Great scenic video, food looks amazing, tartare sauce looked very green! I've been a pro chef and college lecturer since the 60's and have made most batters, beer batter, salt and vinegar batter, tempura, cornflour, corn meal etc etc, and that batter looks the business, crisp, hot ,and that big flakey cod/ haddock?,....amazing. Worked at a restaurant in Glos, and we used 'gurnard' fillets, deep fried with a cider, rice flour and cornflour batter,......the result,....wonderful.

Wow Timothy many thanks for your comments and knowledge it’s always nice to learn new things and some of those batters and the gunard fillets sound terrific Anyway I am pleased you enjoyed the video Ps tartare sauce was the mushy peas and I also thought it looked bit strange in that jar .

The fish looked delicious. I'm surprised that you didn't have more seagulls around you 😊

Thanks for your comments Jackie much appreciated and yes only the one when I was eating maybe they were shocked that someone was eating up on deck anyway I did leave some scraps and when I turned around the place was like a scene out of The Birds but they didn’t bother me whilst I was eating.

Hiya Kevin, indeed a trail blazer. I've never seen a review on this place. Fair size portion of chips. Skin on or off no real difference to me. Mushy peas again nice portion and nicely presented. To be honest, could live without the salad. A good piece of cod, sadly didn't have the crunch factor. Your word on taste, is taken without a doubt. Just love the crunch you got from the extra bit at the end of the fish 😊😋The deal for 2 is brilliant and well worth it. Another good'un. Cheers Allan&Family

that looked brilliant thats defo some good value especially in whitby your basically paying £10 a main each and £5 for your drinks even though it says free you cant moan at that at all, and they usually hide the lack of chips with the fish but there was plenty of chips on this one.

Looks like a good portion but l wouldn't want the salad.l used to deliver meat to the ship until about 18 months ago and know the food was good back then and it seems to still be of the same high standard.Great video again😋.

@@thedurhamvlogger l used to deliver meat for a firm near Wetherby'Sykes house farm ',they deliver to restraunts,hotels etc.l love Whitby,best Fish and chips l ever had there was from riverside fisheries which is on the other side of the bridge heading out of the centre.Keep the videos coming and just tell it as it is, very entertaining 👍.

How much does it cost? is it a jumbo?

BUT IS IT LOCALLY CAUGHT COD? ON MY LAST VISIT TO WHITBY I ASKED AND WAS TOLD “NO, THE FISH WAS FROM ICELAND AND ARRIVED FROZEN”. I HOPE YOUR ONE WAS BOUGHT BY A LOCAL TRAWLER. MOST USE FROZEN ICELANDIC CAUGHT FISH THESE DAYS. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!

Same for me, I asked at my local fish and chip shop if cod was caught local and even if it was a line caught cod. They started to swear at me and said there's no cod in the river seven.

Chips put me off. Nah I'll give it a miss.
