Whirlpool Gas Regulator Valve Replacement

Фильм және анимация

The gas regulator valve faulted in my Whirlpool Accubake Range/Oven. My stove top was working fine, however my oven wasn't getting gas. I didn't find any helpful videos on how to replace something like this, so I made one of my own.
This is a plug to HomeApplianceParts on Amazon, but this is the part I used:

James, thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. As a result, I was able to troubleshoot my own Whirlpool Accubake oven and make the decision to repair it myself. Other than my OEM part costing considerably more 7 years later, I still was able to save hundreds of dollars over buying a new oven. I was pretty excited when everything worked again after replacing the part. Thank you!

Thank you James for making this video. I was unable to get any oven repair people to come to my house due to Covid. My husband was able to repair our oven after watching your video, reading the comments, and doing a little research. (His career did not require mechanical skills, but he is a Navy vet, having served on a conventional submarine during Vietnam.) We have not eaten out since the Covid lockdown, so we really missed our oven. Thank you so much for helping this pair of seniors get through the pandemic!

Just repaired my stove. Thanks for the video. My top 4 burners were working fine. But the bake/broil was not working. It would just make 2 clicks but no gas. Apparently the gas valve was bad. I took a gamble and ordered one. It came, I swapped it out fairly easily, and now the bake/broil works great. This video is exactly what I did

Nice video! I have the exact same valve to replace. Do you run Natural gas or Propane? Did the valve come with any instructions for converting to propane? Mine has nothing but I suspect something has to be changed to work for propane...

Instead of having to"goose" it in and out, where the valve connects under the stove and goes into that small shroud, you can just take off the small set screw in the shroud and it all comes out very easily

Cody Stegeman hey Cody, I did some research beforehand and the consensus was, some people swear by it, others think it’s not effective. I only did it because I could tell that was what was on the unit when I first took it off to trouble shoot it. I’ve since sold the house, but my renters said it worked fine for the 4 years they lived there. Hope this helps!

Only pipe threads require dope or tape. Flare fittings never use either.

Flared need a backup wrench no dope VERY IMPORTANT! . Compression single wrench no dope. I never use tape in 30 years. Dope gas fittings but not as much as the video 😁. Soapy water test when done. He didn't show testing for leaks.

Ik this is an old video and long shot but can the top oven burners still work and broil and oven doesn't have gas flowing through. and how many volts does it need for that particular one

  • @davejohnsonnola2758

Depending on your model, yes top burners will work, but if gas valve solenoid fails there will not be any spark signal sent to the bake or broiler igniters.

  • @davejohnsonnola2758

the flare fittings should NOT use teflon tape or pipe dope. Only the pipe threads require either of those.

  • @alanparadise3139
    @alanparadise31394 жыл бұрын

Never use Teflon tape for any pipe or appliance repairs it's not made for gas it's made for water pipe only.Use only gas type tape or pipe dope for gas. Teflon tape is paper thin when you screw on to the threads it will cut on the threads and cause micro holes and that could leak gas from the threads and you will not know until your house fills up with carbon monoxide and that can be serious to your health or death. Friend of mine learn that the hard way. And install carbon monoxide detectors. DO AT YOUR OWN RISK. This is Bad information you are telling to the Public. I'm a gas installer for 30 year's.

Hockey27tom the flex hose only goes through our cabinet, which in my home abides to local codes. However, I agree, flex through sheet rock would be a god damn nightmare.

Emma Robbie Us on the line itself, or the controller? Either way, I’d play it safe and replace both, no amount of Plummer’s puddy or Teflon tape is going to airtight seal natural gas. It isn’t worth risking your family’s safety
