with the Ford. Decided to keep the Chevy because of its higher tow rating and shorter wheel base. And then we learned this about it: kzread.info/dash/bejne/lmmOlZSteZS7oco.html Thanks so much!

Got rid of the Ford. Kept the Chevy for the higher tow rating. Two years later traded the Chevy for a one ton. GMC.

When Paul's truck and camper were hooked up, it looked like it was too much weight for the truck. The front of the truck was high and the back, very low. It just looks off.

Good eye! That photo was before he added Timbren springs, which are helper springs to prevent the truck from squatting.

Not to be a downer but what if you decide to consciously uncouple down the road? Who gets the vehicle and RV? Are you both able to take care of yourselves as a singleton again? (Hope that doesn't happen, but you know what I mean.) Especially Paul because he is retired.

If you can afford to store one for a while, that would be good. The right decision will come to you both without any worry. Seems as though you’re committing to a life together and in that there can be no fear. That is a decision to become one. Be BLESSED IN YOUR JOURNEY 🙏

Since you asked... toss a backup camera onto the Ford because it's paid off and has more power. Sell the Chevy and set aside the proceeds from the sale, plus continue to bankroll what your payment would have been. This gives you a safety net of being able to buy again more easily should there be need. Plan to travel with the Ford for a year/18 months. Be mindful during that time about what options you really do miss (I think I'd miss heated/cooled seats, probably?) and what options were just nice to have (sunroof or sound system, maybe?) Check out other people's trucks if they're open to the idea--see what you like/dislike about those. Then, reassess at a pre-agreed upon time (June 2021-ish) and get a new (used) truck together that really does suit both your desires--using the proceeds from the previous sale and the Ford.

Wow, Sage so much wisdom here! My butt gets numb on the cloth seats and it is so hard to park because the Ford is 6 inches longer than the Chevy and with that a much longer wheelbase. I agree, a backup camera is SO needed! I don't really miss the sunroof but I REALLY want that leather! Also, the gas tank on the Chevy is huge-- 36 gallons which makes it so nice on road trip days. Getting gas when pulling a big camper can be pretty stressful! Honestly, I don't know if I can wait a year but will talk to Paul about some other time in the future. Thanks!

I like that Liz is holding her own on the truck, and can appreciate that her truck is easier to drive but, one, I wouldn't sell so fast (either of you) but if you really think now is the time to sell I wonder what the payments are, I'd much rather have clothe seats and no payments!
