Poor Kris Hallenga. Public medicine really has it's faults. I new a women who had a very similar story here in Australia. Diagnosed with breast cancer when she was 28, fought it, again at 36, fought it and then when she turned 40 it came back again, she went to hospital to get the tumours removed and the surgeon only removed the tumours from one breast, left a golfball size tumour in her other breast. It metastasised and that was that, dead at 41, a nicer soul you couldn't find.

Rutan would be classified as a USAF retiree, there are a couple subtle differences in that and a veteran. As a retiree, apart from receiving a monetary pension, you are a lifelong member of the retired reserve (active on the rolls until 30 years of service) and you also retain your rank title (in the case of Rutan, LtCol, retired.) RIP to him and all those of note, and those less-known this week. edit: retirees are indeed, veterans, just a subtle clarification.

Some countries like Canada won't pay for mammograms before the age of 40. A shame because Breast Cancer would have spread by then. There was an actress who moved to the USA to get one and conquer hers before it got worse.

  • @louisejohnson6057

Only 4% of people who get breast cancer are under the age of 40. Unless the person has a family history of early breast cancer, our medical system cannot bear the burden of giving people an expensive test that is unnecessary 96 out of 100 times that it's done. It used to be that you needed to be 50+ to get a mammogram, but with an increase in people in their 40 developing breast cancer, the age was adjusted to reflect that. Unnecessary testing like this would just add more weight to an already overburdened medical system. Our low cost medical system is expensive enough as it is, let's not add to it without due cause. Plus mammograms hurt like hell, why get one if it's not necessary?

  • @hughwalker5628

@@louisejohnson6057rubbish. My neighbour died aged 26 because she was refused a mammogram. She was a pretty, talented, vibrant young girl. Every one of those 4% is a human being who you've written off. In the UK last year, there were 55900 cases diagnosed. So you've written off 2,236 young women as too expensive to care about.

Nirvana wanted Steve Albini originally to produce Nevermind because they loved Pixies’ Surfer Rosa album. I’m glad Nevermind sounded like it did and In Utero (the album Albini produced) sounded like it did. RIP

I saw Shellac at the Clermont Lounge in Atlanta. I hung after the show and as I was leaving I heard behind me, "Hey, can you hold that door?" It was Steve helping the drummer carry his kit to the van. Circa 96, 97

You did an excellent job of pronouncing Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Most people destroy the pronunciation. I grew up there but left years ago.

I've been noticing many people born in the 1940s and 50s are passing, including my mom. Her parents and many of that generation lived into their 90s and 100s. What happened? That's a significant drop in life expectancy in one generation.

Saddly, Kris Hallenga's situation was and is not unique. Women are not listened to when we know something is not right with our bodies. We are told it's mental or menstrual. Especially under the age of 40. She as in her 20s when she knew something wasn't right. Since the last couple decade has seen younger deaths from things that if diagnosed early would have lead to a longer life. Hopefully we can learn from her. RIP

Gregory had plans to visit a local Atlanta talk radio show called "The Kimmer Show". Just two days before he passed, he called one of the show's producers and announced that he was in the hospital but was looking forward to recovering and then making an appearance at a future date. Apparently he wasn't aware of his situation and/or illness. He was a local Ga legend. Probably making people laugh wherever he is.

It kind of shocking some time to find out who actually passed because it must have slip past and I did not hear about it on the media. Also, it great that you include the anniversary of some of the greats' death (Fred Astaire, Lena Horne, lil Richard and Audrey Hepburn to name a few) because it shows how time has passed and how even the sting with the new has lessen but we remember that time in our lives their contribution was current (for us older folks) and like time we still must go on. Thanks for making your mark here on Earth. I really appreciate these videos because it keeps me updated on those we have lost. Rest in Peace and prayer for those that are grieving your loss. Thanks for sharing and blessings to you and all in the days to come.
