Whistleblowing in Australia: Prosecutions, Law Reform and the Whistleblower Project | Webinar

Whistleblowers make Australia a better place, through exposing human rights abuses, government wrongdoing and corporate misconduct. Yet too often in Australia whistleblowers are prosecuted rather than supported.
Join Kieran Pender and Bill Browne, as they discuss the new Whistleblower Project.
Kieran Pender is a senior lawyer at the Human Rights Law Centre, leading its Whistleblower Project to protect and empower Australian whistleblowers. He is also an honorary lecturer at the ANU College of Law and an award-winning writer, for Guardian Australian, The Saturday Paper and the New York Times. Kieran is a globally-recognised expert on whistleblowing laws and previously led the International Bar Association’s work on whistleblower protection best-practice.
Bill Browne is the Director of the Australia Institute’s Democracy & Accountability Program. During Bill’s seven years at the Australia Institute, his diverse research projects have included the case for truth in political advertising laws, challenging the prevailing view that there are “too many politicians” and exposing the political strategies of Australia’s gun lobby.

Please don't confuse democracy with liberty and freedom. All it means is regular elections, majority rules. Laws can be passed that make Stalin look like a free-wheeling hippy, but we're still a democracy.

An accurate summary of the legal process is "Up Salt Creek in a Barbwire Canoe with banana leaf for a paddle", always was from the time of the first POHM.

After Vietnam and the continued subsidy of polluters ( coal and cars ), is there any room to think of the government as being good management ?

The Moonlight Shadow of "fixing corruption" in Quinkin land was to show them how to double down on their victims, it would be similar to the knee in the neck technique, except that the victims pay for the service.

If the core problem is misrepresentation and malfeasance by licensed people who have no knowledge or respect for the absolute principles of operationpreceeding every event of actual universal functionality, fact that reveals most legal system behaviour is dominated by fraud.
