Two years ago at the company white elephant another guy got a Ford hat and he goes "someone please steal this sht from me". Well I was at the time a proud owner of a 2003 Ford Focus with 300K+ miles on it so I wasn't going to let anyone diss Ford in my presence so I steal it. So the hat kind of drifted to the back of my hats I'd forgotten about it until two years later I see it and say imma wear this to work today. I get to work and the same co-worker is like omg you still have it and I'm halfway through a speech about how dare anyone diss Ford and my phone rings My wife was stranded in a Walmart parking lot in my Ford Focus broken down can you come rescue me. And I'm like Ho Lee Chit. Could have you possibly picked a worse moment to shame me in front of the guys.

@Skinny Bob, I was 13 when it premiered and I certainly understood every joke and nuance. From the candy gram shark, to Gilda as the hyperactive Girl Scout, cheeseburgee, cheeseburgee, cheeseburgee, Pepsi, Pepsi, Steve Martin’s arrow thru the head and spontaneous happy feet, Barbwa Wawa, doggie downers and doggie uppers, skits were taken from the culture and media of the day, just like it still is. I don’t remember it ever being exclusively “for and written for….ADULTS”. My children enjoyed it too. Perhaps I misunderstood your point.

This happened to me last night at my work white elephant. I was one of the last to pick a present and I unwrapped a head band designed to help you sleep with your mouth closed. I was so excited and everyone was laughing but earlier this week my dentist told me I was sleeping with my mouth open and it was drying my gums. So this joke gift was actually perfect for me--- and then someone STOLE IT.

Yeah I totally get it too. Last year I did one with my friends and I happened to grab a really good gift for me - a waffle maker. It was a small cheap one, but I was only a few months into living in my first apartment all by myself and a waffle maker was an awesome thing to get. If you've ever been in a situation like that, you know that you're always going to be looking for useful kitchen tools and appliances. Then a friend who literally still lived with his parents at the time stole it because, in his words, "I'm going to move out eventually and might want something like this". Honestly definitely a dick move. He literally has used it only one time that I know of. Sure, a waffle maker probably sounds like a nice thing to have but if you don't need it right now and I do...why take it????

She selected the scratch off cards from someone else because her gift was taken, a $25 Tj Max card. The person that bought the tickets and the one that had them taken because somebody else couldn’t just let the lady keep her TJ Max card have to be cursing their luck. This is an awful game imo lol I can’t imagine causing hard feelings by taking a gift someone else clearly liked to get a slightly better one of the same value (in most cases)

After Shawn made that speech about how much he loved that first gift, I can't believe Eva would steal his gift like that! That was so mean! It's a good thing Santa came in the clutch.

This sketch feels like it's missing a 3rd act where the jet black gift gets stolen from him too.

I wanted someone to steal his unopened gift before he decided on opening it, only to see them open it and its an even more perfect gift for him and then he would’ve really lost it lol.

This was the one joke that had potential! This could have been the year's highlight joke. But it stopped too soon. He was supposed to have that one taken. Having each tray being better than the next, even going as far as having his name on the last one. Only for that to be stolen. Until he's left with the scented candle😮‍💨😂

Stealing a Christmas gift that’s great for a specific person Kinda reminds me of The Office

Austin did amazing on the sketch. I've watched it over and over many times. Austin is so hilarious talking about not getting a Christmas gift.

This happened to me. So than I learned to act like I don't care about my gift.

Mikey Day playing ALL the magical Christmas characters in this episode.

They should have kept stealing from him but each time he gets a better color ash tray and the bit is, every gift was an ash tray. Well done though, I just wanted him to keep being a sour puss for like no reason. Lol.

I once got a package of three cheap box cutters at a white elephant. The kind of thing sold in the checkout line of a hardware store. I hoped to no avail someone would steal them from me. Now I use them constantly; perhaps the most useful gift of my 45 years. Happy holidays everyone!

Austin was quite good in this, like Christopher Walken in an S.N.L. sketch, merging funny with edgy/threatening. (Also cool to see James as the Phil Hartman square type.)

Yes! I love the message from Santa 😂 bc when Cecily stole his gift I was like "now why did she do that?!" 🤔😒 That's why I don't like that game, bc I don't like that someone can take something that you really like. I agree with Austin...it's very mean. Lol.

They call this game "Dirty Santa" around here, and I love it. I will put effort into contributing the most batshit item I can scrounge up.

I did two white elephants (one family and one work) and both were smart enough to ditch the stealing rule.

Great overall SNL episode! almost everyone was at their best, the cast and writing. Austin was the whole package. And I am pretty sure he is doing an impression of Brad pitt in the sketch ( ca. Thanksgiving in Friends episode) and doing it well.* I think I'll have to see the Elvis movie now. Thanks SNL. Please keep this standard in 2023.
