I love how lies of p puts you at the center of the major story events, rather than centuries later. I love fromsofts environmental storytelling, but it was nice to actively see things happen.

A bit of a crazy theory but what if Paracelsus was Simon's father? There are hints that Paracelsus was a legend or a god to the Alchemists and then whenever Simon speaks about his father he speaks about him being a god so by that logic it is possible that Paracelsus who consider the entirety of Krat just an experiment would also experiment on his 'son' and then when the result didn't satisfy him he would discard the kid.

Have you heard about the gnostic connection? There's a lot of direct references like Valentinus and Pistus Sophia. I think ergo is a piece of the 'pleroma'. There's probably some Jungian stuff there too.

Many people have said that God made us in our own image. It seems that Lies of P uses a very similar God if not the same one. Along with Simon Manus second phase transformation seems heavily based on the Italian Fresco painting “The Creation of Adam”. It’s the creation of MANus

Paracelsus is extremely significant as far as the few lore snippets you can find which is why I love the mind-blowing reveal that he was with you almost the entire time. The skittish pharmacist who was once a farmer is truly a god among men, or at least a god among his former peers in the Alchemists. The fact that this group chasing true immortality regards him as such is probably the second best case of evidence that he has somehow stopped his aging. "It wasn't for everyone." but perhaps he took the One-Winged Angel's gift, or maybe was able to alchemically create a more agreeable version through Gold Coin Fruit? However he managed it, the absolute best line of evidence that he's immortal comes at the after credits. "I think we have a new brother. A new type of humanity, so to speak." to which the woman on the other end of his call replies "There are many forms of eternal life." Not only suggesting that Paracelsus is immortal, but that their entire secret organization has quite a few. At least three, seeing as how having a "new" brother implies that Paracelsus has a brother to begin with.

Really a pleasure, rewatched it 2 times already. Very informative and interesting, you did a good job!

Im new here but great video! And the lore of this game is actually surprisingly interesting, i really dig it. Definitely has abit of a Bloodborne vibe, with humanity coming into contact with some form of higher being / power / element, and the resulting aftermath that ensues across a city / society I hope we get to learn more about Krat's history in future content - the town / city / area "Krat" as an entity itself has such a character and personality to it. I feel like they really did a good job at making this city come across as this immersive, real-feeling place, with centuries and centuries of history, culture, and all sorts of interesting lore tidbits lying within its past This game is such a gem, i love it

Excellent job, keep up the good work! The only thing I might push back on here is that I’m not sure Simon Manus killed Valentinus. I think it was Arlecchino. We know he tortured an alchemist to find out where the isle was, and I think it was the alchemist of the trinity (since he was obviously tracking the rooms). That makes it Valentinus in my mind. Wild speculation, I know, but hey. I look forward to all these videos. Keep up the good work!

The reasons I think Simon was responsible was because he had the motive to kidnap Sophia during the Rose Estate Incident and Arlecchino talks about Sophia trapped in the Abbey so I think he’d have to have found out about it after Valentinus was killed. There is also a line about a mutated strain of the Petrification Disease at the Charity House which made me think he was testing out his elixir there. But I do want to know much more about Arlecchino!

@@kitetales the motivation was definitely there for Simon, and your interpretation certainly seems sound. It would also flesh him out more fully as a villain (what ascendant antagonist is complete without at least one coup?) and plays toward the general themes of a desire for progress leading to ruin.

Probably a stretch but lore on how Romeo got turned into a puppet, Camilla or any expanded lore on the Legendary Stalker would be awesome...I'm a bit of a lore diver but from what I can see, those two characters backstories are vague...maybe for DLC or something...

Great work! Big question, though: you think that they built the abbey? The cuneiform writing and traces of older iconography makes me think it is far older than the castle and knight and it yet the iconography clearly depicts the tower's use to Ascend beyond humanity.

This was a HUGE question of mine too! I was convinced it existed before them, belonging to the “rock titans” that are mentioned in one of the documents. But then Arlecchino says that they built it specifically to study and use Ergo, so I was confused as there are a couple loading screens that say the Alchemists first discovered Ergo. I actually cut a big section on the Abbey because I’m putting it in another video, I might have to try and research if the Korean translation is a bit different.

Im all in for Lies of P. Just passed the king of Puppets with help from the specter. Could not do it alone.

A full breakdown of the main story would be good 😮

I have not but I feel like I wouldn’t be as qualified as some of the other channels that are dedicated to the Souls genre. Those guys are crazy knowledgeable about it, hard to hold a candle!

Simon's Tower reminds me of the Tower of Babel in the Bible. Human greed challenged God and was destroyed.

Lies of P is very underrated game, it would be interesting if they aded option to join Puppet King Romeo and take revenge on Geppetto.

I like to think the Specter is a grown up Carlo from a different time line

If you look at that all white outfit you can see there is only one wing on its right side it's probably a refrence to the one wing angle, sorry my English is declining rn but you get the point.😂

Strong Alchemists!

My personal theory around the carcasses (because a lot of people think that they are a direct result of the petrification disease.): In the game, there are mentions of crystalline growths on subjects given the petrification disease neutralization treatment. These crystal growths parallel the association of stone and crystals with both ergo and the petrification disease. Taking these parallels into account, I think that contact with ergo causes the petrification disease (ergo is a fragment of the one winged angel, so it wouldn’t be a stretch for ergo to exhibit the behavior of an organism), subsequently, ergo crystallizes one’s essence and continues spreading. However, being lost to an ergo hive mind is not in Simon’s best interests, so he devises the elixir. The elixir will be capable of altering the petrification disease, such that it both crystallizes the soul AND strengthens the body. I personally think that carcasses are not just the result of the alchemist’s “cure” but due to the “cure”/ elixir creating an enhanced strain of the petrification disease (funny thing: ergo is said to have “spores” reinforcing it’s organism like behavior.) this shows in the fact that even dogs, bears, and puppets (I personally wouldn’t medicate a heap of steel or a dangerous bear) grow carcass esque deformities, it is because they are actively being INFECTED by an enhanced strain of ergo spores, spores that have been enchanced within the infected by the elixir. I also think that this is why Simon is significantly more deformed than laxasia, victor, or his subordinate alchemists. It is because Simon is absorbing ergo mostly unaffected by newer variants of the elixir. In conclusion, I just think it makes more sense for the carcasses to be borne also from infection (what? Is Simon going to evolve humanity one injection at a time?) than for them to simply be borne from a medical treatment, and it makes more sense for this ”treatment” to be altering the disease itself rather than simply creating one carcass at a time. I believe that this fundamental altering of ergo (a fragment of a literal angel) is also referenced when Simon claims to transgress even god.

I would reaally like to know what you think about the hermit's cave. For me this is the most mysterious location of the game. Who is the Hermit? Maybe Valentinus himself? Maybe that foreign alchemist Medoro wrote about? Furthermore, is the carcass in the cave the Hermit? What's his connection to Sophia? Why are the Black Cat clothes hidden there? So many questions lol

Yeah that’s just the standard after credits scene regardless of what ending you get, if you missed it, you should be able to view the credits in the main menu and check it out!

One thing I'm still trying to wrap my head around: ergo was originally mined from the Kroud meteorite? So it's like this alien matter that turns the local inhabitants into... more of itself?
