the way i listened to this song at my 14 in non name southern russian empty town where all is still stuck in 90s raised by depressed babushka is awesome ^^ its been 8 years and im glad my teen age attempts were unsuccessful so i can enjoy this nostalgic moment

So, originally this song has a warmth to it. There’s a warmth of love imbued with the lyrics and how the song starts with its instrumental. However, there’s more going on with the lyrics. The song name of “color change” and ending a stanza with “don’t see me” has the implications of longing for someone gone or just longing for the idea of intimacy which I think makes more sense. It’s a proposition to lay together and blend together; to rearrange. What may be the most poignant line is “be what I need.” This line alone disrupts my initial thought of it being a love song. Is it about changing for another person? Well, in the 2nd verse it explicitly says “for a dream you’re pretty good.” So, this song sounds like an idealization and a wish for intimacy that can also be a loving song for listeners living in this idea.

i think it could be song about using someone else to replace the person they still long for. As you said the verse "Be what I need" is probably the most blunt sentence since it's the person telling their new lover to be what they need. As for color change, the title itself, I think it symbolizes the person exchanging another person for the one they long for. The dream verse could apply to this since it feels like the person is scoffing like the new person is good with their words but still doesn't meet to the person they had before. This is kind of emphasized with the "dont see me" part since its a juxtaposition of what the chorus was about.

@@abisexualhermaphrodite4049 yeah it can be a new lover. “Be what I need” can also just ask their current lover to be there for them and be the support I need; or a bit more toxic; become what I need. To be, a color swap is changing for your partner. Hopefully for the better but it can also be; as you said, changing for the other partner to relive a fantasy. I personally don’t see the lyrics as this bleak, but that’s why I generally enjoy Whirr’s lyrics because they’re up to interpretation. Parts of my life I listen to “Feels like You” and it’s depressing and other times it warms my heart

My third girlfriend was The One👌 and I let her go.. we kinda split mutually but regretfully, due to life circumstances like 4 years ago. She isn't coming back... We danced to this in my room together. RIP to the happiness I was supposed to have.. I still love you Raven. I hope you come here too...
