‘Whistleblowers Are Being Punished' NHS Bosses ‘Destroy Careers’ Of Staff Who Speak Out

Talk’s Julia Hartley-Brewer is joined by former NHS trust chairman Roy Lilley.
Julia and Roy discuss claims that NHS staff face having their ‘careers destroyed’ if they speak out for patients.
The Telegraph reported it had spoken to 50 doctors and nurses who feel that they have been targeted after raising concerns about the deaths or poor care of patients.
Roy says that things do go wrong in the NHS, and staff need to speak out to make sure it does not happen again.

We had a whistleblower sacked in our local NHS trust. He subsequently sued for unfair dismissal and won his case. The trust challenged the decision through the courts and eventually lost. Apart from the problems caused by the whistleblower being ignored the financial cost to the trust in compensation and legal fees has been huge. The trust manager resigned and is now working in another trust in a similar position. Reward for failure again.

The biggest problem the NHS have is there's too many administrative staff and manager, and what the heck does the NHS need so many diversity and equality managers

    1. because they are worried that their increasingly diverse staff and patients will sue them 2. because they have gone full woke

In almost all organisations those who aren't "easily manageable" are usually persecuted. And, the more incompetent the management, the more this happens.

Engineering companies operate a Quality System that includes nonconformance (admissions) reports and corrective actions all in the open to solve the problems and improve the end result. They are considered to be system faults, not individual errors / misjudgements. But who needs engineers when you have economists, accountants and politicians running the show?

Never believe that HR represents employees. Get yourself a union membership, seek independent advice and trust no-one. That means documenting everything.
