Assyrian peoples are also indigenous to areas which are now parts of Iran, Iraq, Syria and Turkey. They have suffered in history due to numerous events, most recently as a result of the Iraq war. Unlike many other indigenous peoples of the world, these groups in the Middle East remain unrecognized and unsupported by their own countries or international law, in an area of unresolved conflict.I believe the Yezidis belief also belong to one of Assyrian religion which they call it the Shamsh- the sun. Later on the Yezidis people due to the pressure of Arab the Islam converted to Islam and also combined this old religion to part of Christianity. Matter in fact they have moderated this ancient religion of Shamsh and named it the Yezidis / Ezidis - Êzîdî or goddess. otherwise this religion could not be counted older than 2000 yrs. Unless the Shamsh was their real faith which decedent from of the most of other religion of ancient Assyrian.
