Who are Rotar and Twistoid from the Masters of the Universe Classics toy line. SDCC MOTU action fig

Ойын-сауық

Scott Toy Guru Neitlich from Spector Creative continues his look at the MOTUC line with the final SDCC item in the line, Twistoid and Rotar, a toy that, well didn't quite come out the way one hoped.

I loved how many of these obscure characters you guys were able to give some toy release love to while you were still running the brand

I got these from BBTS to stand in until (if ever) I get the vintage.

I never knew these two existed back in the day until I saw rotar at a Kay bee in 1988 reduced for clearance.they must-have been the tail enders of MOTU along with the three dinosaurs.I think adding lower torsos to them was an excellent idea as it adds to the display possibility.of the two I think twistoid was the better one as we could always use more evil robots and I like that scythe weapon he had.

Great video! Glad you’re continuing making the series! I am a new MOTU fan, Origins caught my attention when it first started and shortly after I started collecting Origins I discovered your channel! Today I sat down and rewatched a good chunk of your director commentaries that I hadn’t watched yet, the way you talk about these figures and the process is how every brand manager should, and I feel like you don’t get that as much anymore. I got my first Classics figure yesterday, decided to be a Horde completist when I held Modulok, what an astonishing figure, so much that I was only going to get one figure that now I’m gonna get every Horde figure, maybe Gygor, Tytus and Megator, then probably the rest at that point, you and your damn brilliant work. I’d love to pick your brain more as a kid in his early 20’s that wishes he would have realized there’s money in making the action figures he collects…

Glad they made too many because I got an extra to open years after the original SDCC release. 👌🏻

Cool video. Thank you! Happily, I timed my break at work so I could hop online and grab a couple of these sets. Had I known they would be clearanced later, I probably would've waited, but FOMO is real and seeing the future isn't. Also would've been nicer if they'd used the Multi-Bot legs for Twistoid, like in the Emiliano concept sketch, but oh well. I remember when the originals came out back in 1987. Our local Children's Palace (North Canton, Ohio) had practically a wall of Rotars & Twistoids, and stacks and stacks of all three Preternian archosaurs. They hung around for months, and nobody except me seemed to buy any. Then one day, they all disappeared, and were replaced by a wall of nothing but Hordaks, Stinkors, and Battle Boneses that peg-warmed until the store closed sometime in the early 1990s.

Funny question: Did you ever do the vid on crazy fans & fan threats? I dunno if I just missed it. PS, I watch your MOTU vids religiously. I'm always excited when there's a new one! 😊

With you coming to an end of your MOTU classics series, will you consider doing the background of the DC figures you worked on? I know you've done some videos on them.

If they do become the new regular, maybe Hasbro and Mattel can learn that prices matter. $25 for a 3 3/4 jango Fett is absurd
