All impressionists do. A while ago Rory Bremner was MC at a concert of music from Gerry Anderson shows. He did a few impressions of characters from them, fair enough. But he kept doing ones like Boris Johnson etc for no reason.
@jamesthecat
8 күн бұрын
@@zacmumblethunder7466That's a great point, you mentioned Bremner and he was the worst at this, unfortunately. He used to repeat that awful joke about John Prescott's take on poor Claire Short's early opposition to the Iraq war, years after her speech in the house of commons. I think he loved the concept of John Prescott as a 1970s sexist stand-up, despite the fact it didn't really work, and the line just wasn't funny - "they wouldn't let that much meat out of the country without a licence".
@zacmumblethunder7466
8 күн бұрын
@@jamesthecat Oh, dear, I've just realised it was John Culshaw, not Bremner. But the point is the same. Actually, I'm not sure that they're not the same person anyway. I used to love impressionists when I was a kid, now if a show has got one on, I turn off. There's a smugness about them as well, as though being able to imitate someone's voice puts them in a special position.
So surreal having Harry Shearer on. I mean Simpsons has now passed into mythology as an example of the best American (and by extension through adoration, UK) culture has produced in this period. It will be remembered for generations I guarantee it.
Should be the new definitive way of electing presidents in the USA really, WHO DOES THE BEST BURNS IMPRESSION... i mean, the latest candidates are just somewhat younger than the actual Mr Burns anyways.
How did Harry get to be such a good Mr Burns impersonator?

"Those 3 were finalists" is a thread that should've been pulled. Imagine getting Obama to compete but telling him he's only in the opening round. Who's out in the crowd? Smiling with mouth only, furious that they were eliminated and knowing Obama's was truly shit.
I'm surprised they didn't throw a Sean Connery impression
Not to toot my own horn, but soon as he said they have "four or five" of them I year, I knew it was a lie.
He looks like Mr burns
Okay but now I need to hear Obama attempt a Mr. Burns impression. Everybody's tried it 🤷♂️
In actual fact, it was Clinton that did the best Montgomery impression
