The Whitetop Mountain Band is our All time favorite Old time band! This song (where the Mountain Laurel Blooms) is very special to my wife & I. The song was written by Judie Cox Pagter, and it is about where she grew up in western (Conemaugh) Pennsylvania. That is very close to where my wife grew up (and we both still live) in Kittanning Pennsylvania. The story behind the song was told to us by Emily Spencer who sings this song beautifully! The Spencer family is from Whitetop Mountain on the crooked road in south western Virginia. My wife and I have come to really love this area, enriched with the greatest musical heritage in the country. We Love All of Appalachia, it's people, the beauty of the land, it's culture, and especially the Mountain Music! We Love the Whitetop Mountain Band! So with all of that said, and without further ADO.
