The weird thing is that NOBODY questioned why they wanted black kids, their school attendance, their nutrition, living conditions and clothing etcetc. BUT as a gay single male I would be rejected instantly out of concern (sterotypical assumption) that I would segsually abuse a child - even a girl child. And none of them adopt children themselves.
As a transracial adoptee myself, the issue of people adopting PoC children for clout and labor is one I've been trying to bring up for years. Especially the ones who adopt gaggles of kids no one could ever have enough time to properly care for and raise. Adoption in this country is barely above child trafficking, it's very much pay to play.

I was a young runaway, and I learned real quick that foster kids and adopted kids all had the most brutal histories. All of us came from abuse, but the adopted kids would be telling stories of horrific abuse, csa, and slavery, and lived in constant fear of being forced back into the system before they turned 18. It was eye opening, cuz I came from extremely rough childhood abuse, but their stories always dwarfed mine

Trans-racial? Please tell me you just mean you are trans and a person of color, not someone hijacking another race.... Trans and gender diverse experiences don’t equate with someone deciding to change their appearance to be part of a group whose experiences, community and struggles they can’t fully understand. Unlike gender, race presents as categorised (often physical) traits that are socially constructed and understood. You can’t inherit your gender, this is internal and something individual to you - but you do inherit the social construct of race. There is also much more to one’s racial identity than physical appearance - it’s also about culture, community, connection and even trauma.

Sadly this is actually not that rare. I grew up in a foster home and it was somewhat common for the foster parents to use the kids as personal labor. I am talking more than chores, I’m talking remodeling properties, and extensive physical labor. While my experience was not based on race, it did seem like POC face it more!! Well considering when it comes to children who ain't infants, i would assume it's less rare for non-white children to end up in horrible homes of private citizens, since the group is the hardest to find someone willing to take them in. It's hard enough as it is to find someone for a white child above a certain age(5+), so i would assume these agencies won't ask twice when someone is willing to adopt one of the non-whites, however this case by itself clearly shows that they should ask as many times as they are able. It's just wrong, but at the same time that's the reality of the situation... infants, high demand, older children not so much, this causes a lot of issues since being stuck at some foster care facility or being constantly transferred between different options ain't optimal either. What's even worse is that the so called parents can fairly easy dismiss worries by blaming unusual behavior on past trauma, which makes much of the child abuse go under the radar. It's nuts how efficient it is, been working for CPS and when you sit with hundreds of reports, call-ins and open cases it become extremely hard to keep up with the quality of work and it's not as if there's additional resources to call upon when it become to much to handle. So you end up dealing with the more seemingly urgent and more detailed reports first and work your way down to the cases with little to go on... cases which could even be worse, since most of the time these things never even reach the eyes of the public until the child is old/brave enough to reach out by their own volition.

I've heard this too in my childhood of a white couple who had one white child of their own, who was treated like a normal child, and the two black adopted children were treated like slaves, beaten and couldn't eat and sleep with the rest of the family. I was terrified that me and my sister would end up in foster care with people like that. I live in the Netherlands.
That is one of the reasons why homeschooling in my country is not allowed. Quite often abuse of children is recognized by other children or teachers in school. During Covid the state made a special campaign to promote hotlines and other ways for children to get help because schools were closed.

They’re treated like chattel and subject to severe human rights abuses with impunity on the part of the abusers. In this case the perpetrators were arrested, but ultimately this is a widespread, systemic problem. That is not what they mean by shelters. They mean emergency shelters in the foster care system where kids go before placement. "Slaves, be subject to your masters with all reverence, not only to those who are good and equitable but also to those who are perverse." 1 Peter 2:18
I just need to REALLY point out that “unwanted pregnancy” is NOT the cause of this horrific adoption turned chattel slavery! Adopting a baby who was JUST born is an incredibly rigorous, expensive, and lengthy process!!! People wait several years to be matched BECAUSE it isn’t actually common for women to choose to give up their babies for adoption! And the adoptive parents have to have multiple background checks (that are redone every year or two if they are still haven’t been matched), a multitude of home studies, numerous references from family, friends, neighbors, etc, be financially stable, and after the family is matched there are numerous follow-ups before the agency (and most importantly the Court) sign off on full legal adoption! Not to mention that at large proportion of infant adoption are no longer closed, so the mother (or parents) are given rights to yearly updates and visitation rights. The minimum particulars of which are decided between the biological parents, adoptive parents, adoption agency, and courts before finalization.
@TheMPExperience
Ай бұрын
That is not 100% true. Really only private adoption agencies require all that and it depends on the agency. I gave my daughter up for adoption at 20 and the agency didn't do background checks or home checks. You can adopt newborns easier if you go through the state. Newborns are ripped away from mothers by CPS all the time. (for suspicion of drugs, alcohol abuse or abusive households, or sometimes literally just because a wealthy white women decided she wanted that child. This happened to my brother.)
This horrible couple moved from Washington state because they were being investigated there! There needs to be a federal agency that is following these kids if they are moved. And definitely homeschooled kids need to be tested 4 times a year by professionals to make sure that they are okay and they are being educated!

I mean it is pretty easy. I don't think these things compare at all.

They politicized this story so much, I hate how polarized we are as a country because this is such an important topic and they could've really went into the failures of the foster care system/ adoption system & the disproportionately way it effects rural, poor and marginalized people. The struggles a homeless mother might be having...ect. And talked about advocating for policy changes instead they used it as a vehicle to push their own political narrative.

Biden is no better with that 90’s crime bill…they used the legal and prison system to create slaves.
They can bond out but can't afford an attorney?? Foh
So do these children qualify for reparations or is there yet another excuse like not providing some just for the Black ppl who survived the Black Wall Street massacre in Tulsa Oklahoma? I’m sure there is.
Not as stringent when you have cash!!!! What is this world i feel sick!!!
So they used their ill gotten gains to post bond.
I get up in foster care until I aged out of the system. It's generally much easier and faster to adopt out of the foster care system if the parents aren't around.
Horrific!
Only three of the kids were Black. One 9 year old little Black girl that cleaned the inside of the house and 14 and 16 year old Black kids that worked outside. The two White adopted kids were out with the adoptive parents when the cops came.
Their argument wouldn’t be give the kid up for adoption anymore. Most states have laws saying you can drop your unwanted baby at any firehouse or police station and you will not be prosecuted for abandonment. That’s good thing but still shouldn’t preclude women from being able to have abortions
Now these are Republicans who truly live by America's traditional values!
Why else would you adopt a kid?.
Holy shit this is a bit from Atlanta (the show)

The Atlanta episode was also based on a real story
Not new. Red and Black children were adopted out to white farm families for generations, and were often treated as labor. My grandma was adopted to a white farm family and she said "The had 6 boys and no daughters and the mother needed help in the kitchen." I also know another Red Elder who shared her life story and how foster care had her and several children of color were fostered and used as labor to pluck chickens and clean the barns. I've heard many stories like this direct from people who lived through it. ANd many had multiple foster children.
Would Trump pardon people like this? That would be horrifying.

He probably would.
Unfriendly reminder that the United States is the ONLY country that has not ratified the United Nations Convention of the Rights of the Child.
Meanwhile the 13th says that slavery is illegal, but not for the State.
Being able to pay bail to get off on child slave labor charges is just a roundabout way of the state taking a bribe to look the other way.
Those people are wealthy nobody looked at them twice
This has happened before. Atlanta had an episode about it and history repeated itself.
What a bizarre and depraved set of people.
Bond shouldn't have even been a fucking option
I visited some foster children and they worked for free on a farm.
"Who's in shackles now bay beeee?"- The Judge
I wish that someone would not interrupt Brandon so much.
I figure in less than 10 years Sandra Bullock will get a Oscar nomination for a movie about these people
This is simply horrible!😢
Foster care agencies literally give kids to troubled teen industry places. Some adoptive parents put there adopted kids in them because the idea of adoption wears off and they don't bother to learn about things like trauma and cultural differences.
Hmm, the gutting of all our social programs and all accountability therein seems to be going terribly. Who could have seen this coming?
this isn't the first time i've heard of this happening
And somehow people are surprised when they saw unconditional aid to Isra...
I'm a retired teacher and social worker. The private adoption industry is not subject to the same regulations and practices as the public system. Unlike the foster system, which is government run, once an adoption is complete, there is no further monitoring. There is an extensive underground infrastructure set up for the "rehoming" of adopted children by their now legal parents. Authorities are no longer in the loop. This of course leaves children vulnerable to the most unsavory actors out there.

Unfortunately even when kids are in the foster care system, many times there is a lot of monitoring either.
This was worse than I thought.. wtfff
This is literally a storyline in the TV show 'Atlanta'.
Yall seen that one Atlanta episode
Insane this story needs to be made more aware
Pure EVIL
Sounds like a Criminal Minds episode.

I was an infant adopted in 1970. Nobody has any idea how bad all sides of these systems are, how far back it all goes, on a continuum of atrocity systems where slavery was the point. This is not mere malfunctions. There's a whole history...incl Orphan Trains.
The CPS/foster/adoption system in Washington permitted this, and they were abetted for a long time by the state of West Virginia.
I have a very sad and messed up answer umm it's west Virginia
