    Awesome vid, Geebz! Never heard anything from Whitechapel, but definitely heard their name over the years. Fantastic song, and they did a great job with using effects all over the place and layering things throughout the song. Their singer has a really good ability to go from clean to growling, too. That's pretty quick in my eyes. Great recommendation, and thanks for the vid, man! Keep on rocking!

    I, Dementia and Breeding Violence were the first two songs that I heard from these guys probably because they have music videos. I dig their stuff. To my ears they have a deathcore/groove metal slant with some doom metal thrown in. I didn't even know they had any clean vocals in their music. That's a pretty cool evolution because one I didn't know Phil, the singer, had it in him, secondly it gives the band a depth that I didn't know they had, and lastly a certain contingent of deathcore fans are completely against clean vocals because they're "purists". I guess some people don't like variety. Fun fact: Ben Eller, a youtuber who teaches guitar on the site, has recorded with them and he's written some of their guitar solos including for the previously stated, I, Dementia.

    As someone that loves old Whitechapel, I still thought Kin was one of their strongest albums by far. Metal elitists really seem to think it's some cardinal sin for a band to evolve over the course of 16 years. Besides, there's more to 'heavy' than just 0s and gutturals. A lot of Kin is more emotionally heavy, ala Spiritbox's "Constance". It's fine if that's not to your tastes but it's not a bad album just because it's different.

  • @necrosis07

    @necrosis07

    2 жыл бұрын

    @Kiryu_Kazuma I see why it could read that way but it was specifically targeted at OPs last sentence where it's being implied that one, Kin is not heavy, and two, that fans of 'heavier' deathcore wouldn't like it much. At the end of the day it's all a matter of taste of course. I personally thought Kin was even better than The Valley (which is one of my favorite albums) but I knew it was going to be divisive as soon as I heard "Orphan". In fact I'm of the opinion that Somatic Defilement was their weakest album (still great btw) and that they've mostly steadily improved ever since.
