Thanos is and has always been an Eternal with a deviant gene. Both of his parents are Eternals. His brother is an Eternal. His uncle Zuras and grandfather Kronos is an Eternal. His deviant gene is what causes his appearance to differ from other Eternals.

I thought Thano is just an Eternal with a dominant Deviant gene. All Eternals have recessive Deviant gene. It's rather ambiguous but it's referred to as a mutation. He is the Greatest Sin afterall.

Not in the MCU. That would be too confusing, and would promote the question as to why the Eternals didn’t help the Avengers as Thanos was technically a deviant. In the MCU, he is just a Titan.

Basic strength. Only a few had their powers defined in the comics. Mostly their appearance is the main thing about them.

Bleed without fear has videos out each week for every eternal.

it's always interesting when villains are part of a species or culture. then you don't have to rely on their interactions with heroes for stories. they'll probably have some great internal conflicts as they try to improve their own society or guild or empire, especially since they are predisposed to being untrustworthy. or even better when a villain uses wickedness as a way to improve things for his people. you get to see stories where the theme is "the ends justify the means" and how sometimes they do. do the Deviants have any deviant centered stories that just follow their own people? like a stroy about how did Kro came to power and what his journey was like? i think that would be really brutal and backstabbing but in a good way, hahaha.

The story of the Eternals and the Deviants story sounds alot like the Annunaki creation story.

Jack Kirby was in to ancient History of the Middle East. So no surprise that he took the Ancient Sumerian birth story and add his own details. The Ancient Atlantan creation myth is also the same except in it a Being name Joshua with his three sons and four daughters were the survivors of a ancient war where his race also called the Enternals and the evil race they fought against were Evil Enternals or Deviants. These two races fought for billions of years until only one family remain and they were spiritual being without physical bodies and the story goes that Joshua saw a blue planet starting to form life there and he told his family that he would help the beings there to grow and develop. But the rest of the story changes a bit, in other versions he takes the title of God and help’s created all the pro-to civilization like Egypt, Sumerian, Indo India China Greek etc. But if You look further into the story, Joshua ends up also being the God of the Old Testament. But these are just other creation stories that been around for thousands of years.

@@butchatv6397 Just remember their just myth stories and there is no real evidence besides clay tablets in Museums that mentions all these crazy myth stories. Joshua myth stories being link to Ancient Israel been around for at least Six Thousand years and is one another name for the Aramaic God of the Old Testament just like Yousha is another name for Jesus.

Most Christians and Judaism scholars hate the fact that their are six thousand years old clay tablets that mentions one of God’s names of the Abrahamic Faiths is link to the name of Joshua and that name is link to other Pagan God’s. But no where in ancient History God was ever called Joshua or Joseph in the Old Testament (Torah) or by the tribes of Israel. But these tablets that talk about the Herbrew God of the Torah by other tribes or certain nations call the Jewish God Joshua in there languages and when translated to English the Name is Joseph which means that at one point the God of the Old Testament was called Joseph. Which I find funny as heck. In the Egyptian myths stories that talks about the Atlantis God’s Joseph was another name for Zeus and Yousha was one of Joseph sons and in English Yousha became Jesus another name for Yousha was Apollo. It’s crazy the further You find stuff hidden in history.

I was always under the impression that the Celestials' tinkering was also responsible for the Inhumans, Mutants, and the potential for SOME humans to develop powers depending on what they were exposed to. So there's a range of genetic stability from the ever-changing Deviants to the never changing Eternals.

As far as I know, Kro seems to be the only humanoid Deviant in the movie while the rest are just different creatures. I want to know if the comics feature any other humanoid Deviants, and if they play any major roles.

They develop kro to be conscious and just killed him off it would have been better that he escaped while the eternals was distracted fighting and he just lingers about and escapes

Deviants origin in the MCU - because we need faceless villains to fight in a giant, blurry CGI battle at the end of the movies, and these guys fit the bill.

But regardless there is always a huge army of CGI bugs or zombies or androids or other non-human types that they can slice and dice without upsetting the people who get upset over that kind of thing.

@@nickwhite5119 Incorrect, Jack Kirby created the eternals, Stan, in the comics, created Thanos, from Two Eternals, on the Planet Titan. Eternals aren't just on Earth, Eternals carry the deviant Gene, it's recessive, they have the same creators, the Celestials. Andi is correct.

Mole Man has inherited a lot of Deviant Tech and his Moloids and the subterranean monsters that serve him are all escaped Deviant slaves/experiments. Actually, it's less "Planet of the Apes" and more "2001: A Space Odyssey". I never read "Eternals" back in the day cause frankly didn't think it was Jack's better work although I am a huge Kirby fan. I always got the vibe he wanted to create a line of toys a la "Transformers" with the Celestials but they never caught on. Maybe I was wrong, maybe I was right.
