White Button Mushroom Cultivation (Agaricus bisporus) - DMR Solan
Ғылым және технология
The complete step by step process on how to cultivate White Button Mushroom (Agaricus bisporus) by Directorate of Mushroom Research (ICAR), Solan.
Button mushroom cultivation has two major components, composting (preparation of substrate/compost), and the crop management, (raising of mushroom crop). The substrate preparation has undergone scores of innovations/improvements suiting environment protection laws in many developed countries. At the same time, casing medium has also been standardized with use of peat and its alternative materials (FYM, Spent Mushroom Compost and Coir Pith) with prime objective to improve productivity and quality of mushrooms. Similarly, the crop management techniques have also been improved upon to harvest highest possible mushroom yield over a shortest period of time. All the operations/applications done after completion of composting are handled under the head crop management.

Will Pasteurization tunnel of size 15'x7'x12' be sufficient to generate heat above 60° ? In such a case, boiler room will be a must to induce heat into tunnel to pasteurize the compost.

Formaldehyde - I think we can avoid using it if we can sterilize the floor using hot blow that is used in poultry farms to clean the floors before new chicks are bred... Also what if the compost is boiled in water - will it not be good enough to remove ammonia and sterilize it ?

I want to ask you a question if you could answer it. What if the moisture content in compost is not adequate after the phase 2 tunnel in short method? Can we add watsr directly or i mean spray water over compost till it reaches the level of leaching???

Thank you for your video. Please answer this question: can the compost be made from wild grasses instead of wheat grass? thank you
@abhimalayan

Its better to make compost wheat grass or rice grass as they are easy to decompose. This way compost can be made in less time. The process shown here is the standard one recommended here in India where Button mushrooms could be grown although people do have there preferences which they learn with there experiences.

the long method compost why it is not pasteurized??? with heat i mean
@abhimalayan
7 жыл бұрын
Those who do not have any pasteurization chamber/room make compost through long method. That is why it is a long process. The heat generates in the compost pile and with regular turnings and the process ends when its free from ammonia. If there is a pasteurization room with blower the compost can made in less time thus early cropping. This all depends on the infrastructure available.
Now I realise why button mushrooms are expensive and rare.
