😮 wow 😳 what a pub crawl lol it's not cheap in Whitby 🏖️ you missed out my favourite 🌟 pub the dolphin what a view sat in the bay window seals swimming up the esk the bridge swinging round all day and you cannot count how many thousands cross everyday wow 😳 what a lovely sight all the best for the 📹 great memories thanks John 😊😊

Hi John we were in the Dolphin the previous day. We sat in the window seats looking at exactly what you described. Didn’t include it on our pub crawl cos we wanted to try new pubs we haven’t been in. Thanks for watching

Agree I love the dolphin and sit in those Bay windows every time I'm in whitby

Whitby brewery up the 199 steps by far the most atmospheric and best value!! Highly recommended after 40years of visiting Whitby 👍👍

Never even knew Whitby Brewery was up there. Just googled it and reviews are brilliant so it’s on our list for next time 😊

If you like old fashion quirky pubs, its a shame you didnt go to the Golden Lion. Lovely old school irish pub, you'd think u were in an irish country pub. The Pier is lovely too.

Sorry although its a good pub its a fake Irish pub. It was better when they had the old penny topped tables in, although a few missing that had been picked out of the resin 😅.

@@user-nj8jt6ng3c may well be fake, but probably about the closest we're gonna get around here. Either way I enjoyed it. They were playing all traditional Irish folk music when I was in there And I'm well into that so I was happy.

Both good pubs that we did go in a few days before our little pub crawl but we wanted to try the ones that we hadn’t been in. Definitely your recommendation is a good one though 😊

Lots of good pubs in Whitby to suit all tastes, same for bistros and restaurants too.

Yup Whitby has a ton of great pubs. We will return this year and hopefully complete a different pub crawl route.

My favourite is the Board Inn at the bottom of the 199 steps but we all have our favourites !

We see the Board Inn when we are in Whitby but for some reason we skip it and go into the Duke of York. We will deffo try it next time we are in Whitby !

When was this filmed?

Thanks for showing the pubs I normally avoid when I visit Whitby. I visit maybe 2 or 3 times a year and always thought the pubs you visited (amongst quite a few more) tended to serve old tired styles of beers, which they obviously still do. Each to their own, but I stopped drinking old brown bitters like John Smiths maybe 25 years ago, as there are far more interesting and flavorsome beers out there nowadays. Nothing wrong with the pubs themselves, they are just too stuck in their ways beer-wise. Luckily, there are quite a few micro bars these days in Whitby where some decent modern beers by microbreweries can be found, rather than the big pubco pubs that tend to serve the same old same old. But as I say - each to their own regarding taste ...

Fair comment re old school beers. Because we live in Canada, when we visit the UK a pint 🍺 of John Smiths or the like still feels like a treat as we can’t get it over there.

I was raised on John Smiths during my early pub going days in Yorkshire. It’s more a nostalgic pint for me than anything. Cheers

Sam Smiths has some great old pubs all over the country but the owner tries to make them as dreary and unwelcoming as possible.

May change when someone else takes over the business. There are lots of San Smith's pubs closed and looking for new managers.
